Four Dems did not vote to consider the bill

Three of them were amongst those most strongly supported by the UAW. Ted Kennedy, John Kerry , and Joe Biden. They did not vote no. They did not vote at all. Et Tu Brute??? It would still have been voted down , but a little show of support would have been nice.

Just curious where did you go to find out who voted for what. I can't seem to find this info.

Thank You.

It is in a list of articles on the Detroit Free Press website- Freep.com. Look at the articles under the picture of The Gov. of Mich. It's an AP article. You're welcome to draw your own conclusions , but it makes me unhappy.

Make sure everyone goes to each senator's web site and let them know how you feel about them not showing up to vote! Kennedy would be the only one with a legitimate excuse!!

No Shows:

John Kerry, Mass

Joe Biden, Delaware

Wyden, Oregon

Kennedy, Mass

Voted No:

Baucus, Mont

Lincoln, Ark

Reid, Nev

Tester, Mont

*All Democrats

Make sure you go to their websites and contact them through email and let them know how you feel!!

While I believe Senator Kennedy may understandably be a bit "under the weather" yet , I think he has returned to the Senate.

:redcard: Harry reid voted no! HARRY RIED , beautiful. Isnt this the big dem savior!!! Unbelievable! Know that ALL of them will srew us!!! What a joke! :finger:

Urgent,

Jim Bunning, U.S. Senator in Kentucky, yesterday voted against assistance for American Automakers to avoid bankruptcy.

Jim Bunning is an ex Detroit Tiger who made a good living off the devoted Detroit fans hard earned dollars over the years. His celebrity allowed him to move on after retiring from baseball to run for the Senate as a Republican.

Bunning voted against aid for the autoworkers that helped pay his wages as a Tiger for many years.

This highly paid member of Congress is going to come to Michigan this weekend and will be signing autographs at the Gibraltar Trade Center. The attached website gives the details.

Here’s the kicker – autographs will cost you between $7.00 and $55.00, depending on the item you have signed.

I say to hell with Jim Bunning!!! Boycott the signing or at least avoid Bunning like he is doing to us!!!

Pass this on for Support

Yes, Harry Reid......I don't think that we will be taking our annual trip to Vegas this year. I will never set foot in Nevada ever again! Sux, because Las Vegas is a big union town!!

This is who voted AGAINST the bridge loans. Regardless of political affiliation, it should be noted who voted against our industry:

Democrats:

Baucus (Montana), Lincoln (Arkansas), Reid (Nevada), Tester (Montana)

Republicans:

Allard (Colorado), Barrasso (Wyoming), Bennett (Utah), Bunning (KENTUCKY), Burr (North Carolina), Coburn (Oklahoma), Cochran (Mississippi), Coleman (MINNESOTA), Corker (Tennessee), Crap (Idaho), DeMint (South Carolina), Ensign (Nevada), Enzi (Wyoming), Grassley (Iowa), Gregg (New Hampshire), Hatch (Utah), Hutchison (Texas), Inhofe (Oklahoma), Isakson (Georgia), Kyl (Arizona), Martinez (Florida), McCain (Arizona), McConnell (KENTUCKY), Murkowski (Alaska), Roberts (Kansas), Sessions (Alabama), Shelby (Alabama), Thune (South Dakota), Vitter (Louisiana) and Wicker (Mississippi).

NOT VOTING (which is the same as voting NO as far as I'm concerned)

Dems:

Biden (Delaware), Kennedy (Massachusettes), Kerry (Massachusettes) and Wyden (Oregon)

Reps:

Alexander (Tennessee), Cornyn (Texas), Craig (Idaho), Graham (South Carolina), Hagel (Nebraska), Smith (Oregon), Stevens (Alaska) and Sununu (New Hampshire).

The states in all caps is because those are states where we have assembly facilities. WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING? Brothers and sisters, if you work at facilities in those states, you need to be bombarding your representatives offices with calls, letters and emails. I cannot fathom Kentucky's votes going the way that they did, regardless of party given that our UAW president is from there and they have Kentucky Truck and Louisville Assembly.

Biden is no longer a Senator. He relinquished that position for Vice-President (elect).

Kennedy has brain cancer and is in treatment. Had it been that close, he likely would have flown in. There is no better champion for workers in the Senate than this man.

Kerry is attending a UN summit outside the country.

Reed only voted no for procedural reasons. He was the main driver behind it.

If you only knew how much money we (UAW) have spent trying to get those 2 in Ky out you would be amazed. They both get destroyed in Jefferson County and Fayette County, the 2 biggest counties in the state, but Scott County where the Toyota plant is they carry, rest of the state usually votes Republican also. Here is breakdown from this past election in Jefferson County

PTY CANDIDATE VOTES RCD PCT RANK

D Bruce Lunsford 195,564 55.7% 1

R Mitch McConnell 155,333 44.3% 2

Here is Scott County where Toyota plant is

PTY CANDIDATE VOTES RCD PCT RANK

R Mitch McConnell 10,267 52.6% 1

D Bruce Lunsford 9,238 47.4% 2

Heres is State Totals

TOTAL VOTES CAST: 1,800,821 PCT OF REGISTERED VOTERS: 62.0%

PTY CANDIDATE VOTES RCD PCT RANK

R Mitch McConnell 953,816 53.0% 1

D Bruce Lunsford 847,005 47.0% 2

You're correct. Biden was in D.C. to meet with Clinton. He did pledge to vote, but only if needed. Unfortunately, he was not.

http://www.freep.com/article/20081210/BUSINESS01/81210043

Reid said if Republicans objected, the Senate would likely have to meet through the weekend to pass any bill. Reid also said vice-president elect Joe Biden had vowed to come back and vote if necessary.

Whatever their rationale for voting against the measure those doing so will be answerable to their constituents. Not deeming it important enough to vote flies in the face of the perception that these guys are friends of the UAW. These are extremely perilous times for the UAW and we need a show of solidarity from those we have supported with our campaign contributions and our votes. Not standing with us allows them to stay out of the fray. Is that what we really expect from them? Do we really know who to trust? The UAW has spent millions of dollars buying influence in Washington over a number of decades and it has surely done some good. But politics has always been a dirty business and it becomes ever more so. This may be the time to re-direct the funds ordinarily used for campaign contributions. Use the money to save the Union. Use it to save the automakers. Let's use it to save ourselves if the politicians won't help.

Please note: Further research indicates Sen. Kennedy will not return to full time work until Jan. It seems odd that there isn't a mechanism to immediately replace Senators or Representatives who are ill or otherwise unable to perform duties. One can make a case for Senator Kennedy , at least , having a legitimate reason not to appear. Still ,it may be time to rethink using member dues for political contributions when a good case can be made for using the money to "bailout" ourselves.
