  1. Local UAW elections are a sideshow. IUAW tells them how it's gonna be.
  2. FRAP 3 skilled classifications = Mechanical (Pipefitters, Millwrights, Machine Repair, Toolmaker etc. would fall in here), Electrical and Tool and Die.
  3. You say that you retired quite a few years ago? First, I would NEVER let that ACS outfit continue to manage my retirement account if I had other options, and You clearly do. If you are 70 1/2, they may have sent you a MRD, which may have been partially from Ford stock liquidation. In addition there is a new Obamacare tax on investment and dividend income which they may have been kind enough to withhold on your distribution. Hope and Change!
  4. They can start by restoring true COLA to our wage. I could accept giving up some Local UAW appointed jobs in return.
  5. If we really knew how much of our dues were spent on this folly, we'd be ill. Prop 2 was a terrible mis-calculation. A pragmatist would've seen where this would take us, but Bob is an idealogue.
  6. They're bringing in Trades every week. You just need to sign the "Special" list.
  7. Why on Earth would UAW have "No Position" on a project that would create so many jobs at so little cost? They don't have a problem taking a position on every other proposal that would "mug" the taxpayers of Michigan.
  8. Mazda still has a minority interest in the Flat Rock site. There is a local "Board of Directors" that includes some Mazda representation. That is the Board of Directors which is being referred to here.
  9. Have a Local 3000 official or an IUAW rep adopt you.
  10. Depending on the trade or department, there are 2 or 3 traditional shifts (m-f). They are being real quiet about AWS. Probably because it doesn't make economic sense with only one production shift running. When the second production shift is added next year, I suspect the AWS will come to Flat Rock like all the other locations.
  11. I'm personally sad to see Mazda no longer have a presence at Flat Rock. I have lots of respect for the way they conducted business at the plant and the cars they built there. In many ways Mazda kept Flat Rock "Grounded" with solid, if not spectacular product while Ford placed "Dogs" like Probe and Cougar here. I have a feeling that it won't be long before everyone at Flat Rock will be missing Mazda. I got a good look at the Prison-Style team areas that are about to be installed over shut down.
  12. This whole thing smells BAD! Guys are being manipulated out of careers that they've worked their whole life to attain. There is no transparency to the process AT ALL. Our UAW leaders are letting us down BIG TIME on this. Ford has said publicly that they don't have the ability now to meet demand for product. Do they expect us to believe that there won't be trades added after these crimes are played out? Who will they be and how will they be added? Inquiring minds want to know!
  13. I heard the call today and the words 2013 came out of Settles' mouth. Are you saying he mis-spoke, or do you have special knowledge that he doesn't? Or...maybe was referring to model year 2013?
  14. Many questions still need to be answered. This action is still almost 2 years away. As we know from the last 2 years, anything can change between now and then. It would have been nice if our bargaining team would have elaborated a bit here, does this include a set of tooling for body panels? Just looks like a perpetual whipsaw situation at best here for the AAI membership.
