nelsonlu
LINK Should the government have delayed the second round of C4C for two weeks? If it did, it would be a worse mess than if it is not renewed at all. Imagine the headache of figuring out who would fit into the window in which he/she did not qualify rather than the period immediately before and the period immediately after when he/she did. If Ford and Chrysler run out of suitable vehicles then buyers will go to Asian car makers.
Hydro
If Ford and Chrysler run out of suitable vehicles then buyers will go to Asian car makers. Hell, they already are. Every news report or internet article shows a before and after of people cars. Lots of Explorers to honda pilots, Durango's to Scions etc.. These numbers look good for Ford, but I don't see many Ford's with paper plates out here in Importafornia.
waymondospiff
If the first C4C $1B was spent in less than a week, how long will the additional $$$ authorized last? Can any company replenish supply in that timeframe? I'd guess "no." Largely, C4C is only going to affect inventory already in the system, I don't think any actions taken today to increase inventory will be affected by the C4C incentives. But good luck to Chrysler for ramping up overtime. How long 'til they're idling the Belvidere plant due to excess inventory again?
jpd80
Now that I think about it, sales normally start to drop off after August so this is probably the last big month and could result in a huge pull ahead on September's numbers.... If that's the case, low inventory numbers on popular models won't be such a problem.
