  1. Would you buy a 15 year old brand new truck??
  2. If by good you mean that it should last you a very very long time then I agree. However, the mileage that it gets is similiar to the 4.0 and the hp is similiar to the 2.3.....
  3. Im still surprised that it runs on e85. That 3.0 was such a waste of space in every regard. I think todays 2.5L 4 has roughly the same power output as the 3.0 but maintains high 20's for mileage.
  4. That fuel mileage better be quite a bit higher than that. The current 4 banger that I have uses the 2.5l with a 5 speed from 2001. Stock tires on the vehicle I would get high 20's all day long and my average over the course of many miles was 27.x mpg's with a city/highway mix. However, the one good thing about the old truck....well one of many good things...is that the reg cab weighed very little when compared to many other vehicles.
  5. The 3.0 really does suck large amounts of ass. The 2.3 or 2.5 are a little less powerful but return nearly mpg's whereas the 3.0 returns something like low 20's. I didnt think that the model year 2000's had an e85 option but you would certainly see your mileage go down even further. If you still do decide to go with it I would look at the front ball joints. Mine has 14x,xxx miles on it now and still runs like a top...minus replacing the ball joints around 125,000. If you are interested in the v6 i would opt for the 4.0 though. Too bad you cant get a 4x4 with the 4 banger. Somebody correct me if im wrong but the 3.0's did use a timing chain.
  6. I think if people took some time and lost some weight then the Ranger wouldnt seem so small....just a thought
  7. I dont know why an engine that brings it on par with the rest of the competition has to be reserved for a limited edition sport model when everybody else offers a power level at that level in a basic model.
  8. Its too bad it wont show up with 265hp in the form of a 3.5L
  9. Anybody hear whether or not the new fusion will be revealed at the detroit autoshow???
  10. While I dont want to say that what you said is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard it by far wins the weekly award. Along those lines maybe we should start over with sling shots and midget drawn carts...Simple traction control is not what I would call a "serious traction aid."
  11. We took an 07 vic vs an 07 charger with a hemi....started from a standstill, rolling and everything in between...the vic is no competition what so ever for the charger in any performance oriented catagory. Back to back driving makes one realize just how poor the suspension feels on the vic. 100+ makes me feel like I hope nothing falls off the vic. One thing I did not notice is whether or not the chargers come with any sort of stability control. First real crappy day here in MI and made me realize the vics have no sort of traction control at all.
  12. The department I work for just got their first of a few chargers. They are exceptional police cars as long as the cop isnt too fat as the space between the door and the center console/seatbelt buckle seems to shirnk when a duty belt is on. Visibility is another area that the crown vic has on it. Handling, acceleration, and seat comfort were all far beyond what the crown vic can offer. The weak link for the charger seems to be the brakes from what i have been hearing but I assume thats because a lot of the guys are going a little faster than usual to try out the car and because it is easier to do so. Cost wise vehicle guru at the department said they were about $1000 more than a crown vic. Seems like somebody mentioned rear seat room. Believe it or now the rear seat room in the charger is actually better than in the crown vic. Its the getting in/out that isnt quite as easy...I can live with that.
  13. Gotta say I am ready for a plug in hybrid right about now
  14. If they did use the Sport Trac as a starting point for the next gen Ranger I wonder if but hope they would retain the use of the IRS system.
  15. Those numbers arnt too surprising when you consider that the colorado was a thai import and the dakota has been neglected for years. The Taco which was redesigned a few years back...sales gain. Redesign the truck...and not import a thai version and things should take off.
  16. Somebody on here said that a new Ranger would be coming 09-10.....maybe just possibly the time has come.
  17. Can we also ask for a diesel to go along with the new truck...please
  18. I sure wouldnt buy an F150 if I were going to move up market. Theyre too big plain and simple. Even my father who owned a 95 F150 thinks the new models are just too big and "fancy". Something is needed there is no doubt about that.
  19. In michigan you have 7 days unlimited miles to return a car...I believe... with no penalties.
  20. You should have returned the truck for a refund as soon as you found the problem. I do not know why people do not use the law for their cause. Not saying that Ford isnt at fault for not doing a proper paint job but this didnt have to be your problem if you would have acted sooner.
  21. Went to the NAIAS over the weekend and noticed that there were two escapes (08 models) and one had disc brakes in the rear while the other had drums. Anybody else notice this at the show?
  22. Just have the dealer reflash the computer for the right diameter tire and solve that problem.
  23. But you just come off as sounding like a big asshole who is crying about nothing. If anything I think people see right through you and you lose your credibility. If your mission was really to harm Ford the best thing you could do, aside from hit yourself really really hard in the nuts, would be to ride a bike...or get your fat ass walking eh?
