  1. I know that when someone wants an answer to a question, that after you sort through the trolls, that a valuable answer can almost always be found here. I have a question and was hoping for an answer. If a person is holding a local UAW Officials position (Committee man,Benefits Rep, etc.), and a promotional bid job opens up, is that official allowed to bid on that position and keep that classification and pay grade even though they will not be taking the job ? For Example: - a position for a leader opens up. Your Committee man bids on it and gets the job and pay raise that goes with it. He stays on as committee man and doesnt fill that job. He may fill that job in a few years if he doesnt get re-elected, he may never take the job if he does get re-elected. Is there somewhere in the contract that I can read that they are able to do this? I have tried finding this language everywhere and I cant find anything. If someone knows where it is in the contract, can you point it out to me please? Thanks for any help.
  2. I havent seen that email yet, but according to the contract summary highlights pamphlet the union passed out, page 6, we receive the profit sharing payout in Nov. 2011. It doesnt give the exact date, but it still says Nov.2011. So the company is wasting no time balking at the agreement we just signed, or the IUAW put that timeframe in the highlights to bullshit us, or both. Im betting on both.
  3. ok, since you went there, I personally am happy that Ford Motor followed through on the negotiated contract between them and Alan Mullaly. Now I want Ford Motor to follow through on the negotiated contract between them and the UAW. I am talking about the contract we agreed to in 2007. Before the temp. changes that became permanent. I want the $20,000 or more that every brother and sister gave up to keep the company going returned to all of us. If the company is doing so well that it can compensate Mullaly and Ford, Jr. half of what they gave to the entire UAW workforce, then they can return my givebacks and give us what we negotiated and they can pay us what they OWE us.
  4. My biggest beef about the bonuses Alan and Bill got is that their bonuses is the equivalent to the bonuses of almost half our hourly work force. Throw in the next 8 execs and they got over half the hourly work force bonus (23,000 employees) for the Ford Top Ten. Ford Motor Co.has been promoting One Ford. We share the pain, we share the gain. Then when we sacrifice and things turn around, we should all share equally. How about the same profit percentage factor? Mullaly received 56 million bucks. What is the profit share percentage factor for him? 10 times annual salary ? If thats the case, we should all get a check for about $700,000 today if we are all equally sharing in the sucess. Obviously this number is obscene, but that is probably pretty close to the equivalent factor that Alan received.
  5. You are whining about no overtime ? You were never guaranteed overtime. Congrats on a new product. You have 40 per week job security. Thank God your job is safe while so many others struggle to feed their families on scraps while looking for work. Havent seen any overtime in over a year and the wage we make should let anyone live comfortably on 40 hours per week. Those damn commies won't let you work 20 hours of OT per week? Bastards !! LOL
  6. Well, as an American taxpayer, I dont believe my union brothers and sisters at GM should have received any profit sharing until the taxes that came out of all of our pockets to allow them to survive is returned. I also dont believe that the bankers on Wall Street that threw our nation into a tailspin, received a huge bailout from our tax dollars and then paid themselves enormous bonuses should have done that either. Everyone one of us have paid our fair share and more into the pool of resources that bailed out the bankers, GM, and Chrysler, and until the government money (Our Money, that is) is returned, the profits should be used to pay us back. This has nothing to do with the fact that the union GM workers worked hard, Im quite certain they did, just like any of us that have worked that line. My opinion is based solely on the fact that we, the taxpayers, have a huge outlay of cash into GM, money that the government has stated may never be totally paid back. If I loan my neighbor 100 bucks to feed his family this week, I dont want him taking a family vacation next month until he pays back my 100 either. The GM situation is the same, IMHO. Peace
  7. I cant speak for what anyone else received, but I called off work for the day, requested a vaction day for it, and they backed out out the vacation day and gave me 6.4 hours because of the snow day. I think that was outstanding.
  8. Whether or not I am made of sterner stuff than a pencil pusher has nothing to do with the fact that my car has 7" of clearance under it and there was 9" of snow that fell in my city. You dont prove your manhood by taking unnecessary chances, you prove it by being safe to take care of your family. Breaking down on the road or spinning out into a ditch while the road crews try their best to clean the roads doesnt make you a man.
  9. Glass House had a snow day yesterday. Why should Mullaly get the day off and I should come to work ? One Ford One Plan One Goal. But Glass House gets a snow day and you get your ass to work. Yeah Right.
  10. Well yes, Ford uses creative accounting skills to show they lost 38k for a minute of downtime, when they really didnt. Keep in mind when Ford has us work overtime, even though they are paying us time and a half, they actually save money because the cost per employee per hour is based on 40 hours per week. When they pay me overtime, they arent paying my health insurance, vacation, etc. It is included in my 40 hour work week. So Ive heard from Congress we are paid 75 bucks per hour when working 40 hours, on overtime we are only in the 42 buck per hour range because our benefits are included in the first 40 hours a week only. It all depends on who is doing the fuzzy math.
  11. To think he had to waste the time to write this instead of helping the guy out.
  12. We have a rumor in my plant that the bottom 25 people are going into permanent layoff or JSP. What is JSP exactly ? How is it different than GEN?
  13. Apparently the original poster of this message doesnt realize there is no 'midgrade' gasoline blend. They make regular and premium. When you select midgrade at the pump, you receive a 50/50 combo of regular and premium.
