05fordgt
I think the 40th anniversary of "Bullit" the movie is in 2008, so maybe... I too hope that Ford re-releases a Bullitt version, but I have my doubts. The first reason against it, I read that Ford had an agreement with the McQueen estate, that the 2001 Bullitt edition, would be a ONE time car, never to be re-done. The second reason, is much bigger in terms of money. Back in 2001, the movie Bullitt was popular, but today, it is even more popular than before. With the release of the DVD in 2-disc form, and with Steve McQueen becoming "en vouge" again, as the Essence of Cool, the rights to the name Bullitt would be VERY costly in my opinion. Just remember, Ford has the name Mach1, BOSS, and GT/CS on file, but Bullitt isn't theirs'. Only time will tell. I tell you, I have a 2006 GT on order, in Vista Blue, and plan on doing a Shelby Tribute, with painted stripes, ducktail, etc. I plan on keeping the car for years, BUT, IF Ford decides on coming out with another Bullitt edition, AND the power is upped a bit, I will be VERY tempted to trade mine in for it. If Ford just offered Highland Green as a color, I wouldn't be having these thoughts, lol! Edited December 12, 2005 by 05fordgt
RUMBLE TRUCK
Steve McQueen starred in the recent "Cornfield" Mustang commercial, so it seems Ford and the McQueen estate are still on good terms...(keeps the hope alive)
