I don't even see a problem if the songs were sung any other month, is it wrong to teach our kids to support our siting president and government? It is only the people that cannot get past party line that were upset over it. Also who could blame them after the slanted way it was reported! I suppose Lee Greenwood should also be shunned for showing patriotism! Edited October 4, 2009 by Furious1Auto

napbob
Deanh-- I'm not living in fear. God has taken care of me this far and I trust he will continue. I know I live in the land of opportunity and I am very thankful for it. cal50-- Thanks for that video. That must be the first funny thing SNL has done in 20 years. fordworker--I don't drink so I don't understand most of the gibberish you wrote. I'm not sure what church you go to but at mine we sing praise to God, not any man. Please show a school or church that sang songs about W. Why do you say Republicans are Racist ? Because they want people to take responsibility for themselves and make a life for themselves. The Dems are the only ones I hear that keep throwing race around when they can't get their way. They control the White House,Congress and the Senate and still can't pass anything except a bill to sell a bunch of Toyotas. They are trying to pass a healthcare bill that they admit they can't read because it's to confusing and people are ok with that. I'll pass on anything the Gov. wants to do for me but not for their own families. As far as being a Republican,I'm about done with them also. They are the ones that started all the bailouts so I don't just blame the Dems. There is enough people getting involved in the tea party movement sweeping this country right now that if there isn't a party to represent us ,we will find our own. Now it's time to get ready to build some trucks.
kpc655
of course it failed. you cannot "fix" the collapse of a debt fueled spending bubble by more debt fueled spending. the government does not posess the foresight, knowledge or tools to effectively manipulate the economy on such a large scale. The law of unintended consequences always wins. it was political. nothing more. and at that it has failed too.
kpc655
of course your wrong. Plenty of serious economic scholars felt it was the correct thing to do. here's a Reagan white house economic advisor op-ed on the subject. Martin Feldstein, an economics professor at Harvard University and an adviser to the McCain campaign, is president emeritus of the National Bureau of Economic Research. Reagan advisor op-ed politics don't have any place in a serious economic discussion. Keynesians are nothing more than politicians masquerading as economists. besides, Feldstein is wrong. to assume that gov't spending (fueled by borrowing) can somehow replace a drop in private sector consumption and produce anything other then a bubble (at best) is naive. and wrong. consumers are getting their finances in line. they expect the government to do the same. it's not happening...that's destroying confidence and producing a long term outlook that's not filled with higher taxes, bigger government and lower living standards. re-inflating the bubble is not the answer. kpc655
First off Feldstein isn't a Keynesian economist. have you read his work??? Secondly he's correct. If you look at the 90's japanese recession the government relied on the cycle or private investment to spur itself for too long. It induced spending too late in the form of a stimulus. I also believe what he says about savings is having a profound impact on demand. You can not hope for supply side economics to work when the cuts are being put into savings or debt. from your link "The only way to prevent a deepening recession will be a temporary program of increased government spending. " what do you think keynesian policy's are..if not that? so you support another debt fueled bubble. at least be honest with yourself. Trimdingman
We are in an economic crisis. Some blame it on capitalism. Some blame it on socialism. From my point of view, we haven't had capitalism for several decades. The government is controlling everything. Therefore, I blame government for the crisis. To me, it looks like the present administration wants to use this crisis to further their agenda, which is socialism. What we need to do is tell the government to butt out. Let the chips fall where they may. We don't need to have the government playing Bizarro Robin Hood.

Trimdingman
Its funny, when Glen Beck was downing Bush he was'nt lieing? Bush had a war to fight after 9/11. Obama has a "transformation" to accomplish. It is obvious that this transformation involves more government and less individual freedom. Dictators seized the opportunity to grab power during the Great Depression. Obama's policies are pushing us towards another Great Depression. Maybe there is method in his madness. mikem12
So... do you mean he has not fixed Bush's recession yet? Or do you mean that the half measures passed in the name of bi-partisanship have not been enough? bush got the Tarp bill passed, which did help keep the economy solvent. Obama got the stimuless passed but about the only thing it stimulated was acorn, seiu and NEA. in my opinion neither was needed. Trimdingman
? What show? Glen Beck on FOX weekdays at 5:00 E.T. He backs up every statement he makes with video of the actual person and eye witnesses. You will see news that goes unreported on the fringe networks. That is why FOX is now number one in the ratings. The fringe networks are like the media in Communist countries where the only news reported has to be approved by the government first.
