  1. If you really need a 6 Passenger Vehicle, um doesnt the Edge fit the bill? Seems like your flip flopping...and the main reason the Windstar and Freestar was so cheap was the huge discounts on them! The pricing is a non-issue for the most part, I comparied the prices of the Flex at a Ford Dealership and then looked at a Chrysler dealership for a Town and Country which is littary across the street from it, guess what...they where nearly Identical in price for all the models they had in stock/coming in! I didn't break it down by options, but the Trim levels that Ford and Chrysler used priced virtually identically.
  2. With the current sales of RWD models that are on the market today, I wouldn't say the market is excatly beating a door down for them....
  3. Wrong answer, over 70% of people who cliniced the vechicle during development WOULD NOT BUY it with sliders. Sliders are over rated by many people on here, I don't see the fact that an SUV didn't have them hurt them in sales at all in their hayday and my sister gets long fine with her Explorer with 2 kids under 5 years old in the back.
  4. Um compared to what? Maybe Ford should Focus on pricing too since there seems to be preconcevied notions that the car is too expesive comparied to what else on the market it competes with! Guess you missed this part too:
  5. Well looks like the Treasury Dept might be helping this along....but I wonder what Ford will get out of the deal for not being a part of it... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081027/bs_nm/us_financial_gm
  6. I don't even know why they where built at the time, the cab did look different then they normally do..I wonder if they where cobbled together with some other ranger built across the globe
  7. They can make a Crew Cab Ranger, Nick...they had a couple one offs up at the Edison assembly plant before they closed it in the parking lot to use as secutry vechicles
  8. The Solstice and Sky are nice, but no way could I ever get one since I can't fit into them...I had zero foot room in the one at the autoshow I sat in and I'm 6'2!
  9. I wouldn't count it as dead, just the next generation model is dead...the Suburban was around for a long time before the SUV boom even took off..there is a market for it, just not as big as one as there was 10 years ago Anyways, Ford would could make some serious headway since the F-150 and Expedition are on the same platform keeping costs down on a next Gen Expedition...
  10. I hope they didn't change the greenhouse too much, that was the strongest design element that mimiced the current Explorer
  11. Well the old F-body V8s used to get better MPG then the old Mustang, mostly due the use of a 6 speed transmission, but thats pretty much out the window now with the new 5L and 6 speed. Who knows maybe we'll see a 6 Speed on the 2010 Mustang with 4.6L...that could open up some interesting possibilities when it comes to improving the current cars performance...
  12. It might be happening now, I thought they where going to start making them in November/December...this the first car Ford has launched without the three month quaitly hold build on the cars before going to the dealerships
  13. I think its going to be the same thing as the Escape vs the Edge.... Not an issue at all
  14. I was under the impression that the 4.4L v8 was based on the 3.9L engine....of course Imight be confused
  15. I was speaking about the Jaguars and Volvos it was used in
  16. I'm sure if its P, the IP addresses will be the same or maybe he got smart.....but his true stripes will come out again
  17. The Taurus X is going away next spring with the new Taurus... It is an Explorer Replacement, no ifs or doubts about that. In all seriousness, how many people Tow with an Explorer? Yeah you can do it but I'd be willing to bet that less then 15% of all Explorers are used to Tow and if they are, its not done on a daily basis. Acadia vs Explorer...stupid argument..the Acadia is slotted with the Flex not Explorer!
  18. I can get about 22 MPG in mixed driving with my Mustang GT...If they can get the 5L up to 24-25 they'll have a winner. Keep in mind the new EPA fleet MPG regs are based on the old standards, not the new EPA ratings that went into effect a couple years ago...so new Focus would be rated at 40 MPG or so instead of 35-38
  19. The only problem with the Explorer America Concept is the way over done grill/headlight treatment on it..I'm sure it will be toned down a bit But it also Begges the question of how the up coming kinetic styling from Europe will be integrated with the Truck lineup in NA.
  20. Is there really a reason too? There isn't a huge difference between the 2 to justify it. I wonder at Mazda's ideas...they only offer the 2.3L in the 3 and it will grow to 2.5L in the next gen. The 3.7l is a bit overkill for the 6 IMO...I'd think they offer something smaller to improve upon their MPG
  21. 2.49 on Fort Dix and in the towns just outside of it (about as close as you can get to being country bumpkin in NJ)
  22. Its an engineering mule, The Flex looked like a Freestyle with some funky looking extensions on it I seriously doubt that it will have a range of 20 city/30 highway, more like 22-30 or so
  23. The LS motor was far too expensive use in either the MKS or Taurus, since it was designed for a car that costs 40k+
  24. These are the same people bitching about why Ford has the Edge and Escape when the Edge Launched. Keep in mind the Taraus X is dead after next Spring with the new Taurus launching. Plus with the Explorer, it will take care of all those people bitching that the Flex is too expesive. I can see the new Explorer starting out at in the mid-to-High 20s and Toping out at 45K or so for Limited Models.
