GT-Keith
With a 10 speed and a gear that short, It could work. I would love to see it in a 4500lb regular cab. I feel like the choice boils down to perception and performance; Anything other than a V8 is heresy but the "8" is not longer the top performer.

I'd rather have that and be a half second slower in the quarter mile compared to having a more powerful V6 turbo.
silvrsvt
I think some potential truck buyers might be turned off to a FPC V8 in a truck As for an in-between 3.5 Ecoboost engine...thats easy enough to do with software.
GT-Keith
The 5.2L sounds amazing. It just might be the best sounding V8 I've ever heard and the second best engine I've ever heard(Lexus LFA's V10 as the best). I would put the 5.2L FPC a notch above the 2005 Ford GT's note. However, the 2nd gen 3.5L Ecoboost sounds atypical for a six, though, at least in the GT. I would rate it above a stock 5.0L in the sound department. probowler
For the love of God Ford..........don't corn out with the "EcoBeast" The words "Eco" and "Beast" simply don't work together. Bring back the Lightning, it actually sounds cool.... and has brand herritage to back it up.
probowler
just because it exists in prototype form doesnt mean its being tested as a future product perfect example - when the '05 Mustang was being prototyped, my rowing coach in High School had a Lincoln LS with the front clip of the then new mustang on it (it was camod heavily but it was damn obvious what it was). I'm sure if the magazines had caught photos of it, speculation of a Mustang based Lincoln would have run rampant. Ford once prototyped a RWD Lightning Bronco..... so freaking cool! But alas... it wasn't meant to be.
