Glory,

Repectfully mind you, I see no reason as of yet why I should be a fan of Ron Gettlefinger. Unfortunately, that websites header says it all, it is socialist and communist, and admits it at the top. While the facts of what he has done may be accurate, the way they spin it loses credibility as soon as you see the header of who wrote it.

dark,,ok your a union brother,,my whole point was we all have no problem asking for certain things from society why should we sit around and let middlefinger dictate what happens with our livlyhood,he has done nothing for us since he has been in office nor has bantom,,,head coach and assitant head coach need to go,,we need a mike ditka in there, someone who will say fuck you when they try to get rid of gen,,someone who will say if you want a plant closed then we will close all of them,,we are on nstrike and untill you figure out we are why you and your buttsnifferes are rich then you can nsuck us all.some one who will let the ship sink with a little self respect and respect for us because if we keep him in there we are all fucked,,,GIVE BACK GIVE BACK is all i have heard since he has been there.evereyone is to chicken shit to ask for his job but when it comes to your job what are you going to do,,everyone of us will say we should have spoke up,,the protest infront of the auto oshow was a pathetic 4-5 hundred people,,i was there,,drove 8 hours for a bunch of bs that came from all of us and no one shows,,back down more and more people.there should have been atleast ten thousand people there but i quess the playoffs are more important,,and when nyour team gets knocked out lets see if you say you need a new coach

I agree. Ima, that I was troubled about that also, and the extremety of the slant, which is why I did not comment but posted to let others judge for themselves. I did, however, find Gettlefinger's so-called back-ground disturbing, if true.

we need . . . someone who will say if you want a plant closed then we will close all of them . . . some one who will let the ship sink with a little self respect and respect for us

Wow!!! What a great post.

You are truly a man of vision with a clear cut plan for what needs to be done. Although I wouldn't have a vote in the election, I would hope you for run for office ASAP. Leaders like you don't come around very often so you'd probably be elected in a landslide.

There is one little point about your action plan that I would appreciate you clarifying.

After all the plants get shut down and the "ship sinks," what happens next?

lol that managment screwed us,,,no i will say that every uaw employee LET management screw us,,and whats really funny is that the uaw national is helping them screw us and all we do is sit here hoping we will see a little glimmer of hope on a freakin web site.as for the ship sinking what would i say..i would not let the ship sink is what i would say,i would make sure managment knows if they mess around with us,our living standards, our quality of life that we break our backs for there will be serious reprocutions and they will have to face the facts that they cannot beat a union that stands together.i do however agree that things should be given back as long as it benefits both parties involved,,how about say ok we know this guy is going to othe doc every week to get a note to awol,,get rid of him because he is hurting everyone.some one who pulls medical half the year, unless it is a real case, should go,,then for everyone you let go you have to hire 2 to oreplace them,,it saves the company money in payroll since they do o not come in at scale,it also raises our numbers,,in all both parties benifit,,not just one as our last vote only did

it is easy for you to sit there and come up with 'your' great ideas..when you are NOT working putting up with the crap we do and i feel the same way instead of taking all these pay cuts(which is only temporary then they will close eventually and go to china) just FUCKING CLOSE THEM ALL NOW!

Hmm take a pay cut and have a job for a couple years (according to you) or shut all the plants down and be out of a job now? That isnt hard to figure out what I would want...

Anyways...from my observation, the Union doesn't really give a shit about its workers, nor can they since the company that employees the union is in such bad shape.

What it boils down to is that everyone is pretty much fucked and there isnt much you can do about it except wait for the next shoe to drop...

Maybe you should have gone to college after all  ;)

Dark,

Please let me respectfully respond to that, and to anyone else who believes we should just "pack it in."

Many on here can't understand why our government won't do something, our union, and just about anyone else that could is also thrown in there.

Well, here is what I say, and if you laugh, I really don't care, so here goes--------------> I REFUSE to cede another industry without a fight to Japan, even if I am fighting alone. I also refuse to allow a company born in America to die, just because of indifference from politicians, or others who are making deals in the background. A Toyoty in every driveway in our country!?!?!?! I don't think so!! China wants in????? So does every damn company in the world, and they want our dollars to flow elsewhere, over there, not here.

You see, we may be a dieing breed, but we are not a stupid breed by any stretch of the imagination. What is it going to take to survive??? Well, like it or not, someone is going down in this industry; and when it happens and the economic impact hits, congress will react. Remember, the one that goes is not shrinking into oblivion slowly, its overhead is sooooooo large, it can't pay its bills so will collapse on itself. This will cause an economic vaccuum that politicians will have no choice but to address, like it or not. Take 4 to 9 million built cars........even temporarily out of the economy along with the jobs that produce them, and even John Q Public is gonna want to know what is going on.

The stockmarket will also respond to this; very negatively I might add. Start costing people money, and you better believe a whole bunch of someones is going to start demanding difficult answers.

The point of all of this is, the companies left will get some sort of"backhanded help" to shut the public up, especially if it is near election time.......and it is always to close to election time for politicians, lolol!!!

If my theory is true, or even probable, or even possible, do you still want to pull the plug and be the one to cause it, or do you want to stick around to be one of the ones who finally receive some recognition that it is not all our fault, and it can be fixed with a little assistance?????

Not everyone goes to college in this country, and yes, we do have a large underclass in many of our largest cities. Where will they have even an opportunity to work if all these jobs go? Are they to become permanent welfare recipients with no hope of making a decent wage? If UAW pressure on the transplant companys disappear, they will be able to freeze, or even lower their wages and benefits. They will no longer have to even pretend to keep their workforce happy.

There are many social, ethical, economic, and pure American pride reasons to save these companys, and while we aren't happy at the moment, we all still need to look at the big picture. Many besides our familys rely on us.

So then, I may be one of the last in the plant still screwing cars together, but I am still going to tell Toyoty, Kia, and Hyundai to go "f*** themselves! I ain't giving it to ya till they make me do it." It is now personal.

A very wise man once said, "a country that makes nothing, is worth nothing!" If we lay down cause it is the easiest thing to do, history will probably not look to kindly upon our memory!!! If the easiest thing to do was the right thing to do, more than likely, everyone would do the right thing, lol.

Nope, as far as I am concerned, THEY AIN"T GETTING ANY MORE, NOT ANY PERCENT OF MARKETSHARE THAT WE CAN STOP, or punish them so much for it, it becomes to costly to make it worth it!!!! And if I can stick a DC nutrunner or air motor up their rearend in the process, I am doing that too!!!

good points and for the most part, i agree with you...but that is not the 'real' world! all these 'americans' help put us here..yes the american that bought jap cars, and the american that leads 'our' companies ETC.... i agree with your rally cry....but it is jsut that a rally cry....cause in the END american jobs will be lost..all because people want a 'deal' sorry to sound 'doom and gloom' but sometimes that is reality!

have you followed the clothing industry.....well this was in my local paper....and to sum it up...read the highlighted part
