Agree 100% with your C2 comments but Ford’s other big issue is how they allowed suppliers to control them with software defined modules - can you imagine 150-200 different parts/sub assemblies where an OEM like Ford has little/no control over the software in these items…….no wonder complexity has increased and costs sky rocketed. It’s basically accountant based and the justification has always been that it’s cheaper to outsource most things, Farley confirming that Ford saved $500/vehicle by doing that and then wondering why everything became so difficult to make and sell without glitches and warranty issues…. Again, the amount of self wounding that comes from trying to save money……..

I remember watching a Sandy Munro video about Ford, he said as a corporate, they rush around like an elephant. By that he meant that when Ford makes up its mind to do something, it goes all in single focused and forgets about all the other important things it needs to keep doing, absolutely no reason why they had to drop off a full throated C2 product onslaught. Somehow, Ford turned that int an either/or choice vs BEVs or some other pet project. using Heritage names ( Europe using Explorer and Capri names)

‘Over 1 Million’ People Wanted a Cybertruck. Where Are They?
jpd80 replied to Sherminator98's topic in E.V. Central
Remember how certain types got all twisted up when someone would call Cybertruck a novelty item? It might be fantastic but nobody really wants it anymore and I don’t think it can be sold in Europe either. Lightning may have its faults but I have a feeling that it will outlive Cybertruck -
BOC was another earlier example of Farley swinging for the fences, great if it had paid off but the demand for T3 BEV F150 just isn’t there yet and there’s no point just trying to will it into existence in the original volumes. The place is massive, there’s every possibility that a HEV/PHEV plan could be built on site as well as the BEV plant, even if temporary in terms of say next ten years. The proximity of healthy battery supplies alone should be incentive enough to at least consider…
-
Hopefully the current economic climate makes Ford think more creatively…… These smaller new affordable BEVs are becoming reality in the next year or so but there’s absolutely no guarantee that the uptake from buyers will be anything like that expected a couple of years ago, even last year…. There’s got to be a way that Ford can adjust its plans so that C2 production can cover all the “product holes” until enough buyer embrace BEVs so that anything like a mass transition can occur…. Not saying that they should tear up everything, just take necessary steps to ensure that vehicle supplies are not held to ransom by whatever trouble comes along…

Lincoln has another new President

Oh, I was referring to much longer than that but yes, absolutely, the switch to BEVs has really dried up the pipeline for Lincoln -

Seriously, a Lincoln CEO is just “minding the store” and will sell whatever products are made available by Ford. -
Maybe there’s a simpler way for Ford to negotiate this with the government as equal or adjusted trade between Ford US and Ford Canada. Example, for every ten F150s that get sent to Canada, Canada can send eight Super Duty into USA. Just thinking this could be sorted on a case by case situation and the spirit of USMCA?

Ranger Super Duty Revealed
jpd80 replied to DeluxeStang's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
The Ranger Raptor and SD Ranger are now just as wide as the F150 thanks to the pushed out wheels and wheel arches. and it wouldn’t surprise me that the weight of SD Ranger is very close to F150, all things ot be considered… -
'25 1st Quarter Sales Results

Thanks Bob, that makes a lot of sense as the 600 is a natural extension of the 550 that fleets have requested for ages. So yes, F600 pulling from F550 but I noticed in its first 12 months F650 sales took a dive while the F600 was rising so maybe from both directions and exactly because of the reasons that the sales person gave…..it’s a nice truck too. -
Ranger Super Duty Revealed

The Squircle wheel arches probably look weird to us Ford fans but clearly intended to draw sales away from Toyota buyers but also adding clear differentiation between the Super Duty and regular Ranger models like Raptor, tremor and Sports. It is what it is and for the intended buyers (Toyota/commercial) probably reinforces what they are used to or like. If this was developed in the US, I see Ford looking to pinch Tacoma buyers. -
'25 1st Quarter Sales Results
jpd80 replied to ANTAUS's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Normally, I’ve taken those Heavy Truck sales to mean F650/750 because there were other figures I used to get from Crain that indicated that as Ino longer have that data subscription as bloody expensive. What I suspect is that F600 has done exactly what Ford wants and halved F650 sales with a lower cost truck based on an extension of F550. There’s no sign of Ford ending Heavy Truck production but I agree with Bob’s previous comments about offering more industry standard equipment otherwise sales will zero out. last time I looked back when F600 was in first year or so, F750 we’re only a small fraction of the figures Heavy truck sales, in the order of a couple of hundred, it might be better or worse these days… -
Ranger Super Duty Revealed
jpd80 replied to DeluxeStang's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Watch Paul Maric’s YouTube commentary I posted recently it explains the situation. He suspects that it will be offered in North America but currently for Australia New Zealand, Maybe South Africa. (Think about it, Ford offering updated Ranger markets where F150 is not normally sold) Pricing for Australia has not been officially release but many think it will be around Raptor money considering these are XL trim (XLT later), I think that complements their importation and conversion F150 4x4 XLT/Lariat models. Hope this helps with understanding Bottom line, you already have reasonably priced F150/ 250 in USA, would Ford Nth America build and sell SD Ranger to go against them? -
Ranger Super Duty Revealed

No they don’t and the big hope is that it will be offered as an option for vehicles that go to areas where extra fuel range is needed rather than trying to carry Jerry cans… -
Ranger Super Duty Revealed
jpd80 replied to DeluxeStang's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
For now, production will be limited to Thailand but there is an outside of this making it stateside. This is basically Ford going after the older Landcruiser pickup market and it valuable commercial sales as service vehicles, forestry and rescue vehicles so no the price will be up around Raptor. -

'25 1st Quarter Sales Results
jpd80 replied to ANTAUS's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Just some thoughts… The big issue with GE1 and GE2 is cost but maybe Ford was too far down the track to cancel the GE2 Mach E, it could actually be a cost effective make over of the current Mach E to help recoup more costs. I would prefer to See Mach E move to CE1 but can see why this may not happen but perhaps moving Mach E from Mexico to Louisville CE1 is something to be considered… -

I believe this is the same theory as remove Edge so Mach E gets more sales. So in that theory, Ford will remove Escape and its hybrid in hopes that increases interest in CE1 pickup and Utility.
