Does anyone know if we're working tomorrow. They sent the afternoon shift home at 4:30pm. I don't know how their going to get trains in with parts if their on strike. With the snow storm coming tomorrow I can't see them trucking them in.

I work at STAP, and here in canada when i phoned dell they told me I have to get a certain number from labour relations at the plant(kind of like an employee discount number). I called labour relations and after searching different ford web sites they found the number and I got a discount for a relative. I think it's only like 5% but hey that's better then nothing. I hope this helps.

I work in the Body Shop and this past week there were a group of guys walking around with a bunch of blue prints. The writing on the prints that I could read said Wixom Equipment Replacement. Take it as you will but to me it sounds like their pricing out what it would cost to move it to STAP. Lets hope, I was told by one of the Foreman that they want the first Town Car of the line sometime in Nov 07.

Honestly if you don't know for sure then don't be saying shit on this site. So many people are sick of hearing stuff like, (I heard from someone's brother's sisters friend that we're closing in 2010) Rumors only cause employees alot of undue stress and discomfort. We'll all know when it comes out, until then go to work do your job and don't post rumors. People hear from reliable sources etc. that we're closing, in truth nobody knows, until we do know stop with the rumor shit. I don't even think top leadership in Dearborn knows, so if you know or your reliable source knows maybe you can inform Dearborn on what their future plans are. I thought Mark Fields said today that they have announced 16 plants in total that werer going to close including parts plants. I hope that's it. :shrug:

Yeah it said all 75000 employees will be offered buyouts. Which includes us.

Finally some news that doesn't leave us in the dark. I can't believe we'll be running 1 shift with the TC. Unless that's just until it comes then we're back on to.

the latest rumor i'm hearing about stap is 3 months lay-off to retool for the towncar. I've heard this atleast 4 times now from different people. 2 weeks on 2 weeks off until the big 3 month layoff. This is just what i'm hearing i know it's still a rumor so please don't chew my head off for saying it because i didn't start it. LOL

No lay-off for STAP next week. :shrug:

i heard that rumor also from my committe man on tuesday. Not a for sure thing yet.

This will eliminate overtime for those that come in on Saturdays. They will now come in on Fridays to work for straight time. The company will save alot of money by paying SWW rather then SUB to everyone. Profit margin will be much higher for our plant once this takes affect. Was told working 4 day work weeks will eliminate 5 down weeks.

I heard STAP has between 600-800 with 30+yrs. Alot of them are only 48yrs. old

That's $300 a month coming off our paychecks. Don't know about you guys but I can't afford that shit.

I think it all depends on the amount of buy-out packages offered. My seniority date is 2000. Some people say i'll be safe and some say i'll get hit. There are alot eligible for retirement now i'm hearing close to 600. Let's hope there's alot of buyouts. Also hearing anyone hired after 2000 will be hit with layoff but that's still unknown.Its a waiting game now. The unions going to fight to keep 2 shifts going with alternating layoff weeks. good luck.

what we're hearing at STAP today is sometime near the middle of 2007.

Fox channel 2 in Detroit is carrying the broadcast at 10:30 a.m. CNN will probably carry it live. If not they will for sure have updates all morning.
