  1. Last year of the Bronco was 1996, or are you referring to the first gen?
  2. Well lets see, the last time was the Scrambler and that was 30 years ago. The current concept looks like this. Also I think intrepidatious makes a good point. If reviving a concept didn't work than we would never have the S197 (2005 - 2014) Mustang. That worked pretty well I think. Additionally I should point out that my intention was not to talk about the Wrangler truck specifically but instead to point out that here is yet another company that is going to get into the midsize truck market. A body on frame truck at that. A point that I think has relevance on this thread.
  3. Kia and Hyundai offer that 100K warranty and you can bet that draws in a lot of people.
  4. We are talking about the chassis, not the actual truck body. RCSB with a Bronco body on it. Also I know some people who buy regular cab trucks actually but in truth most of the regular cab stuff ends up as work trucks.
  5. Just to add food for thought here. It looks like Jeep is going to put a pickup body on the Wrangler chassis. It's something that Wrangler owners, including myself, have been clamoring over for years now. http://www.leftlanenews.com/jeep-wrangler-pickup-to-be-built-in-toledo-cherokee-heading-out-89549.html
  6. The police Taurus is clearly not the preferred vehicle. I can't speak for everywhere but I do know that here the city shop does not like the Taurus at all. It's difficult to work on and on the Officer side of the issue they don't like how cramped it is. The city just bought a large number of the Explorer package.
  7. I agree and I liked it a lot more when we had more activity.
  8. Like you I would prefer to see the vehicle based on the T6 chassis. I think that makes the most sense from a broad appeal standpoint. A full size 2 door Bronco would be a strictly niche vehicle but it would be more true to the historical roots of the full size Bronco. Then again there was the Bronco II but in looking back between the Bronco and the Bronco II which one has the better customer appeal and history. Bronco II was noted for its unreliability. I just think a full size 2 door modern Bronco would be cool and I wouldn't speculate about whether or not there would be enough customer demand for such a configuration. But that is something that has to be considered even if its just an add on at the F150 line. There's really no way of knowing how well a modern full size Bronco would sell. It is clearly and iconic vehicle going back over the years but is there enough draw to bring buyers into the showroom? It's a toss up. Now putting the Bronco on the T6 chassis in this modern era makes a lot of sense to me. It would have a broad appeal. You could make 2 and 4 door configurations as well as pickup truck configurations. But there are always pros and cons. It might be a smash hit but it might not. It would definitely affect CAFE but if the vehicle in question was a big enough hit Ford could probably drop something else to make up for the CAFE standards.
  9. I like this idea too. I like it a lot in fact. But it requires using the T6 Ranger platform.
  10. I'm still not sure that adding the Bronco in the size and configuration that is being discussed makes good business since. Ford already has the Escape, Edge and Explorer. Would adding a Bronco that would essentially be more like the current Escape than not make good business since? Personally I would rather see a two door full size Bronco than a small unibody Bronco and by that I mean put a Bronco body on an F150 regular cab chassis. I'm no expert on tooling at the F150 factory but it seems to me that a Bronco is going to be a niche vehicle regardless not unlike the Mustang. If it's going to be a niche vehicle why not build it at the F150 facility where they clearly have enough product demand that cranking out a couple thousand Bronco's here and there won't matter? If they want to platform share it with a potential Ranger to garner enough sales to justify keeping MAP open than we have to ask ourselves "Will there be enough demand for yet another unibody SUV in the lineup?"
  11. I'm going to chime in here and say that I have no problem with any of what has been said so far furthermore i'm going to give example of why. When I posted on the Bronco / Ranger thread about the majority of SUV buyers being women and the majority of truck buyers being men I was at first called the angry guy from Arkansas and then after that told that I was being sarcastic and thus I should expect sarcasm in return. There was absolutely nothing sarcastic in my post. I was just stating my point of view. It was not intended to be sarcastic nor was it directed at any particular person on this forum. It was just a point of view, plain and simple and yet I was ridiculed for it. That is exactly the sort of thing that gets the arguments started around here as it would on just about any forum. It happens a lot around here. Personally I would love to just sit around and discuss Ford and other cars in general. Everyone give their point of view and that be it. I really don't care if some of you guys think a new pickup truck should be on a uni-body chassis. I think its a bad idea but so what, that's just what I think. If you think it's a good idea than that is what you think. We can all say what we think and leave it at that. The problems start when someone says what they think and a certain core group around here takes offense to it and starts with the insults. There's no need for it. Just say what you think about the idea or the product and move on. So I agree with that idea and I think that's how we should proceed. Just my two cents. Oh and I just wanted to add that yes it is a thankless job being a moderator.
  12. I'm not raising any stakes Richard, I'm just telling you what I think man. What I think is that there is a core group of guys on this forum that do not tolerate anyone who has anything remotely critical to say of Ford. So regardless of the fact that I obviously like Ford enough to buy four brand new ones and like Ford enough that I would seriously consider a T6 Ranger and had nothing but nice things to say about the new F150 none of that seems to matter if I have the least unflattering thing to say about this company. Then suddenly I get called "angry" or "anti-Ford". So don't complain to me about being insulted because brother you got a core group around here that do nothing but.
  13. Ask your buddy fordman. I was perfectly content to sit this out until he decided he needed to include me in his rant. I have nothing to do with Biker posting these old threads. I see where he is coming from but it's none of my business frankly and I didn't appreciate being dragged into it by one of the two cent lackey crowd.
  14. Woe dude, you just need to cool out and check into hotel reality. For starters I don't have and haven't had any "questions" of anyone here and I certainly had nothing to do with this thread so how about you just leave me out of your little rant. Secondly as far as I can tell Richard never put a single post on this thread so I have no idea how you come to the conclusion that he is somehow trying to make Richard look bad. Finally if you want to complain about someone taking their ball and going home that would be the guy who shuts threads down when he gets mad because he can't refute the facts that were presented. Now I'm not sure why Biker pulled up this old thread, you would have to ask him. All that I saw him post was that it's an interesting read. It could be that he genuinely means that "it's an interesting read" because from what I saw a lot of what was posted as far as ideas for the Focus have since come to pass.
  15. The "This is why we can't have nice things" Bronco/Ranger/MAP thread LMAO, now that's funny.
  16. Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know that calling me "angry guy from Arkansas" was the same thing as "I think you're wrong". Silly me. For that matter, labeling posters as "mafia" this and "dinosaur" that doesn't exactly sound like respectful disagreement.
  17. The better question is "Why do you feel the need to be offensive to people with whom you do not agree?"
  18. You can clear your throat to your hearts content, every word of what I said was true.
  19. This X 1000. Just because some of us don't tow the party line around here we are declared "anti-Ford" or "angry" or some other term intended to be insulting or demeaning. It never seems to matter how many times we do give praise to Ford for things that we like about the company or products that we like. Instead all that seems to matter is the few times we disagree with Ford and then all the praise is quickly forgotten and we are subjected to petty ridicule.
  20. You dare not disagree with RJ. He can never be wrong and his band of two cent lackeys will be ever so happy to remind you of it. lol The truly funny thing is the numerous times that he has been utterly wrong over the years on a variety of issues and yet he still has an almost cult like following around here. I can't decide if its sad or funny but I must admit that I find myself laughing at them more often than not.
  21. Because I'm not interested in winning a popularity contest or seeing how many people I can get to agree with me by going along with the crowd. If that's your thing, have at it. I'm going to say what I think and I couldn't care less who agrees with it and who doesn't, especially on these automotive forums where going along with the crowd generally involves suspending your grasp of reality. That's the point of a forum as far as I'm concerned. If I just wanted to be party to a bunch of sycophants I'd join a frat or something.
  22. You lost this argument nine posts ago and as usual you just can't let it go. Feel free to keep beating the dead horse but none of what you say has any degree of credibility.
  23. Everyone? lol There's like a handful of you guys that are on that bandwagon while the majority of the posters around here are not. Frankly I couldn't care less what you think. But thanks for partaking in the distortion of reality that is so common here.
