  1. Allpar sends warnings if you say something like "The LH cars were not that good" or "Good riddance to the Neon" To them, they are 'treasured cars". :P I dont miss that site at all.
  2. I dunno, I think the Caliber will follow the Neon's track. Trendy one year, out the next. The interior is pretty cheap, its doesn't get that good gas mileage, and it rides rough. So say some who bought one. Shows that it is hard to compete in segments aimed at 'youth'.
  3. Die haters! Anyway, Titan is not taking any sales from anyone.
  4. Oh boy 15K for a VW!! With plastic hubcaps, black rub strips, and base suspension. Saw a few, it's not a Porsche, its a German Corolla, so it is worth less $$. The whole "VW is a luxo brand" was foolish. Now wasn't it recently that BikerMan wanted the Focus to be higher priced. Now does cart wheels because the 'new Golf' is cheaper????
  5. Umm, great that the Challenger is coming. But answer this: Why the 'employee discounts'? Why all the unsold product? Some think that Mopar offers new RWD V8 cars, they 'must be doing good'. Well, look at the balance sheets 1st.
  6. Riahard Petty plays a Plymouth Super-Bird, not 'Super Bee'. The S. Bee was the Dodge version of the Road Runner. The Charger Daytona was the twin of the Super Bird. Just ask 'hemi'. lol
  7. If it is "bye bye Freestyle", it would then have to be 'hello 3rd seat' in the Edge.
  8. Well, shows that selling Taurases at a loss will eventaully hurt! "total disinterest in the products that Ford sells" Well, it is not, repeat, not the 20th Century anymore and no one cares about how 'modern' the 1986 Taurus was 20 years ago. Import makes have more plants and more dealers, and offering 'something that reminds me of my old 86 ...' means squat to most people. MF got Mazda on track, by making good products, not keeping an old car around and saying 'but it's like the good old days'. Sitting around going "gosh those old cars were great, why can't it be 1965 [or 1986, or 1959...] again?" is a death sentance.
  9. So sick of these so called 'real men' who claim the Panther is what should be the only car made in the USA, :blah: Well, real men, get over yourself, the rest of the world isn't kissing your ass anymore, and you really dont "know everything". 1. Gas ain't cheap anymore, and never will be, so V8/RWDcars are not coming back as big as 40 years ago. 2. Most people couldn't care less about the 1950's and 'standard Fords'. 3. Mopar's 300 has peaked, and the Dodge Chrager/Magnums are not selling as well. AND THEY ARE UNIBODY! 4. GM's RWD will not set world on fire. Most will kick tires then go get a Toyota FWD car. 5. Toyota and all are not going anywhere 6. Elected Republicans use 'family values' to get votes, then tell Ford to F.O, so why should Ford care about "real men"?? 7. No, America is not going to go back to wifey in the kitchen, Daddy working at the plant and buying BOF V8's every year. 8. Ethanol ain't cheap either 9. Women control the car purchase decision in 60% of cases. and 10. All other car companies sell and market to women, non straight men, and even people who are actaully not white!! Looks like all the "cave man" will have to build their own mode of transportation!
  10. Well, it's EPA mileage is lower than the Focus, 21 or 22 mpg city. Don't think that is an answer to high gas prices.
  11. Oh God, if Ford brought the Fiesta based 'suv', the Analysts would have a feast knocking Ford for its stark looks. "Baby 500" anyone? It's a 1998 product, not a nearly 2008!
  12. May as well be talking about Horse drawn Buggies. The real world is over the old time 'classic cars', just see all the latest auto auctions. Ad LaSalle? Was a flop in its day, but that was an eternity ago. Some will have thir old biases, but time moves on. And the CTS sure made a LoSer out of that LS with its billion $ rebates
  13. People are being 'chicken littles'. Did anyone even read the article? When Nissan has mostly out going models to sell, and buyers know full well new ones are coming, what do you expect? And the "Buy only Toyota or Honda" fanatics always like to sound the alarms too. One little thing goes wrong and a car company [that is not Toyonda] is 'going under'. What about Toyonda's recalls? {"A chance to shine" is what they are called}. And just because some didn't like the dash pieces in the 2002 Altimas is also not a reason to "cry wolf"
  14. I agree, Ford has nothing to worry about. This new GMT900 will get the GM loyalists, but no crosstown rival owners. Toyota's new Tundra will just get import owners afriad of any US make.
  15. It is seen as a small SUV instead of a wagon. So, for the next gen Focus hatches, add AWD, raise it a few inches, viola a 'small SUV' to appease the Greenies. Same for the Fusion/500, add a hatch and call the AWD versions "SUV's". The truck lving public will come running. [actaully this one is a stretch]
  16. Jac should be sued for back pay.
  17. 80% of Camrys and Accords have 4 bangers. The HP race in this car class is over, with gas being so $$$ now. Now it is the "MPG race". What Ford needs more than hi HP is a hybrid Fusion. And boy racers can cry all day about how much they hate them, but gas ain't ever going to be cheap again. A hybrid would be good PR. AWD is good for the SUV owners that want to downsize
  18. Y2k bombs. Ford USA would have been better off delaying the Focus until MY2001 to get bugs worked out. But Jac had to get them out! Why even in 1999 was there still quality issues with new cars? Had not companies learned anything by then? This is #1 reason Focus has lost sales. If they were built well from year one, the current cars would not be so looked down upon.

    Saw a 2007

Checked the 2007 Focus overview, and the color I saw was the new "Aqua Blue". The new Leather interior lokks nice too. Just need to see what the 'revised' model for 2008 will consist? "C170 Version 2.0" ?
  20. "2006 Ford Crown Victoria is the most popular fleet vehicles since the legendary Plymouth Fury." Umm, you mean the Volare based Gran Fury of the 80's, which sold 90% fleet, and 10% old timers. It was far from the 1960's 'legandary' cars, with the 120 hp 318.
  21. VW and Audis cost more for thier 'differences', which ar hard to spot. Chrysler and Dodge are hardly a good example for differetiation. Only the high priced LX cars looks different, but the Chrysler Aspen looks just like a Durango with a 300 grille. and the minivans are clones. And Hi HP is not the "big thing" now, economy is back, or do you own a gas station? Toyota isn't bragging about their 268 HP, but their Hybrids, which some think power all their cars.
  22. Remove the discounts and the % #'s are lower. Still low resale means harder to sell when you want a new one. Last year the Neon and Taurus were the bottom 2.

    Saw a 2007

The "speedy motors" are now not desirable with high gas prices. Looks like the HP race is over, for now.
  24. Well, the X type was new for 2001, so yeah they'd be working on it and made the decision at least by 1997-99. Heck, let's bring Jac the knife back too!
  25. Toyota will have a hard time pushing big trucks, and still maintain the 'green' and 'small car' image. And no, Thom Friedman, none of the Tundras are hybrinds nor do they get over 25 mpg. OTOH, Ford natics expect the company to make all muscle cars and trucks or the 1986 Taurus to come back. Get a clue.
