  1. That doesnt prove anything... I have seen them all, and everyone has a different winner. All it was is the ford spun its tires and lost traction, once that happens the chevy can just pull them away. It's kind of like tractor pulling I guess, the idea is not to just hammer the gas but to get going slowly as to not loose traction. I dont trust any of those videos even if the ford wins cause they're all the same.
  2. Man.. that kind of sucks, I'd be mad when you pay nearly 2k for the system and have to order the premium stereo with it making the total close to 3k. Good luck with the upgrade lets hope it works.
  3. Thats true ford recommends a minimum cetane of 45 for the 6.4 (don't know about others) and most pumps are around 40 or less.
  4. You will kill the dpf as in goodbye warranty and your going to have to pay for it and i think its over $1k for a replacement. I don't believe any dealer has the ability to clean the dpf yet. I heard the machines run $10k. So my point was it is an EXPENSIVE risk. All they have to do is check the fuel content (obviously if you dpf is plugged at 10k miles they'd have reason to), just like with b5 anything higher and your warranty goes out the door as far as engine is concerned and 500ppm diesel will contaminate a lot of ulsd. Service for dpf is 120k miles(service manual) and replacement is 250k and lsd contains 33 times more sulfur so.... thats a big drop in service life if continuously used. The dpf is also considered hazardous waste, I imagine its going to cost A LOT to replace/clean. 3500 miles on lsd is about the equivalent amount of sulfur as 120k miles on ulsd.
  5. Hold on a sec while I put on my fire proof asbestos suit.... Why is this thread even still here? All it is, is the same crap back and forth :beatdeadhorse:. Some moderator needs to lock it as this is nothing more than a flame war.
  6. The dealers down here said they had an allocation of 3 cars. They claimed they were a hot item, yet they haven't sold any of them and will probably sell them to other dealers. My dad would buy one except the new price the dealer wants is 30k+ over msrp when he just paid 49k for a new f250. They still haven's sold a shelby yet.... but the price keeps going up.
  7. You will kill the emission systems, not to mention void the warranty in the process. I heard someone mention that a ford rep said that lsd can be used once or twice with no effect. But do you really want to try?
  8. Yeah it could be a threat...*Hint Hint*Ford hurry up with the hurricane! F-150's in all honesty are starting to age, they need a revamp. But the video at one point had a beater 93 or something f-150 like my dads white with a camper. The damn thing lasts forever, but its time to retire, just put an order for a 08 250 fx4 with 6.4 in white 49k otd with no negotiations! Yay for Ken Grody ford fleet manager, gave us our asking price first shot. I have high hopes for it and if the emissions system is flawless and the problems with the 6.0 have been eliminated this will be a home run for ford. I thought this was funny though popular mechanics ran a test of the new trucks the tundra stopped quickest unloaded but the ford beat everyone with a payload?? I thought its weird that braking improved with a load. Overall in their test they thought the engine needed more go to it, and i can't complain with that opinion.
  9. I thought 3/4 ton and up trucks are exempt from epa mileage ratings.
  10. Wow.... they took it off. It was the behind the scenes of the "see saw" commercial for the tundra. It has ford trucks in the background doing the work. It was posted on other ford truck forums. That burger king drive by is awesome btw
  11. http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/minis...undra_tv1.html Maybe you've seen it, but look in the background which trucks are doing all the work? :P Kinda sad when its toted as better than the rest.
  12. Ok so I might be wrong, I'm to lazy to check, but still what would it accomplish if toyota cut their assembly plants here? I know everyone wants Ford to rise again(me included) but do you really want them to cut blue collar jobs? I know they have 4 big plants. Just curious how much steel does the US still manufacture? Last I heard there were only 2 smelting facilities left in the US?
  13. Gee I wish our dealers were like that, you would think if your going to pony up over $50,000 up front for a truck they wouldn't treat you like some kind of idiot especially since I read all the dealer literature(all 79 pages of it and then some) on 2008 superdutys and come equipped with the bs-o-meter. This kind of reminds me of the 2003 mach 1 mustang. My dad wanted to buy one (he had a candy apple red 69 Mach 1 in high school and i hate him because I want one ) the dealers wanted 10k over sticker. The next year a dealer called him trying to sell it again with almost no incentive, they flopped here and dealers didn't budge until around 04-05. No he wants a Shelby (he originally wanted a 69 gt500) but again dealers want 20K plus over msrp and they're not moving, many dealers haven't sold any and since 40k cars will be produced (from what I've heard) in the coming years total he's going to wait until dealers get stuck with them.
  14. Looks like orange peel but I can't tell from a picture real well. If it is it can be color sanded and polished out. If its swirl marks it can be polished out by a detailer. Either way its unacceptable for a $45,000 car with a $20,000+ dealer markup.
  15. "Other changes include new seven hole common rail piezo electric injectors that are safe for use with ULSD fuel and lower noise levels by precisely and variably injecting fuel multiple times during a single combustion stroke." I thought only Ford had piezo injectors?? Looks like someone gave it a fat lip.
  16. Well this topic has certainly been mildly entertaining reading both sides arguing at each other with their heads are stuck up their asses. Seems like both side believe Ford/Toyota can do no wrong... Well obviously if Ford could do no wrong they wouldn't be where they are now. Likewise I believe Toyota will be soon to follow in the Big 3's footsteps, their product to me seems like its been declining in quality. Ford's product in my opinion looks to be getting much better, but I don't know about management. Also... last time I check most Toyota's were assembled in the States, so why would you want them to lose billions and outsource jobs to Mexico like so many others. My family has both ford and toyotas the two oldest being a 1992 tacoma and a 1993 f-150 and both have performed beautifly and still do, and we have been burned with both toyota and ford products.
  17. No one ever said you had to get a diesel with it, and like J-150 they're much cleaner and quieter 07 emission standards requires a massive reduction in particulate emissions among other things. With nearly all light diesels I think that characteristic "diesel chatter" is gone.
  18. And the point of that comment would be???
  19. Is it me or does Ford Australia get all the good fords??? Last time I checked they had some neat looking performance falcons.
  20. I didn't know Ford was responsible for it's dealers not being edjumacated when It comes to selling the cars. The simple solution is find a new dealer.... every brand has crap dealers but not all dealers are bad. Or here's another novel solution do your own research, its the 21st century you can find anything on the internet.
  21. Is that motor making it state side, If so that would be sick. If they made it looked better this thing should be damn near perfect. I'd sell my tacoma and buy it in a heartbeat. I'd like the diesel to have some sound though, I wouldn't want it to sound like gasser.
  22. I have a 2005 Tacoma Prerunner Reg Cab with 4 cyl and 5 speed. The brake issue, I don't have my pedal is firm but not too firm and it stops great but the creaking issue I do have and I gets kind of annoying when going over bumps in the road or speed bumps. My reg cab turns great I think but it has a short wheelbase however, but 44ft is pretty for that class of truck. At the time I bought it I liked the seats better it had slightly better mileage than the ranger and I couldn't find a 5 speed. Of the cars my family owned Fords and toyota's the only one that we have had absolutely zero problems with was my dads 93 f-150. I just don't like the way the ranger looked, also I wish ford would tone down the emblems, I don't need a giant ford oval on the steering wheel, I know it's a ford.
  23. Can someone enlighten me on the Boss motor? The only boss motors I know are the new crate motor and the boss motors from the 69-70 mustang.
