  1. Cutting the trades hourly wage isn't working. For instance electricians were offered $15.00 an hour and NOT ONE person applied at the Sandusky Delphi plant.
  2. I know Brook Park was looking for people to transfer to Lima. My neighbor drove it and said they would have to move. It took him 2 hours to get there. He decided not to go.
  3. Sources: UAW members ratify Delphi contract http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...436/1148/AUTO01
  4. The GEN program causes a lot of badmouthing towards auto workers. I have a neighbor who is a 13 year employee and doesn't hardly ever work. He is off constantly. New house, 3 new vehicles, a pool. You name it he has it. Comments made include "Must be nice to get paid not to work" etc. They should have a guarantee call back system, but this getting paid to not work isn't helping matters.
  5. I was talking about the Sandusky DELPHI plant NOT ACH Sandusky plant.
  6. I wasn't implying that the Sandusky Plant was negotiating their own wages, I was confirming the article that was posted. It's a national deal not individual plants.
  7. A family member works there. They said the meeting is on Mon. and trades are going to take a 1/3 pay cut. The pipe fitters plan on leaving to get work elsewhere.
  8. Yep, Union meeting set for Monday the 25th at Sandusky's plant. The trades are going to take a 1/3 pay cut, because people are complaining they are making too much money Pipe fitters are leaving because of it.
  9. $5.00 an hour cut is not really that bad considering what Delphi wants to do. I had heard $10.00 an hour pay cut for Ford. IF some people had there financial situation in better order a cut of $5.00 shouldn't hurt too bad. Now don't get me wrong, I hate to see any pay cut!! But, if you still have your job and benefits then be thankful.
  10. Exactly! This "BIG GAP" was not a big deal 7 years ago. Ford was in the position to be the #1 automaker! American cars were selling, why aren't they selling now? They need to learn to keep up.
  11. A comment in another post got me thinking. How many vehicles do you have from the company who puts a roof over your head, food on the table etc. It also keeps the company going! Many employees of Ford have 2 or more vehicles with the possibility of lower wages comes the fact they won't be able to afford 2 let alone maybe 1!!! We have 3, all bought by my dad who was a 30 year employee, finished March 2007. 1997 F 250 2003 Windstar 2007 Five Hundred
  12. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../706140409/1148 To me, the wages mentioned in this article will most likely be the new wages for all the American Auto Workers. For a family with 3 kids that's the poverty level.
  13. I thought wages were more like $60.00 an hour when you include benefits and everything? That's what was reported last year when the cuts were being announced.
  14. Here is their website: http://www.meridianautosystems.com/index.php They filed for Chapter 11 in 2005. I did a Yahoo search on them.
  15. They meant the deal, not closing the plant. BUT it's only going to happen if the UAW agrees to the new owners demands, if not than there is no deal. That's the way I understand the article anyways. I wonder what the people make working for the perspective buyer now? That would be good to know for negotiation purposes.
  16. No commuting. I work from home. It's just that jobs are on an as needed basis.
  17. The days of $25.00 to $30.00 an hour jobs are quickly disappearing. When I was in college in 2000-2004 one of my Professors told us that if we wanted to even think about living like our parents are, we'd have to work 3 full time jobs. Impossible I know. I'm working 3 part-time jobs right now and can't even clear $10,000 for a year. My hours vary so that makes a difference, but still it's frustrating.
  18. The trades are screwed. Dad had 30 years in nowhere to go. 13 as a millwright, 17 on the line.
  19. Plant one will idle in two weeks for a year and Casting Plant closing in 2009. Just announced on Ch. 5's website.
  20. Ch. 5 only said Plant 1 may be idled for a year. They are announcing it Monday. Nothing was said about the other two. Not sure where people are getting their info. from? TV wise that is. Ch. 3's website says the same thing.
  21. What is the source? I had heard that Toyota is full of recalls, they just don't get the press coverage which is a bunch of crap!
  22. They put food on the table and a roof over my head...that's PLENTY to me to be loyal to them.
