Defective Rear Axle Differential From Factory

Recommended Posts

I ordered an F-350 in January 2023. The truck arrived at the dealer in late March and I took delivery of the truck on 4/3/23 with plans of towning a 43' 5th wheel camper. By 4/17/23 the truck was returned to the dealer with less than 1,000 miles on it. I informed the delaer it was a bearing issue during my service request. On 4/20/23 the truck was returned to me citing the noise I was hearig was related to a brake issue that was now resolved. Almost immediately after picking the truck up the sound returned, less than a mile drive from the dealer. Due to the birth of my son I was not able to return the truck to the dealer immediately for repair a second time. On 4/27/23 I took 2 technicians with me on a drive to ensure they too were able to hear and potentially identify the bearing issue once and for all. On 4/29/23 the dealer sent me a message through their text notification update system stating the issue was the rear axle carrier differential. To make matters worse there is no end in site how long this repair is to take due to the age of truck and parts availability. Why individual components are being sought in lieu of an entire new axle assembly for the repair is beyond me.

The dealer has been worthless, Causeway Ford  Manahawkin, Nj, with their product support. Providing no options for an equivalent temporary vehicle. So at this point I have opened a lemon law case number,
CAS-42664378-T2Y7T4, in the event there is a third time for my truck. The dealer had made no report to Ford about my truck being in the shop either. I am now working with Ford Friends and Family and have a case with them as well case number, CAS-42763666-G2R1V4. I am seriously considering contacting my attorney and filing loss of use and damages lawsuit.

After a lifetime time of being Pro Ford needless to say I have purchsed my last and will not recommend purchases to others in the future. I now also fully regret making the purchase and not pursuing other manufacturers that were evaluated prior to the purchase of the 2023 F-350 equipped with 7.3L gas engine and other as I specified in my original truck order.

I hope this message finds whatever leader in their cozy office setting as I suffer the consequences of a ford factory defective product that was produced by ford, its automotive suppliers, and workforce.

Does you truck have the Dana rear axle?  There have been issues with the new Dana axles since they were introduced in 2020.  Hopefully your lemon-law case will push Ford to replace the whole axle assembly.

I will have to double check my build sheet. I do know I ordered the truck with a 3.73 gear ratio though.
