    This was the former Ford CEO Hackett's doing. He nickel and dimed a lot of the content out of all of the trim levels to increase the margins. His argument was that nobody uses those features. Glad he's long gone!!

    According to the Automotive News production report for October, they only produced 1,755 Expeditions and about 500 Navigators. Definitely a slow roll-out. Not sure if they are being extremely cautious or having issues.

    Ordered a 'standard length' Ruby Red 2018 4WD Platinum. Opted for the 2nd Row Captain Chairs in Ebony, HD Towing Package, and Floor Liners. Had two previous Expeditions and Explorer with DVD/CD Players, which didn't get a lot of use, so opted out of the headrest units.

    I ordered a Platinum on the 15th, when the order bank opened. The first day of production is 9/25, and being a brand new model, it will take some time before they are released for sale....sometimes as long as 6 weeks. November is probably optimistic.

    I just took delivery of a 2017 Platinum to replace our 2012 Explorer. I can say the Platinum does have ambient lighting. The Sync3 interface is a bit different...actually better for picking the color and adjusting the intensity. On another note, the Vehicle Health Report function is no longer available. I think they want you to use Ford Pass on your iPhone or Android in its place.

    Yes, they kinda half a$$ed it. You have to touch the keypad. I suspect the upgrading of door handles, similar to your SHO and my wife's Explorer, wasn't in scope for the MCE. Even so, this is a nice vehicle. I have a Platinum with 22" wheels and auto suspension. I traded a 2010 limited. Never thought I would like a V6 over a V8, but the performance is amazing.
