SheetMetalJoe
If your trade is red-lined, what does that mean for you? Any helpful information would be appreciated.

I guess I should have been more specific..... Do I get to continue in my trade until I retire? I have at least 20 years left...

AFTER A FEW YEARS THEY SPLIT THE WORK UP BETWEEN ELECTRICAINS AND PIPEFITTERS, AND THEY PUT THEM IN GEN. SINCE THERE IS NO GEN AND THEY HAVE RESKILLED ABOUT 5 PEOPLE IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS IT DOESNT LOOK GOOD. I DONT MEAN TO SCARE YOU OR BE SO BLUNT BUT THIS IS WHATS HAPPENNING TO TRADES. THEY ARE SLOWING GETTING RID US OF THROUGH RED LINE, MECHANICAL GROUPING, AND NOW WORK GROUPS WITH PRODUCTION. NOBODY CARES ABOUT ALL THIS UNTIL IT AFFECTS THEM, MANY OF OF HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH THIS FOR YEARS. THERE IS ABOLUTLY NO INCENTIVE TO PUT US BACK ON OUR TOOLS OR RETRAIN US IF WE ARE ON THE LINE WITH LINE WAGES.HELL, THEY ARE PROBALLY HOPING SOME OF US QUIT, TAKE A BUYOUT, OR JUST STAY THERE. I WOULD TRY TO GET AS MUCH INFORMATION AS I COULD AT THE TOWNHALL MEETINGS THEY WILL HAVE ABOUT THIS CONTRACT. Hopefully the brothers & sisters that remain at some of the ACH plants will make sound decisions when the time comes.
