  1. That is a beatiful rendition. A pillarless two door hardtop, or coupe, that looks like that would be a great addition. If pillarless, it would have an appearance advantage over the Altima coupe. It that car could be produced at the same price as the sedan, it would sell well in my opinion. Offer a base car and also an upgraded 3.5 version. Offer stick as well as automatic. I read some time ago that Ford was going to produce a coupe Fusion, but notice that some say it is dead. Is it really dead or are you just guessing?
  2. I have been a NASCAR fan for many years, but I am losing interest. When Mark Martin went into semi-retirement and Toyota started, it just became easier not to watch. If Ford can do it someway without hurting Roush and Robert Yates, I would like to see them just get out of it. Timing is everything. They should let Toyota invest a lot of cash over the next couple of years and then get out. If they and Chevy both could leave it, that would just leave Toyota and Dodge. I think it would sink the sport. That lesson would be good for both NASCAR and Toyota. They sort of deserve each other.
  3. Very enlightening. The Chinese cannot even make a safe, high-quality dog food or toothpaste. I doubt we have much to be concerned about with their vehicles.
  4. Another positive is that market share was up also. This is great news and should be welcome by all Blue Oval fans. I hope Ford can build on this.
  5. I strongly suspect that most of the environmentalists know that the warming of the earth and other changes are cyclical. Knowing this, they will claim that their efforts paid off when the warming slows or actual cooling takes place. This earth constantly changes and always has. A recent show on PBS illustrated this. There is a part of South Carolina that has white sand, but is not near the ocean. They said that this area was once ocean front property! Now it is hours away from the ocean. There were no cars, factories, etc. around when this changed, so who can we blame?
  6. Strange to say the least. He was driving a new Taurus, but spoke at length of Toyota, specifically the Prius. Somewhat interesting, but don't waste your time if you want information on the Taurus.
  7. What a beautiful vehicle. I am not even in the market for that type of vehicle, but still find it very tempting. If it is half as good as it looks, it will be a "best buy"!
  8. Unfortunately, as fuel economy increases, the oil companies will simply raise the price of fuel. I think they have finally realized what a favor the government has done for them by restricting drilling and forbidding new refineries. For years, the oil companies actually wanted to increase supply, but at last, they now realize why bother. This self-imposed shortage of fuel works to their advantage. So, I do not look to ever see a "cheap" fuel again.
  9. Congrats on your selection. Orange makes a great looking GT. Best wishes for your future with the Stang! Get home safe and enjoy it.
  10. If memory serves correctly, they are selling about the number they can produce. I think I have read that production capacity is around 150,000 for the Fusion. I do think that it is a good car, but will need some significant upgrades in the interior, power, etc. if it is to remain competitive.
  11. I had an experience that may give you more faith in the dealer. Back in 2003 I took my new GT to the dealer for an oil change. A guy working for the dealer backed an Explorer into my new car's front bumper. I was nice on the outside, while burning up inside. The dealer ordered a new bumper, painted it and installed it. The quality of the work was fine. The paint matched perfectly. Another positive was that upon doing a Carfax on the car a year later, the repair never made the record book. Additionally, the dealer provided a Mach 1 chin spoiler for free. And they installed it just like the factory. I was very pleased. Give the dealer a chance, you may be pleasantly surprised.
  12. I think the front end is awesome, just the kind of distinction that Lincoln needs. The rear may need a little more detail, but this is early in the process. This car would draw lots of attention for Lincoln and the lucky buyer who gets one.
  13. Sounds like you got a great deal. I really did not want a full size truck right now due to limited parking space. So, I just compared the Frontier to the Ranger. I could have got the Ranger for a little less equipped similarly to the Frontier, but not a substantial savings. At the time the Frontier just seemed like a lot more truck than the Ranger for not much more cash. Only time will tell if the Frontier is as good as a Ranger would have been. I really doubt if it will be as trouble free, but I probably won't have it much beyond warranty period.
  14. It stickered for $27,300. My trade in and cash was $24,000.
  15. I have tried twice to respond to Max, but my Internet service has been unreliable the last couple days. First, I did not consider a Sport Trac, as I wanted a longer bed. We will consider it when my wife trades in her car in a year or so. I think the Sport Trac would make a great replacement for a traditional sedan. My Frontier is white, LE King Cab.
  16. You will not get me to say that the Ranger is not a great little truck. I know too many people that own them and like them. A good friend of mine that works with the state highway dept. says that the Rangers outlast all the Chevys and Dodges. My point was that the Ford dealers would not deal with me for my mint Mustang the way the Nissan dealer would. It seems the Nissan dealer appreciated my car more than any Ford dealer I talked with. Also, after driving the two trucks, the Frontier was just more for the money. The Ranger I drove did have something strange about it I thought. During the test drive, I parked it at another dealer and looked over their trucks. I, and the friend with me, noticed from a distance of about 30 feet that the driver's side suicide door did not match the rest of the truck. It was a shade darker. The truck was Redfire metallic. It did not show any signs of repair, though that is a possibility. However, the paint was definitely defective. Anyway, had the deal been right, I would have probably had a new Ranger sitting in the garage rather than the Frontier.
  17. I did not seriously consider an F series due to the size and price difference. I have limited space for my vehicles at this time. If I were looking at a full-size pickup, which I may in a few years, the F-150 would be at the top of my shopping list.
  18. I am a loyal reader on this site, but seldom make comments. First, I am a Ford fan. My first car was a Ford and my next to last was a Mustang GT. I decided to sell my old truck (S-10) and trade my '03 GT and just go to a pickup. I was pretty much determined to get a Ranger. My wife, in casual conversation, mentioned that she had recently seen some good looking Nissan Frontiers. I generally like the Frontiers, but had not really considered one until that time. I shopped online and in person. I built a Ranger and submitted it for a price to local dealers. I was not too happy with the trade-in that two local Ford dealers offered. There is a third Ford dealer that I did not contact due to their non-competitive bid for my trade back in '03 when I bought the GT. Since the Ford dealers were not willing to trade at what I considered a fair exchange, I went to the local Nissan dealer and tried a Frontier. Bottom line is that it was much more truck for very little more money and the dealer offered me $2300 more for the Gt than the best a Ford dealer could do. The Frontier has a 265 hp 4.0 V-6 and is very well optioned. It was much quicker than the Ranger and seemed to be sturdier. I think Ford has to try as soon as financially possible to upgrade several of it's vehicles and encourage the dealers to become competitive. Ford makes some fine vehicles, but in the category I was shopping, they are just not quite there yet.
  19. Man, those are beautiful. Ford should see these. Hope there is someone from Ford reading these, you never know from where your help will come. Keep up the good work.
  20. A very good look, in my opinion. Looks tough and sturdy as it should. I think it is a definite improvement over the previous truck. It should do well if the overall future economy supports large pickup sales in general. Looks better than the competition to me.
  21. I agree that the dealership's sales people can kill a sale. I recently witnessed a friend of mine buy a Nissan due to the local Ford dealer's attitude. I was with the friend, he was interested in a new Mustang. While he was negotiating, I was looking at the other Mustangs. I own a Mustang GT and am very pleased with it. My friend called me over to hear the trade-in proposal. I mentioned to him that I thought they could do better and reminded him that I had saved $2300.00 by going to another Ford dealer when I bought my GT. The sales manager basically exploded. He said that my friend could buy somewhere else, but that meant no service at their dealership. We reminded him that this was a FORD dealership and that they were supposed to offer service to any Ford, regardless of where purchased. He replied that, while that was true, any Ford brought in that was not purchased there, was put to the back of the service line and that he thought my friend should shop elsewhere. Long story short, my buddy went up the street and purchased an new Nissan and received a very good deal. He saved about $2000.00. He would have loved to had a new GT, but this dealer's attitude stopped the deal dead in it's tracks. Later, my friend spoke with a third party that used to work in the dealership. He confirmed that they do not service Fords sold by other dealerships in a timely manner. They put them off, put them to the back of the line, etc. It has gotten so bad with this dealership that the local Licoln, Mercury dealership has a huge sign in front of their store saying "We service all Fords, as well as L/M". And, they do not put them to the back of the line! This is ridiculous as we live in a tri-state area with six Ford dealerships within easy driving range. I will drive a little distance anytime to save a couple thousand dollars.
