  1. Mazda would love to add capacity at Flat Rock, but Ford won't work with them. Mazda has been rumored to be pulling out of Flat Rock for the past few years.
  2. The international came in because Sommerville can't get the agreement sold on his own. They know that so they sent in the big shooters to try to intimidate the membership. FactoryRat, don't fool yourself. This shit would have happened if Deboodt was here. The international controls everything. The only thing that can change what the international does is a loud aggressive membership. You have to tell them what you want instead of letting them tell you what's good for you.
  3. Want a young guy with brains and fire in his belly? Try Chuck Browning, Bob King's AA.
  4. Good post. It originated at AAI UAW Local 3000.
  5. Like I said on another thread the best qualified people at AAI don't run any more, probly because the membership keeps electing dumbasses and there to smart to get involved in that.
  6. ReDemp, maybe "good people" wasn't the right way to put it. Sure some AAI people ran. Some won, like Maynard and Munafo and Spears and Schroeder. Some on this board think there might be better and brighter people out there that don't run but need to.
  7. I went to CNN Money and Global Insight and found no new mention of Ford plant closings. Do you have a link?
  8. ReDemption - Gotta love V. Maybe that's what this country needs. I did not say that those that ran were, in your words, no good, but I think we all know people in that plant that are dedicated and smart and would do a great job. They just don't get involved in politics.
  9. They can't be serious. That offer is as weak as Kool-Aid.
  10. Ford hasn't demonstrated that they're serious about getting rid of seniority employees. Neither has GM and Chrysler. The buyouts they offered were decent for low senior people or those at or near retirement, but Ford's problem is that they have a huge group of people with 20 years and less than 50 years old. That group still needs health insurance and can't quite get to pre-retirement. If they are serious they will give enough cash, say $140k, and extend the pre-retirement to anyone with 20 years at whatever age.
  11. The good people at AAI stopped running for union jobs. Maybe people should think about why that is.
  12. Yup, did away with it years ago.
  13. Now that the results are out what do you think?
  14. You might have the odd supervisor get intimidated by a district rep, but upper management could care less. As far as the computer, I heard it wasn't his to "move". Doesn't he already have a computer in his office? Like I said before, if you're stupid they'll come after you.
  15. I hear John Snyder is running for President. Larry Stewart for Chairman. Some guy from Wixom also talking about chairman. Any other rumors?
