  1. Those are indeed very impressive numbers. And I think the car looks fantastic all the way around. So how much is this baby going to cost? I would estimate $26,700 nicely loaded. Placing it a notch or so below the Escape. How does that stack up to the competition?
  2. I love this topic... Here's my take: If it were an IRS system, I think the Exhaust would have to be routed below the center of the arms since there is a bit more travel when using IRS. Therefore, if it were an IRS system, the Exhaust would be hanging low in a more prominent fashion similar to the '99,'01 and '03-04 Cobras. To me it looks like there will not be any IRS for a while. No biggie.
  3. The whole thing may not be pretty, but these Ford numbers are impressive. :reading: Especially when you consider that Toyota continued to run 0% financing throughout November if i recall. I believe Ford began the employee pricing in Mid November. Not that it mattered. Cars have been heavily discounted since August. Toyota truck sales are down 36% in November. Ford -25% probably easily beating the rest of the industry... and that is with an aging 4 year old model.
  4. I wish they would release more information on the future of the Plug In Escape. It seems like a great product already with around 100 mpg avg city/hwy. Wonder why that wasn't highly promoted... That powertrain could be used in all sorts of vehicles
  5. Awesome truck. Saw the Raptor at the LA auto show last week. I want a 2WD black one soo bad.... Add a pair of Axis rims, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Borla Exhaust system and you'd have the finest American built truck on the planet. Hello Low Gas Prices!!!
  6. This article bears the same optimistic view that I currently have regarding the fate of Ford Motor Company. I just hope that I'm right...
  7. Agreed, I think even the standard 5.4 would do fine, but I'm sure SVT would not be satisfied with anything less than 400 hp. Just watching the video of the F-150 absorbing those dessert moguls says a lot about the engineering effort. I was a bit envious of Dodges new rear suspension set up. But it probably makes better business sense in a truck to limit it to one model like (hopefully) Ford is doing. Anyone know if Dodge's payload capacity was hurt when they switched to the new Coil Springs setup?
  8. Californian Here... This is the sickest truck ever! Nearly half of all the F-150s in California have some sort of suspension mods done to them. Some do it just for the looks ("posers" as you call them) others actually use their trucks in the dirt (great way to destroy your truck btw). Either way, this truck is targeting those same folks. It would sell like gang busters out here. All the local Ford dealers sell brand new F-150's with Pre-runner/Lift kits preinstalled... so why not from the factory. I'm agreeing with everyone here... Ford's line up is really shaping up. :happy feet:
  9. Looks like we have a winner here.... Gas mileage is near the top of the bunch. I can only imagine how great that six speed drives. I want one! Two things ford builds flawlessly, pony cars & trucks
  10. My uncle's Navi may have been an 08 model. Never did ask him... either way the 08 is rated at 12/18 which would still be quite an improvement over the 05 numbers. I do like the Fusion/Mariner 4 cyl models and have condsidered them. Waiting for the all mighty EcoBoost to save the day. Edit: I meant Milan, not Mariner..... The GXP is ok... If I went that route, I would probably prefer a CTS or used CTS-V. I still think its the best car GM builds.
  11. Well, those new Navi MPG numbers won my Uncle over. He has been leasing Navigators for 10 years now and was thinking of leaving for another brand. He called me and asked me how the new Navi could possibly get that much better mileage than his current one. I explained some of the effort Ford has been putting into improving each vehicle. So he bought a new Navi just last week. He also bought his daughter a new Mariner at the same time. I'm happy to say my family continues to contribute to Ford's bottom line. Your welcome Ford, now please build me a decent 4dr RWD car with good MPGs and a manual trans option... Thanks
  12. My cars were all awesome vehicles. But I'll never forget the day I let go of my last Mustang... sad, sad day. Favorite truck: My 01 Silverado. Finest automatic transmission ever put into a vehicle. Favorite car: My 03 Cobra of course. Put a smile on my face 24/7 Favorite SUV: 92 Explorer 4x4. Saved my a** in the snow every winter. Wish I had the room/money to buy them all back.
  13. If I had a car collection, I definitely would..
  14. This financial crisis will bring on the demise of GM in my opinion. Ford is in much better shape at this point. It's stock was even upgraded yesterday. I think Ford is requesting loans to help GM out more than itself. It somehow feels pitty.. i guess.
  15. 1. Lamborghini Reventon I'd post a pic if I knew how.... 2. Ford GT an extremely close second
  16. Definitely is a big improvement. Especially when you go back and look at an 05-09 GT/GT500. I can tell from the pics that Ford has decided to keep the live axle set up out back. I was really hoping for an Independant rear... or at least the option. But, it does save cost and thats what counts.
  17. It looks really good from the back. I like the slight hunch over the rear wheels. I'm kinda over the squished front ends thanks to the Challenger and Camaro... but overall I likey. Looks like i jumped in too fast.... 2 threads. Haha!
  18. Amazingly, I have not seen one on the road either... The closest I got was someone testing it out on a dealer lot. May not have caught on yet in SoCal I kind of like the American Toaster... especially with the 20in wheel package.
  19. Thought I would throw in my 2 pennies here.... If the NA Fiesta loses any of the great design attributes it shares with its european counterpart, then I would expect low numbers. If it the final product is just as visually stunning as the concept and the euro Fiesta, it will be 1987 all over again when Ford struck gold with the Taurus. There is a little predicament here with the Fiesta Vs. Focus pricing. Will people still buy the Fiesta if it cost more than the Focus?
  20. I would have to agree that GM is sinking pretty fast. They wont be able to mortgage assets in the great fashion that Ford did. And Ford is lucky to have sold JLR & AM already. GM's only choice is a government loan if its ever going to make it to see its beloved Volt roll on to US roads. The big Three got caught with their pants down on this one and they should have seen it coming. Competition from the imports was not nearly as steep and established in the 70's as it is today. I was screaming bloody murder when Ford introduced the Excursion. It wasn't that I was worried about the environment or that I would get crushed by one, but rather that I knew they were headed in the wrong direction. Steering the company directly into its own demise... Unfortunately, the big three are know best for trucks and muscle cars which is where the money is. And their smaller FWD cars have been very inconsistent as far as reliability is concerned. They are much better now but it will take a long time to earn the image. The EcoBoost and Fiesta cant come soon enough!!!
  21. I really like the direction they are going with the design. Looks really good. I wonder if this is a hybrid model.... Looks pretty aerodynamic and low to the ground.
  22. Thats what i like to hear! I'm sure they can become number 1 in quality. It would only save money in the long run. Quality equals less warranty repair costs and higher residual values. And that equals higher sale prices of off lease vehicles which in turn equals: Profit! And a successful car company....
  23. When it comes to building cars, (and by cars I mean small 4cyl cars) the japanese take top honors in reliability and efficiency. They also led the way in option packaging 4cyl power in a car that is loaded with leather, nav, heated seats.... etc. When it comes to building anything else, Ford & GM are on Par with quality and fuel efficiency. Hence, there is little reason to prefer the Japanese equivelant of an SUV except for personal opinion, pure loyalty or aesthitic reasons. Therefore, I would agree with this thread in this one point: I find it a bit unpatriotic to purchase a Toyota Tundra (not that i would ever tell anyone). I understand that people have the right to choose and that is what America is built upon, but I cant help feeling a little queasy when I see a Tundra on the road. Its not better than any one of the big 3's trucks. Its not more efficient, it cant tow any more, its chassis is no where near as strong, it doesn't look any better... so why would anyone buy one?
