  1. The cougar died after the 1970 model year for me(still not crazy about the snaggle tooth hood though).... But I'm biased cause mines a 69 A new one has to have full seq. tail lights, slightly longer wheel base than mustang for more rear seat room, v-8, 6spd (but could live with 5), rwd, hideaway headlights, and last but not least be absolutely freakin sexy looking. Eliminator package a must...
  2. Only if the make the cougar cool again, like mine :happy feet:
  3. Why does everyone rip on the gt500 calling it the gt447? I mean I see nothing wrong with it, I see over 500hp at the crank, I guess people forget theres about a 15% parasitic loss with a manual tranny to the tires. Also what were they're comparing the 68 to? a modern car? Whats with the need for IRS, a car can handle well with a live axel, there are plenty of road racing cars with live axels. Are people jealous because dealer markup made it so they can't own one?
  4. All it needs is the a new 7.0L (call it 428ci) boss/hurricane engine or whatever they call it, a shaker hood scoop with some chrome cobra jet script, and maybe a hurst style shifter for a more retro feel. almost forgot to throw some 4.11's in it for some off the line motivation. Atleast I think that would make a sick comeback of a 69 mach 1 with the 428 and drag pack. and also maybe restyle the seats to look like the mach 1 high back comfort weave.
  5. I take it thats why I see so many of those things around.
  6. Umm... they kinda need to remove the cab... its REALLY TIGHT, besides its been pretty streamlined and good techs can get it off under an hour makes for much easier repairs. Gas engines in 650s... I really dont think they would sell at all. At that level you really need the torque not to mention the added efficiency of a diesel. You got me on #3, they over did it. Anyone want like a 7, 8, or 9 speed manual tranny? High low range? Gear splitters? Double overdrive for guys with the stick would be nice. Oh and a manual unlock hubs if possible for guys with esof just in case the auto hubs fail.
  7. It's Kenny Browns csr-69 http://www.muscularmustangs.com/2005/news0...ybrowncsr69.php there was another model that was less racy more like a 69 mach 1
  8. I saw some on 08's fleabay (my dad likes them) in the custom pickup form with the 6.7 cummins.
  9. Where do you live? Everyone I've heard from says diesel is way higher then reg. Here its avg low around 3.60 with a high of 3.85 and Dpfs so far have killed mileage most average <12 in 3/4 tons with 3.73's in city and a max of 16 on highway a few however get higher, older superduties got better.
  10. Its the FX4 black leather not the lariat look at the gauge cluster, I think its from a 250/350 cause 450 dont have FX4 option and lariats have all gauges white.
  11. The day when diesels where king in terms of efficiency and price are dying. People are getting less mpg, diesel is WAY higher then premium now, diesel maintenance is more expensive the gassers, and the option for the diesel is pretty damn expensive. It doesnt really pay to own a diesel anymore unless your looking for major low end torque for towing.
  12. Did toyota ever fix the tailgate made of aluminum foil. When I went to the LA autoshow I was tempted to find one and sit on the tailgate with two of my friends. Except I couldnt find one, except for a display cut away model and another with the bed section corded off??
  13. I remember reading about some people experiencing this, but we have not. I drove my dads truck one way from Anaheim Ca, to Dubois Wy, I can't say that I ever experienced the death wobble I went as fast as 85 too and according to the gps my dad hit 93??? Something with assembly? Engineering flaw?
  14. Don't the 08's have a dead pedal...? I need to go look again but I swear I was putting my foot on one. Direct injection flex-fuel v-10 YES! Console shift... eww.... I don't see any need or use. sport mode for tranny... why...? the damn thing weighs 8k+ not exactly something you could autocross manual shift control, yes PLEASE! Front leafs... NO! the trucks turn much better now since the change. Do coil springs wear out btw? I know leafs can?
  15. Be aware that there has been a batch of bad radiators, if you see coolant leaking take it in. Some people at thedieselstop.com have had teh radiators blow out on them when towing. Other than that all is good.
  16. So an alternative solution, albeit and unlikely one, would be to stop having 5' tall soccer moms driving around lifted SD's jacked up so high that I can park my little truck underneath it, all the while hauling < 100lbs of kid in the back seat.... wait I forgot to factor in the 3lb soccer ball and maybe 2lbs worth of water/gatorade... maybe diesel at almost $3.90 a gallon will make them buy a small car? But again unlikely. I've smashed the brakes pretty hard on a couple of occasions in my dads 250(my uncle told me one good thing about driving a 3/4ton and larger is people don't cut you off... what a load of crap) and so has he, we've never noticed harder steering. In fact I consider the steering pretty numb and way to light as is. Hopefully its just an option? Or is it standard equipment? Also don't the new emission diesels actually have throttle plates... meaning the would produce vaccum?
  17. Turning on a playstation doesn't have the same effect to me as turning a key and hearing an engine roar to life.... maybe I'm weird?
  18. Exactly, they also want to make sure the driver knows for sure he/she is driving a ford. Ford is sorta dominating heavy trucks?? No need to flaunt the blue oval?
  19. I think you mean 16, I dont think it's physically possible to have 32 pushrods. It would mean there are 32 lifters and 32 cam lobes in a v-8. I think each pushrod connects to a rocker arm with pushes down a bridge kinda thing. And unless the drastically change the 150, theres no way in hell I would think they could fit the 6.4 being the pig it is at over 1100lbs dry.
  20. Thats probably the case, to be honest I don't think there has ever been an active regeneration that we could really notice. Some other people on the dieselstop forum seem to be getting fairly good mileage with bad dpfs other's not so good. So don't know really, we don't have black smoke if I where to whack the throttle good... so?? But I think we might prolong going to the dealer to fix it. Also I cant imagine a camper making a big difference, I mean the truck is already about as aerodynamic as a refrigerator with wheels, I would think it would be insignificant (I hate the damn camper anyway it's a leer and it has two side latches that when combined with the tailgate step make it a pain in the ass to close). Also when you drain the fuel water separator it should come out in a stream right? ours just drips.
  21. On my dad's 250 cc short bed auto 4x4 we average 17.4 mpg from Anaheim Ca to Dubois Wy. We saw a low of 13.5 mpg on the baker grade to a high of 21mpg somewhere in Wy by Jackson, most in the 18-19mpg range. Most speeds were from 70-85 with a high of 94, and we had stopped for a few days in several cities, which lowered our average. Other info was the cab had the whole family in it (5) and about 800 pounds of luggage, coolers and other junk, plus the truck has a camper shell. Other mileage: towing we get about 9.8 mpg towing 7500-8000 lb boat in stop and go traffic and 13.5mpg on highways. On a side note our tailpipes are sooty but not deep black, sometimes with little white spots, I guess from regen. Truck currently has a little les than 5000 miles total. Mileage taken from computer but verified by hand calc. the comp was generally <.2mpg off hand (hand calc gave us higher mileage usually) except for one time hand calc came 1mpg low. Verdict: Outstanding product with the exception of numb steering and the steering wheel design hurts my wrists after about 6 hours of driving. Brakes work great as my dad can attest when some dumbass cut of off when pulling the boat, and finally gobs of power on demand.
  22. On my dads 250 cc sb 4x4 we've seen a high of 18 mpg highway 13.5 city check by hand (our computer is <.5mpg off and sometimes it hand calc yeilds better milage). Towing 8500 pounds of boat and trailer plus 4 people and gear we get 12 mpg highway and 9 mpg in stop and go city traffic and the truck still is under 1k miles or just rolling over. and for the nit picky people we fill up at the same station facing the same way (its the only station both truck and boat fit and can fill up at the same time in).
  23. That blows I only heard today, I saw driving force and caught a glimpse of the end. The first reaction was WTF, then shock, then had to go check online to find out for sure.
