  1. Very Nice, this can aslo we sold as a new Mark IV Coupe. The back looks like a Bentley Continental Coupe. Sweet. http://images.myride.com/images/vehicle/20...5_(768x576).jpg
  2. 5 new engines, plus the 3.5 EcoBoost and rumored 2.5 EcoBoost in the base F-150.
  3. Plus heavier than most, the Shelby GT500 should be a two seater, who really can sit back there anyways.
  4. At 1:40 Pm EST. Ford: $1.77, Volume 17,916,353 GM: $1.46, Volume 18,872,903 Very high volume for GM, it may be an indication shareholders are getting out before it hits 0. I hope not, Ford needs them around along with Chrysler.
  5. Since there is no replacement, I hope the re-skin them, add new engines (5.0 and 3.5 TT) and they can last another 5 years or so. Even a 3 valve 4.6 would be just fine. They should not surrender this market to GM or Chrysler. For me my 98 Grand Marquis is one of my favorite cars I ever owned. I currently have an 08 Taurus/Five Hundred, it's bigger in the back that the GM, but the GM gave a better highway ride for me. It was quieter and smoother. I think those cars are pretty much bullet proof. I had mine for 6 years and also had a 96 Crown Vic for 2 years, but it was not as nice as the GM. I should of went for the hat trick and got a Town Car. Oh well maybe I will get a nice used one someday.
  6. With 365 HP and AWD, the SHO should be a sub 5 second car, but I doubt it. My guess is low 5 and mid 13 quarter mile. Look at the Shelby GT500 (my favorite car), Ford has the honor of having the slowest 500HP car on the road. 0-60 in 4.3 sec, 12.4 @ 117 or so. Even some 400Hp cars would put the Shelby to shame. The Shelby should easily be a 3 second range to 60 and 11 seconds range quarter mile car. So I doubt they will make the SHO even as fast a 210 Mustang GT. (4.9 and 13.5).
  7. Ford should keep Volvo, I think since the acquisition of Volvo, Ford has become known for safety. Now Ford has the safest cars and trucks on the road. I think it's because of Volvo. Volvo = Safety (to the common person). FMC should be: Ford Mercury (selling European versions of Ford's) Lincoln Volvo
  8. Canadian Figures, GM has been knocked out of the # 1 spot for the first time since 1949. Surprisingly it's not by Ford, but by dying Chrysler. Chrysler 12,015 Ford 11,869 GM's 11,193 http://www.financialpost.com/scripts/story.html?id=1349295
  9. At 1:15 Eastern time: Ford $1.71 GM $1.86
  10. Too many MK name, it gets too confusing, ever for people who are into cars. So imagine the average consumer. "You have a MK what?" But a great line up, good job. Without a RWD and a V8, Lincoln will always be second class to MB and BMW.
  11. So what chassis was the Interceptor Concept build on, I thought it was stretched Mustang platform. So why is it so hard to get this into production. It would share the majority of the chassis and drive train with the Mustang. Problem solved new CV cop car, new TC, new GM. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&...=1&ct=title
  12. Did anyone ever see this? http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Ford-D3-platform
  13. Here is the silliest story of the year, Merging GM and Toyota. See link. http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2008/12/08/288813.html
  14. Sine Ford has enough cash to survive into 2010. When the GM and Chrysler stock are in the pennies, make a bid and take over both of them. Eliminate most of the GM brands and only keep, Chevy and Cadillac. Sell the rest of the names to the Chinese. Chrysler, keep Dodge and Jeep. But retain the Chrysler name for future use. The would all operate under the Ford banner. It would be a merger of sorts, but Ford has control. Of course this would be impossible under UAW/CAW contracts. Yes I know it will never happen. But desperate times call for desperate measures. So I thought for today lets stir the pot a little.
  15. Update the current Panther with the 3.5 EB or 4.6 .3 valve or 5.0 and a 6 speed and it will last another 10 years. It's still the most dependable cop car out there, hands down. AWD is great for the snow belt, but down south it would be useless, as it just adds weight and reduces your fuel economy. I thought a few years back, if they added a 6" stretch to the DEW (Lincoln LS) platform it would of been a good replacement for the panther. My two cent.
  16. I hope they will put the 5.0 in the Mustang for 2010. I don't know why Ford never puts a new engine with the redesign a car, they always uses carry over power plants, and the press and public don't give these cars any attention. The Camaro and Challenger will both have more powerful V6's and V8's. The 2008 MKS should of debuted with the 3.5 EB, or even the 3.57DI. The 2008 Escape/Mariner should of should of debuted with the 2.5 EB, or even the 3.5. The 2009 F-150 should of debuted with the 5.0 or 6.2 The 2009 Navigator/Expedition should have the 5.0 or 6.2 I hope the 2010 Mustang will have the 3.7, 2.5 EB, 3.5 EB or 5.0. I hope the 2010 Taurus will have 2.5 EB, 3.5 and 3.5 EB. The Five Hundred could of been the car to save Ford if it was better executed, should of had the 3.5 and a V8, it was the right time for a V8, as Chevy and Chrysler both had V8's available. And a little more aggressive styling. It's pretty sad when Hyundai can offer a 375 HP 4.6 DOHC and mighty Ford can ever come close to that. There is no reason why they can put DOHC heads and DI the 4.6 to make similar HP. The saddest has to be the 5.4, this motor is so capable (Australia 405 HP?) and we have to settle for 300 HP (4 valve 1999 -2002) (3 valve 2003-2009) for 11 consecutive years with no HP increase.
  17. I have a question to the experts on this form. Why to they rate the fuel mileage in Imperial Gallons but the onboard computer only gives you US Gallons, isn't this false advertising to the consumer? I traded my Grand Marquis in to get a 2008 Ford Taurus, as I really thought I would get 40 MPG on the highway and 24 in the city. I live in Canada and the brochure has the fuel rating as: 7.0 Liters/per 100/Km/ Highway or 40 MPG 11.6 Liters/per 100/Km/ City or 24 MPG Fuel Tank is 78 Liters (20 US Gallons) One day I was measuring the fuel used and the onboard computer reads 7.0 Liters/per 100/Km to equal 33 MPG and 12 Liters/per 100/Km/ to equal 19/20 MPG. I switched between the Metric and Imperial settings to get this. 7.0/Liters/per 100/Km/ = 40.354 Imperial Gallons 33.602 US Gallons 11.6/Liters/per 100/Km/ = 24.352 Imperial Gallons 20.277 US Gallons 78 L = 20.28 US Gallons (the US site has it at 20 Gallons) 78 L = 17.1576 Imperial Gallons Any thoughts on this, thank you. Actually the best reading I got was at 100/KPH/60 MPH with the cruise control it reads 6.0 Liters/per 100/Km/or 34/35 MPG. With only me in the car and no A/C running.
  18. What ever happed to the Lincoln LS 3.9 V8, can't this fit in the MKS and Taurus? My sister just bought a 2005 Lincoln LS and it's got this motor, it's pretty smooth and powerful. This would of been great in the MKS and Taurus or ever better, EccoBosst it to about 450 HP, Sweet. With the current situation, Ford should be using smaller engines. 2.5, should be 2.0 3.5 should be 2.9 3.0, should be back to the 2.5 V6 and use the 3.9 V8 instead of the 4.6, and the biggest motor should be the 5.0. All of these should be EB as well. Also have 2.0 1-4, 3.0 V6, and 4.5 V8 Diesels.
  19. I have a 2008 Taurus, I had a squeaky front end, so two weeks ago I too it to the dealer and they changed the end links and apply some heavy duty lube. I'll see long this will hold up. I read some people had to have the struts replace due to this squeaking problem. There is a TSB, but no recall yet.
  20. Thank you richardmayo and akirby, problem solved, it was the plug, it got a stereo (two ring) plug and it works. On a side not, I was getting a squeaking noise in the front when I go over curbs and it took it to the dealer and the apply some heavy duty grease to the suspension and changed the end links. Just an FYI, it anyone else experiences this annoying problem and your car still has warranty. Thanks again.
  21. I can't see a GMChrysler company working, too many products will be competing with each other. GM already has this problem as it has too many divisions. If the deal happens, Pontiac, Saturn, GMC, Buick and Hummer will be gone. A GMChrysler line up will be, Cadillac, Chrysler, Chevrolet, Jeep and Dodge. So will Ford be lift out in the cold? GM has the Volt and Chrysler has the ZEO (or something like that), both electric cars. Ford may be forced to merge with someone, if anyone, I hope its VW. A FordVW would be good for both companies. A FordVW line-up, Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Audi, Volvo, Ford, VW, Mazda and Skoda. The rest of their companies will be dead. FordVW will become the largest automobile company in the word by volume. 1) FordVW 2) GMChrysler 3) Toyota (boo hoo, it breaks my heart) Just my two cents.
  22. I tried to use the AUX jack in the centre console in my 2008 Taurus SEL, but it only plays on one side speakers, the left side. I used an I-Pod and a portable DVD player and it's the same. How can I get it to play in stereo (all speakers) instead of one side (mono). I read the manual and follow the steps for using the AUX and still the same. FYI, it has the 6 disc/MPS in dash satellite radio stereo. Thank you in advance.
  23. I went to my local Ford dealer here in Canada and asked the same question. I have a 2008 SEL. He's says, you have to pull out the trim to see if it's already wired first. The clock is $88 and the trim piece with the hole for the clock is $141, these figures are in Canadian dollars. Of course you can probably cut the hole yourself, and save $141. If you look and it can be installed, please let me know, as I want to do this as well.
  24. Does anyone know if the 6 disc in dash CD/MP3 player in a 2008 Taurus SEL is the same one used in the Limited version. The SEL only has 4 speakers, one in each door. The Limited as two more at the rear deck and a subwoofer. Just want to know if the stereo is already wired and amplified if I can add two 6x9 in the read deck and if a subwoofer can be added as well. Thank you in advance, new DS owner and loving it. Previously a panther lover.

    New Taurus

Thanks very much to all who had responded. I picked up my 2008 Taurus SEL last evening. I got the FWD one with a convenience package. It's grey in colour. I hope I will like this car as much as I liked my Grand Marquis. I know for sure the mileage will be better, I was on the highway the computer is showing at 120 KPH (75 MPH), it's using 7 litres per/100 KM. I don't know what's that in MPG, I think like close to 40 MPG?, and in the city, 10 litres per/100/KM, like 26? MPG. The ride is not as smooth as a Marquis or as solid, but the Marquis must weight like well over 500 lbs more I would think. I don't know if this is just me or if others have this same problem?, the footwell seems kind of small, as is narrow. I'm 6' 4 ", so maybe is just me. The trunk is huge. Lots of interior room. I have the in dash 6 disc CD/MP3 player. Does anyone know if this has a built in amp, as the speakers start to crackle at less than 1/2 of the volume. If anyone has done anything to their 2008, please share, as I would like to improve on mine as well. Overall I like it. Again thanks to all who has responded, I guess I may have to change my login from 98GMLS (1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, LS) to 2008TSEL?
