Sen. Specter switched to save his own hide. He is down 21 pts. against another rep. for the Republican nominee in Penn. primary for 2010. He knows he will lose and the only way to try to win is to switch.

He switched because he sees it as a way to keep his job, nothing more. He was set to face very stiff competition in his bid for re-election and was far behind in the polls to another Republican. He even said today that he was not about to give up his career because of 200,000 Republican primary voters. So, he did it for one reason, himself. And he says screw you to all those people of Pennsylvania who supported him over the years.
