Give me specifics of why you are voting no?

Yes, Ford hired me to do a job and depends on me to keep their pockets overflowing. My UNITED AUTO WORKERS' UNION has negotiated certain rights (and rules) concerning my employment. One of those negotiated rights is a benefit concerning BLUE DAYS (or excused absences) to be used at our discretion. Whether it is for actual illness or personal time is not the issue. This is a negotiated benefit!!! We cannot let Ford continue to abuse our contractual language. And yes, Ford will start to fully enforce the attendance policy (unless, of course, one happens to be one of the "golden children" under the supervisors' desks). Since '92 I've never had an unexcused absence thanks to our NEGOTIATED BENEFITS, but this clause in the language will open up a can of whoop-ass for the company.

There are other issues with this contract that aren't so good, considering what we gave up since '07, but I realize we're in a new "labor world" so overall this contact has some merit. But we can't let them chip away at the little things that make this job acceptable.

It's so laughable to say it doesn't pertain to you. You must be psychic to know that you'll never again have an emergency on the first or last day of the week. That the case? Don't belittle the issue. You know how you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! That's how they take things. Little things that "aren't enough to make me vote no." Add up those little things over time and honestly ask yourself if they tried it at once if you'd feel the same way. At some point, you have to be willing to say "no more!" I have reached the point. It is a copout to say "things are different now." They are the same as they ever were. Our brothers years ago that fought the battle of the overpass knew the score. Just like we know the score right now. I'm willing to put it on the line! Not for "personal days" but the big picture. We had better in the past, and tightened our belts; and we gave back to keep the ship afloat. They WILL NOT give back unless we demand it. THIS is what unions are for. Be a proud member and stand strong TOGETHER!

This language was and is not needed. The Company already has the right to refuse after the fact days IF production was effected by absences. They never used that but now they want more restrictions? Just another nail in the coffin of hard working people that refuse to kiss the bosses asses.

And Littlecountry says he is Golden....must sit under the bosses desk all day long....

Why vote NO??? Let our union rep tell you why!!!

THIS IS A MUST READ !!!!
This post is from one of our brothers on the bargaining committee at Dearborn Assembly:

Ford contract -- If we don’t get it back now, when will we ever get it?

The Ford contract is basically the same as the GM and Chrysler contracts, with slightly more bonus money. It does not repay us for all the concessions we have given up. It does not even bring us back to the standard of living we were at before the concessions started.

Does not bring back yearly raises and COLA. This contract has 2 raises of 3% and 2 lump sum bonuses, plus other bonuses. But the standard UAW contract used to be a 3% raise every year, plus COLA (cost-of-living) and profit-sharing. Bonuses instead of raises mean less money in the long run.

Does not end 2-tier. It will take 8 years to get to 1st tier, but it is a 4-year contract. People used to get to 1st-tier pay in 3 years or less, why not now? Even those who get to 1st-tier pay still don’t get a pension. They’re still 2nd-tier. This contract creates more tiers – lower pay for temporary workers and workers at Sterling, Rawsonville and Woodhaven.

Does not protect permanent jobs. The contract allows the company to hire many more temporary workers, at low pay and few benefits. They can be used for daily absentee replacements, as well as other reasons. They could amount to 10% or more of the workforce, taking away permanent jobs.

Does not protect pensions. There is no raise for retirees. It used to be that every contract would increase pensions a little to account for inflation. Plus retirees need help more than ever, since they are paying more out of pocket for health care, due to the VEBA. The pension increases stopped and the VEBA started during the concessions, but the concessions are supposed to be over, aren’t they???

Does not protect health care. The contract leaves the door open for changes that could limit our choices or increase our costs. The letter on Alternative Plans allows changes to our health care coverage after the contract is ratified.

Does not improve working conditions. We used to have more break time. Maximum schedule used to be 10 hours per day, with overtime after 8. We lost those things with the concessions and alternative work schedules. We are getting none of those things back. Plus, they are increasing the number of mandatory Super Days for 3 Crew from 6 to 9.

Where does this contract leave us? Yes, there is more money than in the last contract. But the legacy workers are still not nearly back to what we had before. The 2nd-tier workers are facing a future living worse off than their parents. Why can’t we get back to the pay and benefits we used to have? Don’t tell us the company can’t afford it! Why should we vote Yes on this contract?

In 2011, Ford workers were threatened by the top union leadership that if we voted No, they would put us out on strike and we would get less. That was nothing but extortion. Ford has record sales and is making record profits. We have power over the company right now. There is no reason we can’t get what we need. We should get it now!
That’s why I believe we should vote No!

  • Rank and File employees have not received a raise in over a decade. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Inflation Calculator, if you made $28.24 per hour in 2003 and if your pay ONLY increased with cost of living you should be making $36.52 today!!! This standard of living wasn’t given to you, it was fought for by union members before us. It’s now our time to fight that battle!

  • The elimination of COLA and the decade long wage freeze is costing you $17,222 a YEAR!!! That is $68,888 over the life of a 4 year contract!!! Still think a $10k sign-on bonus seems fair? It is absolutely insulting!!

  • CEO pay to Worker pay has grown astronomically over the past 10 years. In 2014 the three top Ford Executives made a combined total of $47,674,648.00 in total compensation!!! Yes, you read that right! $47.6 million in compensation for THREE PEOPLE!!! If these three executives worked a 40 hour work week they would make on average $7640 PER HOUR!!! Still think $36 per hour is too much to ask for the people that actually make the product?

  • Tier-two is unfair, unjust, creates strife, weakens moral, and divides unions! It should have NEVER been allowed in the first place! We demand an end to Tier-two IMMEDIATELY! We are our brother’s keeper!!!

  • We are not asking for ANYTHING more. We are only asking for the standard of living we once had. Ford is on track to have the most profitable year ever on the backs of hard-working people like you. We agreed to give concessions in order to return the company to profitability. That time has come, and it’s time for the company to give something back!

These goals can be achieved with 100% solidarity. They can’t do anything to us without our consent. Stand strong, stand united! SOLIDARITY!!!

KCAP

Five points made and no name calling. The damage done to us in the 2011 contract will take several contracts to get back. To achieve the things you have laid out it will take more solidarity then we have today. With the correct leadership we will be a great union again. But like the fall it won't happen overnight. That is why I voted for this contract.
