  1. Do you think the dancers are going to be sympathetic to the cause?
  2. Rumors and speculation is about all we have here at this time. They would likely violate your set standards for a reply, though.
  3. Although the idea is to transfer people back to Ford plants if it comes down to someone being in GEN and an ACH facility needing people you might just see people going to ACH from a Ford plant that is closing. Saline ACH is getting salary people from Rawsonville after shutdown. (Yes, I know they are not UAW.) Later this year we will be picking up UAW people from Utica who will be following their work when their lines come here. A garage mechanic from Sheldon Rd. ACH tranferred here a few months ago. Given the times we are in I just don't see it as being unrealistic that someone from Maumee could find themselves in Saline.
  4. I have no knowledge as to what will happen in your case. A freind who took the educational buyout moved into a job at a university where he can now take classes for free. He was able to convert the educational buyout to the $140K. He had not started taking classes when it was converted. $140k, a good paying job, benefits, free schooling, talk about taking it all.
  5. The combination of trades will leave us with electricians and what ever the rest of you want to call yourselves.
  6. Foreign nurses are allowed into the U.S. to help cover for the shortage of nurses under one of the five guest worker programs this country has inplace.
  7. He started out with a watch on his left arm.
  8. When do we ever vote on anything and know all the facts before hand? They give us highlights. Contract books aren't handed out until six months after the contract is ratified, but atleast we eventually get them. Now, a year and a half after they got the COA through, we still are not allowed to see it. Oversight by the membership is not allowed. That is Pete Graham's fault. If he isn't giving anything away he shouldn't mind the oversight. As far as the COA goes, it does not give them the right to open the contract anytime they want and take away anything they want. What part of agreement don't you understand. What you described is the abandonment of the contract and that hasn't happened. And how do we know if it actually passed? Did the concessions we voted on last year actually pass? As the results came in here at BON it didn't even look close. Yet they passed with 51%. IMHO that's bull shit.
  9. Regarding the COA at KTP, does anyone know what you voted on? Here at Saline we voted for it well over a year ago and no one can see it. Whenever the company wants something Pete Graham gives it to them then blames it on the COA which is not available for viewing.
  10. Maybe they can find a job on the line to do until they actually have union business to attend to.
  11. Last week Al Veers was in the plant for a "skip level" meeting and mentioned Johnson Controls and Faurecia. Then last Saturday and Sunday (March 24 & 25) a transision team made up of Ford and ACH staff went through the plant. Make of this what you will. My guess is there will be an announcement soon about our plant being sold. As far as your son making $6 more per hour...
  12. 1) How is someone to know if they like what is written before they read it? 2) It looks like you replied to your own post. Are you talking to yourself? :shades:
  13. Maybe he simply ran over a nail in the road on his way to work.
  14. $10.80/Hr. makes me want to say "Would you like a hot apple pie with that meal?"
  15. XM and Sirius are beginning to use repeaters in some metropolitan areas to retransmit their signal so that people working in buildings can recieve the programming. I do not know if they have started this in the Detroit area yet.
  16. Can anyone back-up the claim that the vandals were caught or is this all just hear-say?
  17. I would guess that after next September the Edison holdouts will be told transfer or quit.
  18. I understand that it is unpleasent to have someone come in with more seniority since it has happened to me. But those people need a job and have to transfer somewhere. If the shoe was on the other foot they would be singing another tune.
  19. How did we go from over $31/hr. the Free Press stated in an article last month to $27/hr. now?
