  1. I do take care of myself. Like I said, that's why I avoid politics. Just curious, does anyone like you?
  2. You're four people? How do you fit in one chair?
  3. And this is why I avoid politics...yeesh.
  4. Republicans vote based on their morals, not the issues. They think that their morals should be everyone elses morals. Abortion is a perfect example. I have encountered people who will not vote for Obama solely because he is pro choice. Pro choice does not equal pro abortion, but that is how people view it. I know people who have had abortion and to this day it still haunts them, but it was their decision to make, not the government's. I don't think Republicans want to go to war just like I don't think Democrats believe in taxing the crap out of us. Yes, they have different doctrines, but they are still just people. I believe Obama is the better choice of the two, not because he is a better person, but because McCain has shown no promise what-so-ever. He sat on the sidelines for 26 years and claimed to be a maverick. Now, he got the Republican nod. Do you honestly think the Republicans would've given him the nod if he was a so called "maverick"?
  5. Seniority should be based on your time in the union, plain and simple. I think if you transfer to a different plant, you should have a one year freeze on job bids, but after that all of your seniority should count. We are all in the same union and the benefits should not be site specific.
  6. Really? The Democrats have been running Washington? They have the barest minimum of a majority. And how exactly is McCain convincing you he'll stand up to his own party? By voting against in 5% of the time. Please. Trust me, I think our bipartisan system sucks, but we have to live with it unfortunately.
  7. As opposed to an educated moron like you?
  8. "That is why people are so fervent about Obama, because he is not in the same party as Bush, nor has he shown any support for Bush's failed policy." Try using the whole sentence idiot. Typical Republican, twist what people say to make yourself look smarter. The Republican party, which John McCain and George W. Bush belong to, has screwed the country to hell. That is the reason why Obama is so popular, he is not one of them. Hell, just about any Democratic nomination would've stirred the population. Whether you like it or not, they did it to themselves.
  9. So he has been planning this brainwashing for the past 8 years? How can you not see the damage that the Bush administration has done WITH THE SUPPORT OF JOHN MCCAIN? That is why people are so fervent about Obama, because he is not in the same party as Bush, nor has he shown any support for Bush's failed policy. I'm nominating you for "Dumbest Post of the Year".
  10. Actually, it's part of the 1984 contract. Hence the year. It's probably not going to change either. With all the movement goin on, the UAW is going to protect seniority employees regardless of how you feel. It should never have been put in in the first place.
  11. They don't have to pay extra benefits to the guy on time and a half. That's why OT is cheaper. Besides, we're about 3 years from hiring new people anyway.
  12. I meant in the military, not the Air Force...j/k.
  13. My bad, first 5 in he Navy, last 3 in the Army. O-3 in Army, Air Force and the Corps is a Captain. I stand corrected on that, but how many years of service do you have?
  14. Overtime is gone for now because sales are down. When all is said and done, companys prefer to work OT production instead of hiring more people. This will turn around and when it does, Ford will be a smaller, more efficient company that will run OT production to meet customer demand.
  15. Based on what formula? On a straight 40 hour check, it would take about ten years per employee to recoup that. Where the savings come in is overtime. Plus, how many people would turn around and spend it on a car? It may not be ideal for what Ford wants, but I honestly don't think many more people are going to take that buyout, considering they have had two chances already. Especially in Michigan, where the hell are we going to find another job without leaving the state? Hell, you could ride out unemployement and JSP for 3 years and make more than taking a buyout and you maintain your benefits.
  16. You're delisional. Seriously, both sides are saying this will benefit them. It's just posturing. I love it when conservitives start chest thumping. You guys may have the biggest mouth in the room, but a well placed fist will close it. Remember, this election isn't over until November 5th. This is an exciting time to be an American. We are witnessing history on both sides. On the democratic side, we have our first black presidential nominee. On the republican side, they finally realized that there are other politicians besides white men! Regardless of whom you support, just make sure you vote for the right reasons.
  17. Why not? I say 150k buydown to $22 and hour. And free pie!
  18. Tell him to just pull the lever next to Obama's name, that's how. I love how the Republicans are playing on our fears of Islam to steal votes from Obama. If it's acceptable for conservatives to believe he is Muslim, is it OK for us to believe Putin? For the record, I consider myself to be an independent. I don't think the Republicans have had a good candidate since Bush Sr and neither party had a good candidate in the past two elections. I do think McCain is a good candidate, but he is not what this country needs now. Back in 2000, I would've gladly voted for him, but times have changed in the past 8 years and he hasn't. Regardless of who wins, Bush is out and that is good for everyone.
  19. Kwame is doing wonders for black politicians. Anyway, if you're a McCain supporter because you are afraid of black people, here's a suggestion; Go out and beat up a black guy then you'll realize they're not as scary as the media wants us to believe. How's that for logic; Beat up a black guy to end racism. Seriously though, if you don't like Obama because he's black, stay home. There is no place in our society for ignorant pukes like you. Oh wait, there is, it's called a trailer park.
  20. So I should be president because I served in the Navy and the Army? Just because you serve, doesn't mean you're presidential material. I applaud him for his service, but he was a half rate officer who got out because he knew he would never make Flag Rank like his father and grandfather. Anyway, Obama is a millionaire because he made it himself. It was not passed down to him like the Bushs and Kennedys, and he did not marry into it like Kerry and McCain. And yes, I would consider being a two term senator, two term first lady more qualified than a one term governor from the least populous state in the nation. The Repulican are campaigning with fear, the Democrats are campaigning with hope. Personally, as a father, I prefer hope. Most republicans I have spoken with have not given me a reason for voting for McCain, but they have plenty of reasons to not vote for Obama. Try being open minded about it, then come back and give me a valid reason to vote for McCain. He's had 20 plus years to make a difference, yet has done nothing. I'll take intelligence and motivation, Obama, over flag waiving and complacency, McCain.
  21. After watching Obama and Biden speak at the DNC, they are going to eat these two alive during the debates. Regardless of what you think of their politics, they are damn good and public speaking and answering tought questions. This is to any woman out their who supported Clinton, but not Obama; This is nothing but political pandering to the female independents. Please don't vote against Obama out of bitterness, or vote for McCain because he chose a woman. If you think McCain is the right choice, then vote for him. Personally, I think this is a huge step backwards for women in politics, especially if Obama loses. That said, McCain is a dinosaur. Is Obama the right choice? IMO, yes, but only time will tell. The difference between the two is definately experience. There is nothing in McCain's history that suggests he will make a good president, why would he change now at 72? In Obama's short political history, he has shown promise, willingness to stand up to the establishment instead of going with the flow, ala McCain. Obama literally worked his way from the bottom up. McCain is the son and grandson of Naval Admirals who got him into Annapolis. Obama took loans, scholarships and grants, like we have to. McCain graduated 5 from the bottom at annapolis. Obama was the President of the Harvard Law Review. McCain's highest rank in the Navy: Captain, O-3. Not a stellar career. Obama has succeeded at everything he's done. Obama has experience in many fields. McCain is a career politician who married for money after a failed military career. To me the choice is simple.
  22. And that's the point I was trying to make, just without all the words. We hourly workers build what is put in front of us. We are not involved in the minute to minute decision making process. That falls on the shoulders of engineers and line supervisors. Blame the execs all you want, but the entire salaried component has had a hand in the downfall of this company.
  23. Take it from the bottom, the line worker. Engineers don't listen to us and it just keeps going up the chain. You guys don't know what we do, yet you make decisions without any of our input. So yeah, decisions are made by the non-managerial salaried workforce. You decide what to tell your manager. We hourly folk don't make any decisions and are ignored until the last possible minute. Granted, not all salaried people make decisions, but all decisions are made by salaried people.
