mrcultureshock
Hi all, I plan to purchase a hybrid mid-size sedan in July and I'm considering the Accord, Camry, and the Fusion. I've test driven both the Honda and Toyota and I plan to test drive the Ford this weekend. Comparing the 3 cars, the car with the best tech and safety is the Fusion and it's really appealing to the geeky side of me. Moreover, the Fusion offers things (AC front seats, park assist) that don't exist on its Japanese counterparts. My question is: why did you buy a Fusion (Hybrid or Gas) over its competitors? I've driven Japanese cars for a long time and have had very good reliability. I've been readin online and some sites (like CR) rate Fusion's reliability as "average". Should I be worried about any reliability problems if I go with the Fusion? Finally, do you guys like Fusion's factory-installed remote start function? One you start the car with your key fob, does the car turn off when you open the door to get in? Many thanks in advance!
akirby
It does not turn off when you open the door - you just get in hit the start button and drive - it never shuts off. Prior to the launch of the 2013 model, the Fusion was equal to Accord and Camry in quality. When they switched to the European platform and suppliers they had lots of issues, but most of those early problems seem to be fixed now. You might want to wait for the 2016 as it will get the new sync3 infotainment which should be much better than the current MyFordTouch. mrcultureshock
Thanks for the quick reply! I checked the interior photos of the 2016 Fusion and it looks like Myford Touch has been retained for 2016. I've never used MFT before but from the looks of it it has a lot of functions and it should be better than the Hondalink system.
akirby
The current version of MFT works fine. I didn't realize the 2016s were already out. I bet sync3 shows up later this year.
Hybrider
There are many discussions ongoing and archived at the Fusion Hybrid (FFH) forum which can answer all of your questions listed above, and many more too. http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/ There is one such discussion happening right now which should interest you (link below), since some of us have listed out our reasons for choosing the FFH over the other hybrids. http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/10205-what-did-you-cross-shop-your-ffh-with/ BTW, the link to the FFH forum is listed in the very top bar at the top of every page on this forum.
