Ford Makes Money Don't Be Fooled

You people need to open your eyes for god sake, Ford has been making money on us for the past 10 years, all these contract negotiations and changes are just a smoke screen to keep you wondering.

Just look at Fords bottom line for the past 10 years, I don't care what kinda recession you people think we had, that was all hype by the media. They do it every so many years to keep you scared. The media is screwing up this country and everyone that buys into it should be put down cause your making it worse.

Ford has been making money on the backs of us for 10 years, we lose health care benifits, retirees lose benifits, our sub pay gets altered, our break times get altered, we lose bonuses yada yada yada. It's all bottom feeder third party drama spewed out by the company and UNION to just keep you running scared thinking life will get better.

Here is a good example, if banks keep charging high interest you will never pay your loans off. It's because the banks don't want you to pay your loans off. It's just like the company you work for. They wish to keep you scared so you keep stressing out so you die. The company does not want you to live. The company and the UNION, they do not want you to prosper. They want to lock you in so you work for them and making nothing and never pay your bills the rest of your life. Even when you retire you still won't be able to make ends meet or pay your bills cause they just keep taking and taking. It's an endless cycle of fear. They always want you to think your job is in trouble so they can take more and more. Wake up people and smell the roses.

We need to start making ourselves heard. You can do this best by voting in people that care for you and not just people that want to sleep in their office and pull a 12 hour check every day for doing nothing.

Make your stand, now is the time. Stop being scared. Stop running. Stop keeping your head down and not speaking up!!!!! this is the worst thing you can do. All you members out there that go to work each day and hold your head down, you should be a shamed of yourselves. And when someone tells you to pick up your head and speak up for yourself, DONT GET MAD AT HIM!! just DO IT!! Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid anymore.

thank you.

Maybe you shouldn't borrow more than you can afford. Over-time comes and goes. A 10yr, 20yr, 30yr, whatever loan is for real every month. Never count on OT!! And quit blaming others for your own financial decisions.

I don't have debt, I didn't buy crazy like most Ford people did the last 5 years.. Your right tho you can't depend on OT.

My whole point tho, is that the media and the companies and the UNION are trying to scare everyone into thinking our jobs are at stake because of the economic situation. It's BS wake up!. It's not true. They just want to slash the workers and not their own. They blame the work force for mismanagement and ridiculous spending they do on their plants. They spend your money in many diffrent ways you don't know about, while at the same time that money earns interest and you get nothing!!

Stop voting yes on these contracts and vote no to get back what we all need. (security)

A deeper look at the numbers

Let's start with some basics. Ford's market cap is roughly $26 billion. They have $23.8 billion of gross cash on hand (up from $21 billion last quarter). On the other side of the balance sheet, what they call "total automotive debt" is $26.9 billion, up from $24.2 billion at the end of 2008.

Also Ford has only made 357mil on NA vehicle sales since 2005. Not so good.

I agree however that going forward, especially in 2011 that Ford will be solidly profitable. That leads us to contract time in 2011. Would your view of a good contract, (let's be real) consist of increase in base wages or security as in honest product GUARENTEE.

well of course ford makes money. of course they make money "off of us" as you put it,just like every other company profits from the labor of the people they employ.its a good thing too because thats the only reason why they operate.

everyone should know where i stand when it comes to concessions etc so i hope noone misunderstands when i say this. to me this as obvious as saying "ford makes money",maybe because ive worked in two union shops in the past that both made money and also closed. anyway sometimes whether or not the company makes money isnt as important as if the company can make more money somewhere else.

i do agree that now is not the time to be afraid.thats obvious as well because its never a time to be afraid. as bad as it is to act out of anger, its worse to act out of fear.what is there to fear anyway? hard times? if you hired into the auto industry thinking there would never be hard times, well, you should have been paying better attention i guess, because you got fooled.

All of the house foreclosures, and plant closures must have been just hype by the media? Time for a reality check.

Ill take the product guarantees with a higher profit sharing %%% and a 4% bonus every year... also double the GEN months for everyone with 19 years or less and a 20 year rule that says u will get GEN as long as your laidoff, no time limits .and we got a deal...

You have a passion that we should all have. The fact that the company is profiting from our labor is the basis of capitalism. The fact that the Union is willing to sell us down the river is the reason we should all stand to our feet and say enough. We should expect the company to take advantage of the economy, and try to get as many concessions as they can. What we shouldnt expect is that the union would be willing to help the company every step of the way. Buyouts, concessions to contracts, modifications to our contracts and an open door to modify the contract at will. The last exploit by the union to accept the contract modifications that would take away the right to strike over wages and benefits shows that the union has totally lost touch with its purpose.

It is my belief, my hope, that the majority of the officials that we put in office have our best interest in mind. If a few good official were to step forward for the good of the people they represent Im sure they would be overwhelmed by the support we are willing to give. We showed by rejecting the last contract modifications that we are not lambs waiting to be led to the slaughter. If we do not stand up and fight for what the retirees have fought for over the years, well shame on us. Future generations will look back and say either we stood our ground or dropped the ball. For one, I say its time to stand our ground.
