Project ST - History Lessons: #24 - Ford EXP

Recommended Posts

There is a white and gray Escort GT from this vintage still being used as a daily driver around the Harrisburg area.

I saw a white/pink(!) at Ford at Carlisle this past summer..the interior was outstanding on it...I know ran into my old Escort GT back in 1998 and the dash was shot on it...

Unfortunately, I missed the main part of the Ford show at Carlisle this past summer. I hope that more 1980s Fords, Mercurys and Lincolns show up in the future.

I have more of an appreciation for these Escort GTs and EXPs now than I did when they were new.

My father had a 1986 Escort Pony, and my aunt had a 1987 Escort wagon. Both were pretty tough cars. Ford had the bugs worked out of them by then.

This existed! The Ford EXP

Awesome! Man, that is something I haven't seen in a long while. That was my first car. I had a 1982 Ford EXP. It was two-toned, white on top black on the bottom with a red stripe separating the halves. 5-speed stick & a sunroof. That was a super-cool looking ride for what it was. The chicks dug it. Talk about some good times in that car! :)
