  1. Congrats on the new Fusion aneekr! That monochromatic look really makes it stand out. Best of luck and keep us posted. Eric
  2. Thanks for this information! The pricing doesn't appear to be exponentially higher than 2010 even with the new goodies. A decently equipped GT should list for $35k or so.
  3. Good post - just the info I was looking for! Ice, Will you be posting the order guide when it is released? Eric
  4. I don't know what '10 will bring to Ford but of course, I'd hope it would be a positive year overall. I do recall Mullaly saying it would be 2011 before profitability on a yearly basis. If gaining market share is the priority, I don't think they're going to get it from Honda and Toyota drivers - they're loyal to the bone at this point, regardless of whether their product is inferior. I'd continue to exploit the failures of GM and Chrysler if I could. Also, have they played up their Car/Truck of the Year from leading automotive media and the recommended models reported by Consumer Reports? Maybe they have some leverage there amongst the less than hard-core auto people. I found this recent interaction with my father interesting. I would consider my folks to not be brand loyal - their last five vehicles consisted of a Ford, Hyundai, Acura, and 2 Chevrolets. They're looking to replace the Trailblazer my mom has since she doesn't like it after 4 years and they like the 2010 Equinox/Terrain. So, my father decides to go look at one at the Chevy dealerships near him but guess what? The two closest Chevy dealerships no longer exist. Not wanting to drive 30+ minutes to look at it, he is now leaning towards an Escape simply because there are three Ford dealers withing 15-20 minutes from his home. I wonder if this could come into play nationwide for people who are not brand loyal. It is hard for me to understand - I'd drive a few hours if it meant that I'd get the Ford I wanted. I guess most folks aren't like that - proximity is the priority.
  5. I can't think of too many contractors that use the 6.75ft bed by choice. Personally, I'd go for the 8ft bed and live with the fact that it won't be the easiest thing to park or turn.
  6. I update my signature to reflect my mileage. My '07 Fusion will be 3 years old in late Feb. 2010 - should have around 80k or so at that point (picked up with 7 miles). My previous Ford's and their respective mileage when sold are listed below - they were all bought used. Eric
  7. It really depends on your current needs and styling preference. The Flex offers bold styling and a 3rd row and more power if you went for the EB. The Edge is more conservative and seats 5 with more appealing looks IMO. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong. They're both quality vehicles. I'd test drive both of them at least 3 times and since it will be your wife's - you might want to let her have significant input on the decision. My wife wants an Edge (she doesn't like the styling of the Flex) but we have 3 kids under 7 and the seating won't be enough. I'm leaning towards an Expedition even though it will be more than I need short term - long term it will be perfect. It all comes down to needs and personal preference. Best of luck making the right decision for you and post up some pics when you get the new set of wheels. Eric
  8. Congrats on the new truck. That's one sweet looking ride!
  9. Out of curiousty - what kind of warranty does Ford give on the battery pack for the hybrid? What kind of fuel economy are you getting?
  10. Congrats - I'm sure you'll love the car you chose. Like I said earlier, you can't go wrong either way and to be honest, I don't know that you'll miss the 23 HP difference too often. I presume you are getting X-plan pricing? I did receive a $500 coupon when I ordered a brochure online but this was a couple of years ago. You can negotiate a lower price than X-plan but be prepared to haggle for hours. A plan would probably save another $1k off the price - that would be sweet. Post up some pics once the car arrives.
  11. Yeah, I know the tires have lasted much longer than I expected (they are Michelins but I don't know which type - I believe the treadwear rating was only 300). I religiously rotate them and make sure they are properly inflated and driving mostly highway miles has to help make them last. 90k might be a bit optimistic but it is my goal - don't want to drive on steel belts though! Thanks, Eric
  12. You'll probably need to anaylze how much mileage will be put on the car, what the payments will be, etc. I'm sure the SEL will fit your needs best based on what you describe and you won't feel the bumps as compared to the Sport. My wife wants an Edge but with three youngsters, I need an Expedition!
  13. Keep us posted and best of luck. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong. The SEL V6 is really a nice car while the Sport is targeted to a specific demographic. If I was in the market for another one, I'd be torn as well. Post up some pics whenever the new car arrives. Eric
  14. Well, I crossed the 75,000 mile mark on the odometer on my way home from work yesterday - 34 months after I bought my Fusion. Ford has really done a wonderful job with this vehicle (I'm sure the 2010 models are even better). There have been ZERO problems with my car. No recalls either. All I have done is change the oil using OEM oil and filter, changed the air filter twice, and rotate the tires. The original tires and brakes are still on the car, I believe I can get 90k out of the tires and more than 100k on the front pads before replacement. I have averaged slightly more than 28 MPG based on my calculations (85% highway driving), which exceeds the EPA rating. The front end is still very tight and handles very well. My only complaint would be the turning circle, it is way to long. I enjoy the stiff suspension too, makes the car feel more sporty than it is. I'm glad I sprung for the leather seats (a first for me) - I've been using the heat on them more than I thought I would. If my current rate of driving does not change, I should hit 100k around November or December 2010 and I'm looking forward to that milestone. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & Happy New Year to all - most of the folks on this board are very helpful and insightful. Thanks, Eric
  15. Thanks for the info, much appreciated!
  16. Are they still scheduled for a spring 2010 release? I'm probably in dream land thinking my wife would approve. I looked at the order guide last night, a nicely equipped Lariat Crew Cab sounds good to me!
  17. Yeah, I noticed that from another thread. It only lists 3 of 19 pages. I was hoping for a .pdf file to download so I can read the entire thing. I'm sure Ice Capades will post it when he has time. Thanks, Eric
  18. 85 was the last year of the carburated Mustang V8, no? That's correct.
  19. Congrats on passing the 500k mark, very impressive! That sure is a lot of driving in 10 years. How long do you plan on going? A million miles maybe? I'm at 73k in 2 years, 9 months. I'm kind of bored with it though, want something else. What makes you hold on so long?
  20. Looking forward to the 2011 order guide being released - you will post it when available?
  21. I was able to achieve 31.07 MPG on my last tank - about 95% highway. This car has not skipped a beat in over 71k and runs just like the day I bought it. I thought about upgrading to a 2010 but there really is no reason to, it is only about 1/3 of the way through its useful life.
