ALEX4398
The 2 guys I know are on ILO. We all have signed up for T&D spots and machining specialist and reskilling but no one seems to know what bids were one by who. i have been canvassed to retrain 3 times and said yes 3 times. Put us to work.
wixom22
That is what is happening..low on ilo are being asked first.contract says high ilo are to be asked first.then they can opt to bump low working. I cann't speak to what they are doing, but the contracts states it will go to lowest first. Page 087 A of the white pages.

PIPEWRENCH
They got to 6/17/02 in zone 1 & 2. The other question is how far are they going to go

ALEX4398
The latest per JR allen is Stationary Steam, Electrician and they have added machine repair and mold maker. But, the guys who are left on ilo could be months waiting to reskill because they have to recanvass due to them adding more needed spots. Pulse
I have no problem with that kitty cat. but they better go by the contract, and not take care of their buddys by making up new rules instead of following the contract. If they go by the rules high seniority on ILO are to be asked first,,, 1 Go to Chicago 2 bump low working 3 go on ILO without pay Sorry to all the low seniority trades but they new this could happen, with 9 years or less I would have taken the buyout , but they didnt. They are doing it the way they want to not the way the contract says.Ask anyone with serious time , when they do that its to protect somebody. uhhh...trades doesn't have the option to bump low in zone. Fittersteve
uhhh...trades doesn't have the option to bump low in zone. Uh yes we do. actually in Michigan (zones 1 and 2) the zones are combined for purposes of bumping lowest out of zone. While you cant simply take a lower seniority persons job and put them back to lay off, when jobs out of state need to be filled UAWfactoryrat is correct. Masterchief
be concerned when you select the reskill option. I does NOT have to be at the plant your at, It can be at the plant your needed at. CAP, CSP, Buffalo need 19 PF,s 17 MW's and 8 Stationary Steam.
PIPEWRENCH
Does anyone actually know how many people are on this re-skill list or if there is even a list? Will it be zone wide plant wide or ford wide?
buffalobill
May i ask what reskilling you have been offered? there is no reskill opportunities in our zone so they are SOL......

One person from Michigan say there are reskill opportunities at Buffalo and another from Buffalo says there aren't any in zone. I'm confused, because its my understand that there are no available steam people in the system so it would be a reskill.
buffalobill
Buffalo is in a zone by itself and it is a realtivly small plant. I can tell you I was in a meeting with the union yesterday and there are no reskill opportunities available at buffalo stamping, but I heard later in the day that MW will be transfering in......How do you like that buyout 9 diemakers and transfer in 1 MW. buffalobill
That is what management keeps saying as they keep pushing more and more people out the door...... If I had to guess we have had 90 people tranfer out in the last year and they just forsed a bunch more production to LAP. Total population is down to around 450. Sailinshoes
This whole thing smells BAD! Guys are being manipulated out of careers that they've worked their whole life to attain. There is no transparency to the process AT ALL. Our UAW leaders are letting us down BIG TIME on this. Ford has said publicly that they don't have the ability now to meet demand for product. Do they expect us to believe that there won't be trades added after these crimes are played out? Who will they be and how will they be added? Inquiring minds want to know!

salinedude
They now are not doing the whole bump thing. They are taking the overall # of people they need in other states. Then they are taking the bottom seniority people (working or not) and giving them the option to move, take the buy down, reskill (elec, steam. metal model maker or mach repair) or quit. After they are done with all that mess they are offering the rest the buy down or reskill.

ALEX4398
This whole mess is getting bad. Hiring guys off the street while the rest of work production off our tools with a cut in pay is pure bull. Now messing with contract and saying they arn't going to force low outta zone. Wow, I never want to see guys forced but this system will leave guys off their tools for years. Everyone needs to get on the horn to IUAW and bitch.
