AAI - Fusion Start Up date?

Recommended Posts

Just looking for some insight.... Dealers are still in the Dark on when they are going to be built and when orders can be taken... any info would be awesome!

Really doesn't matter. Neither a customer nor a dealer can request a specific plant to build a vehicle. Ford will schedule the unit at which ever plant period.

My aunt works the line at the Mexican plant building the fusions, I will ask her when they

are scheduled to start production of the 2013.

She lost her job here in the states and decided to cross the border and look for work since they have all

of our jobs! She lives in a shack with 6 other people and sends her check back home each week.

She has also opened up an American Food restaurant and is doing good!

And Yes You can request to have the Car Build in the USA thats why i wanted to build dates at AAI... Being a union brother and supporting what we stand for that would make perfect sense why I want it made here and not in Mexico... and BOB KING and the other top guys said the 2013 Fusions would be Built at Flat Rock and in Mexico to meet demands.... So anyone aside the Peanut Gallery on here have any real info on the Matter?

This is bullshit....to a point. My old man had his 1986 Escort GT built at the Edison plant when they where making Escorts there...and specifically requested it to be built there. I have photos of it being built (he worked nights) and sitting in lot. He even shocked the dealer by calling them and saying it was coming in on a NeuCar carrier....the Plant was about 40 minutes from the dealership.

As a customer, I can clearly and unequivocally tell you if it’s NOT made in the USA, you LOSE the sale. At that time, I certainly believe that you will find a way to make it happen, and keep me as a customer. I have far too many dealership options available to believe I have to work with some bozo that does not put MY desires first.

You can request that the model you are interested in be one that was built in the US (as in it is already being built in the USA as well as in other parts of the world), but you can't go to a dealer and request that a car that isn't being made in the states be built in the states just for you. Thats absolutely ridiculous.

If you would read the previous postings, you will see we are talking about the Fusion WHEN it is built in Flat Rock Michigan. We all understand that currently it can not be done, but this so called dealer says even if it is being built here and mexico, that I can't make a choice...And I KNOW that I can certianly do so. Just as I can, and did choose which plant my F-150 was built at a few years ago.

If the plant is 40 minutes from the dealer then it made sense

to have it built at that plant, they knew it would be built down the road , that's why

the salesman told your dad , you got it we will have it built where you want, knowing all along it would be

built at Edison to save on shipping cost.

I am sorry to burst your bubble but nothing special went on with this order.

There was a press release a while back that had a Ford spokesperson quoted as saying the hybrid models will only be built in Mexico.

The new Mustang will be based off the new fusion that is why

AAI is getting just a little bit of Fusion production so they

can work all the bugs out of the new equipment that will

be installed.

Fusion trial bodies start in Feb 2013, launch will be late April - early June. no exact date yet. Ford said all hybrids will be built in Mexico. AAI will build most of the gasoline models. Based on demand, AAI could making up to half of all Fusions. It will probably be normally 35-40%, so we still have capacity room for a third car, like a low volume Lincoln. Mazda leaves Aug 24, and AAI starts spending the 550 million dollar investment the next day by ripping out the Mazda line in Body shop and retooling for the Fusion. We have 5 down weeks scheduled before mid Jan, of which 3 are consecutive in Nov. for mass retooling.

How is that? Ford is going to build the car where they want to build it...they had Escorts from Wanye (where it was also built at the time) and both plants where making GT's at the time...
