  1. Local UAW elections are a sideshow. IUAW tells them how it's gonna be.
  2. FRAP 3 skilled classifications = Mechanical (Pipefitters, Millwrights, Machine Repair, Toolmaker etc. would fall in here), Electrical and Tool and Die.
  3. You say that you retired quite a few years ago? First, I would NEVER let that ACS outfit continue to manage my retirement account if I had other options, and You clearly do. If you are 70 1/2, they may have sent you a MRD, which may have been partially from Ford stock liquidation. In addition there is a new Obamacare tax on investment and dividend income which they may have been kind enough to withhold on your distribution. Hope and Change!
  4. They can start by restoring true COLA to our wage. I could accept giving up some Local UAW appointed jobs in return.
  5. If we really knew how much of our dues were spent on this folly, we'd be ill. Prop 2 was a terrible mis-calculation. A pragmatist would've seen where this would take us, but Bob is an idealogue.
  6. They're bringing in Trades every week. You just need to sign the "Special" list.
  7. Why on Earth would UAW have "No Position" on a project that would create so many jobs at so little cost? They don't have a problem taking a position on every other proposal that would "mug" the taxpayers of Michigan.
  8. Mazda still has a minority interest in the Flat Rock site. There is a local "Board of Directors" that includes some Mazda representation. That is the Board of Directors which is being referred to here.
  9. Have a Local 3000 official or an IUAW rep adopt you.
  10. Depending on the trade or department, there are 2 or 3 traditional shifts (m-f). They are being real quiet about AWS. Probably because it doesn't make economic sense with only one production shift running. When the second production shift is added next year, I suspect the AWS will come to Flat Rock like all the other locations.
  11. I'm personally sad to see Mazda no longer have a presence at Flat Rock. I have lots of respect for the way they conducted business at the plant and the cars they built there. In many ways Mazda kept Flat Rock "Grounded" with solid, if not spectacular product while Ford placed "Dogs" like Probe and Cougar here. I have a feeling that it won't be long before everyone at Flat Rock will be missing Mazda. I got a good look at the Prison-Style team areas that are about to be installed over shut down.
  12. This whole thing smells BAD! Guys are being manipulated out of careers that they've worked their whole life to attain. There is no transparency to the process AT ALL. Our UAW leaders are letting us down BIG TIME on this. Ford has said publicly that they don't have the ability now to meet demand for product. Do they expect us to believe that there won't be trades added after these crimes are played out? Who will they be and how will they be added? Inquiring minds want to know!
  13. I heard the call today and the words 2013 came out of Settles' mouth. Are you saying he mis-spoke, or do you have special knowledge that he doesn't? Or...maybe was referring to model year 2013?
  14. Many questions still need to be answered. This action is still almost 2 years away. As we know from the last 2 years, anything can change between now and then. It would have been nice if our bargaining team would have elaborated a bit here, does this include a set of tooling for body panels? Just looks like a perpetual whipsaw situation at best here for the AAI membership.
  15. Friday the UAW spokesperson said the Fusion was staying in Mexico.
  16. This is the same jerk that said he wont support the Employee Free Choice Act. Now you praise him because he wants to Chair a committee as a member of the majority, enjoying all the perks of a chair, fundraising etc. I say "Bullsh*t!" scum is scum. even if they have (d) next to their name.
  17. Maybe to replace those going to Saline?
  18. AAI votes Mon. March 2. Results announced Sun night, March 1.
  19. Don't forget the unprecedented outsourcing that's taking place. What about the skilled trades training coordinator?.....Oh, that's right.....we don't need a coordinator because there's NO TRAINING!!! ......just another section of the contract that's being ignored by our Union leadership.
  20. "Lastly, I am not trying to make you believe anything except the grass is in fact greener at other ford facilities. I have worked there and I know it."... Drove past the Wixom plant last week.... Didn't see much activity.......or green grass.
  21. it has been practice since last contract to post openings at sites with trades in JSP/GEN. The top seniority bids get the spots and an equal number are removed from JSP.
  22. You make very good points, as someone who is perhaps on the Unions payroll. However most of us on this forum rely on Ford Motor Company for our wages. As Ford suffers, so do we. My point is, and I will leave it at this; there has become a serious disconnect between the National Democratic party and the Domestic Auto Industry that we count on for our living. In this election year the oil and gas from Alaska's North Slope that Gov. Palin wants to develop will go alot farther to secure our future employment, than Card Check legislation and Obama's lip service.
  23. Very good. Democrats do tend to vote more in favor of Unions and their agenda, but........ my question was....What have they done to support Auto Workers? The Speaker of the House has opposed expansion of oil exploration and drilling in the U.S.. The law of supply and demand tells us that additional supply will have a downward effect on prices. She needed the votes of all her Democrat colleagues to stop a vote on additional exploration. I checked this week, and the F-150s and Mustangs that we build still need gasoline to run. Trial Lawyer sponsors of the Democratic party continue to extort multi-million dollar verdicts from Ford in just about every State in the Nation. Guess those dollars won't end up in the VEBA? Oh, and I can't wait to hear again about that lousy Ford Granada that Obama was forced to drive when he was a kid. These guys (Democrats) are giving our Union lip service and cutting the heart out of the Company that feeds us!
  24. Scumbags! OK all you Democrat apologists....when was the last time any Democrat (besides John Dingell) actually DID anything to support autoworkers? Not just speeches and rhetoric, but real action? I'll be waiting for your reply on this Labor Day weekend. :reading: :stats:
