  1. I'm sorry, I guess I should have made it very clear that statement was my speculation.
  2. Monday, August 21, 2006. We'll have till Sept 8th, to decide. After the 5 straight weeks of downtime, we'll be on one shift.
  3. I made some phone calls to my people and this IS accurate.
  4. The end is near...... I'm not sure if I should be happy or what........... :happy feet: Just get it over already.
  5. Define "close".... I think we'll be "laid-off" then but not completely closed.
  6. Ya, I'd give up $1.25 an hour to keep a plant open. I understand that for many people Ford is all they have and that some will lose everything after their plant closes. So if I could "sacrifice" $1.25 to save 3000 jobs sure I would. If I gave up $5.00 an hour could we keep 3 open? Would still be making over $21/hour.
  7. Hey Hoosier.... AWESOME FUCKING POST!
  8. I doubt that the Mustang will move. I doubt that much will change at Flatrock, AAI. Mustang sales have leveled off and I would expect only the mix of engines to change. Most rental fleet Mustangs are V6's and the Shelby GT and GT500 aren't going to increase total volume. Plus, future competition will not increase demand. What current flex-plant is set-up (or could be) to run both body-on-frame and uni-body vehicles? It would cost a lot of money to move the Mustang AGAIN and I don't think it needs its own plant. The Mazda 6 platform is already built in multiple locations. Flatrock, MI, Hermosillio, Mexico and in Japan. In fact the MazdaSpeed 6 is not built in Flatrock, but imported from Japan. I also don't know of any more future product plans that come off the Mazda 6 platfrom. The Edge and MkX (Mazda CX-7) might be built on a variation of the 6 platform (not sure), which would add yet another location to build from. I think their is a market for mid-size body-on-frame SUV's ie. Explorer. I think Ford will continue to produce the Explorer, where and what volume is a completely different story though. I don't see the Edge taking Explorer sales, I see it taking Escape sales. Toyota has both the Highlander and 4Runner in it's lineup, and it is the redesigned RAV4 that is taking Highlander sales. Sorry for being all-over the place but it's all just speculation anyway.......
  9. What you got a demotion?
  10. Hey, He's right then..... oh... no... wait though..... it wasn't Mark Field's that made the announcement it was some ohter schmuck from Dearborn via tape delayed video. I'm still mad at our Union for holding a press conference before we got the "official" word. I think we should all create pseudonyms and post all the idiotic bullshit we can come up with. Hell, even guessing we'll have a shot at being right.
  11. I love the mob mentallity. What would you do to protect your way of life? Would you attack your invaders, on their own turf? Human Rights are something that should be sought globally. While youngstap's comments are (in my opinion) objectionable they are certainly legally rightfully his to make, it is also your right to object. To threaten violence against him makes you no better than a terrorist. In fact I think it defines you as a terrorist. :fan:
  12. Hi, Welcome to BON. Thanks for the info, but the Wizard already told us about the pull-forward of the NAP closure. Further prior to that speculation had NAP with 7 down weeks during the 4th quarter. Those downweeks would be Oct 16th, Oct 23rd, Oct 30th, Nov 27th and all of Dec.
  13. I grew up in that country area (Saline) and took a flowback transfer to NAP. I figured somebody might get the joke but not many. Have they started work on the Toyota location yet? Any escapee's lately? HVMF or Psycho ward??
  14. Ya.... it's gonna be a while before anybody is transfering from NAP to DTP. But hey I know I'm looking at property. How about the corner of Bemis Rd & Platt...... either side of Bemis North or South. :-)
  15. Does the Explorer Sport Trac not fit your bill? 4 Doors, but a small box, comes with a 300hp V8 (I think) It was redesigned for 06 and is a huge leap forward from the previous generation.
  16. Ya, next week sounds about right..... Ya know NAP's not working next week right?
  17. Wow... thanks wiz.... When GM did their buyout with the $140,000 they did not offer the education package. Do you know if Ford is going to continue to offer the education package as a buyout option?

    MTP

Okay everybody lets have some fun.... MTP will stay open and work 3 crew production of F-Series, Nav, Exped. DTP will stay open and work 3 crew production of F-Series ONLY. KCAP will close completely. KTP will stay open producing the SuperDuty and E-Van (shifts and production to be determined) The 2 truck plants in Detroit can build 5 shifts of F-Series and 1 shift of Nav, Exped. or some combination thereof. I don't think the new Exped will be a huge hit, I don't care that you claim to have 107,501 orders it's still a gas pig and nobody wants a gas pig. New Edge from OTP will displace Escape in 3 years. KCAP is done mark my words. WAP will stay open but ONLY with major contractual consessions. It will produce both the Focus and the Reflex. CAP will stay open producing the: 500, Montego, FreeStyle, Fairlane(minivan thing), MKS and Ford version of MKS (Crown Vic replacment) I could sit here and BS all night about what's going to happen but it just that people BS. You can't control what is going to happen so just relax and roll with it. :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :fan: :fan: :fan: And have a nice day here at ...... Cedar Point.
  19. I'd love to see a Fusion coupe in production, especially if they offered the RX-8 rear doors. Doesn't have to be a hatchback but it could. Oh and btw -- It wouldn't have anything to do with the Toyota Solara or Honda Accord Coupe ...naahhh it's all about the G6. Highly reccomend a test drive of a G6, it isn't all that, reminds me of a late 90's Accord. I drove a 4 door 4 banger rental with less than 5k on the odo. Not impressed at all. It was a well put together car, but CHEAP everywhere. Sure the plastic was better but still not that good. Exterior mirrors way too small, poor visiblity multiple blind spots. I was trying to figure out how the rear seats fold down and popped the entire rear seat bottom cushion out of the car, nice snap fit CRAP!

  21. You seem to doubt that Consumers Reports is a un-biased magazine. They will be the first group to jump all over this story.... although the spin will be...... that Ford bumpers are too high and result in firery death to smaller vehicle passengers. Come on man think like they do.... join the borg! You will be assimilated.
  22. 3 weeks off? Seems to me we were on vacation for 2 weeks and laid-off only one. If you have direct deposit it should be about 10 days from July 21st that you'll receive your sub-pay. Unemployment comp will take a bit longer by just a couple days though. Hopefully, you've made good decisions about money and that you'll appreciate these funds and see them for what they are. Money for not working = free money. :happy feet:
  23. I haven't heard of this at Ford or Visteon but I'm certain it was on the table with Delphi. I think the pay cut was down to $15/hour. I don't remember the exact details but it has certainly been brought up. Also, this was done at a Chrysler plant (I believe in Indiana) that was sold to Metaldyne. The employees were offered retirement buyouts, transfers or $100,000 to stay but take a huge paycut. I'm sure you could find the details on this somewhere on the net. Hope this helps..... As the UAW usually does in the case of plant closings and sales, the International negotiated a relatively soft landing for the New Castle workers. They will have the right to transfer to other Chrysler plants (the nearest is 60 miles away), and get help with moving costs. Those few who elect to stay in New Castle and work for Metaldyne at 37% less pay will get lump sum payments of up to $100,000, for those with ten years’ seniority. http://www.labornotes.org/archives/2003/07/c.html
  24. From the 919 Messenger ..... Ed Hay... "What is important to know about a shift reduction is the amount of time required to facilitate this, which is about 6 to 8 months respectively. It is a very complex process that requires reductions by not only seniority between shifts, but in all classifications as well." Can someone from SLAP verify this timeline? How much time did you get between the announcment of going to one shift and it happening? Oddly enough Ed's article in the Messenger is the best of the stuff in the magazine. He also gives some detail with regards to the retirement/buyout/transfer packages. Which have NOT been offered at NAP. The Wizard mentioned in another topic that "additional actions" really means speeding up previously announced plans such as closures. I SUSPECT that this means that within 60 days NAP will get notification of going to one shift. I also suspect many down weeks between now and the end of the year. Currently 1 in August, 3 in September, I think we'll see more in October and December. (November has too many holidays) See ya'll at work Monday.
  25. So I was bored today, and went to the Career and Education Fair at the plant, waste of time. Spoke with a supervisor that said only one down week in August but September is now 3 weeks, he'd just come from a meeting where it was announced. He also said they were having trouble with the launch in KC and that they would have 4 down weeks. Anyone at KC want to chime in on that????? (I suspect it's actually Kentucky) P.S. -- Tank .... I really understand what your saying and your reasoning but then why does Ford give severance packages to salaried employees that are seperated/fired from the company?
