QCubed
I am wondering if the compressor for the air suspension is interchangeable with the one for air ride in the back of our 98 Windstar Limited. Ours needs to be replaced, and I am told that Ford no longer manufactures this part. Does anyone know whether the same compressor was also used in another Ford model? I find it hard to believe that Ford would have desgned and used the compressor in just the Windstar Limited, as very few of these of these were sold. Ford probably used the same compressor in another model also. I would be especially grateful if you have diagrams or photos showing the comparable compressor in another model Ford. Alternatively, perhaps someone might be able to suggest a good quality after market manufacturer for the compressor. Thanks to all who are able to help! Your best may be to go to an auto recycler, most of them will have a Hollander interchange book, gives you year and modle of vehicle parts will fit
ute
I'm pretty sure all Lincoln models had the same compressor ...Conti / Town To get the line out push in on the orange ring and then pull the line out ......there a bugger if you don't do it right

The only difference will be the bracket, which can be reused and if it has a 1 or 2 port dryer.
QCubed
My belated thanks to all of you for your help! Update: I gave up on looking for a replacement compressor. Even after replacing the compressor, sooner or later, the bags for the air suspension would begin to leak, if they haven't already. Bottom line, it was better for me to convert to conventional coil springs and shocks. I opted for variable rate coil springs for the added resistance with the heavier loads. Total Cost Can. $ 800 including labour. And with the variable rate coil springs, the ride is alsmost as smooth as the air ride. Again thanks for your help!
OTPisdead
Good decision with the standard shocks/springs.
ford4v429
wow, 800 for a pair of springs... My 2000 marquis compressor got noisy last time i drove it, took it out/apart, here mice got into the airbox this summer- ate the air filter and chewed the air inlet hose to the compressor off- motor/pump was completely full of water... cleaned/polished it up, working again, but think I'll be putting coils in it too- I'd converted my mark VII years ago, didnt notice any ride difference, just no more worries of suspension issues- airride was pretty reliable, but if it aint there, it cant break
