Servo or electic motor in dash?

Recommended Posts

Just got the Explorer back from the shop for rear end, now there is an intermitant whirring sound coming from under the dash or firewall on driver's side. Are there servos on the climate controls, or maybe something with the electronic accelerator? I couldn't see anything up there. It only does it while driving not while parked.

If you don't drive it you won't have a problem.

i have the same problem in my 04 sport trac.
Make sure the emergency brake cables are not rubbing the back of the wheel. That's waht was wrong with mine. Ther sound travels up the cable into the dash and sounds like a change machine going haywire. We noticed that going over a rise or across a dip in the road made the noise change dramatically and started looking at the suspension and found it. Recent work done on the rear diff the guy bent the braket out and let the cable toucgh the back of the rear wheel.
