  1. We should have done this EV thing shortly after the Arab oil embargo in the 70s, about now we'd have 25 K EVs with a 500 mile range
  2. Thats why there called suddenly upside down vehicles (SUV)
  3. Way back on page 1 someone said the range is too short & the battery takes too long to 'fill' to which I say if you throw more money at it (read Tesla) that would help with those issues but isn't 40 grand already too much ? So if you price close to the Leaf ya might be accused of being a copy cat, less than a Leaf just a glorified golf cart so I say lets get some out in the wild then decide if its worth the money
  4. Sometimes rather than pay an electrician to make sure it's done right people try to make what they already have work (just a guess)
  5. I think akirby is spot on - EVs are totally different, sure the Focus EV is almost 4 grand more than a Leaf, that could be the faster charging time on the Focus, the driving dynamics, the dashboard user interface etc... since the entire EV market is small could it be that Ford is getting its sales and service force up to speed while still getting bragging rights & who knows some Focus EV sales may end being a C-Max hybrid (why flood the market with unprofitable EVs) ?
  6. What am I missing here, its $39,995 before state and federal incentives.

    New Fiesta owner

Manual or auto transmission - pics ?
  8. Doesn't claim to be a SUV or have AWD, what am I missing here ?
  9. Thanks, my local dealer has little info about SFE (they are still playing catch-up from what I can tell)
  10. Any SFE Package (Super Fuel Economy) package owners out there, how are the low-rolling-resistance tires, good / same grip as usual ?
  11. Great review ! Without going into details (unless you want) how was resale value of the FFH - how many miles when sold, price of gas at the time, still in good shape, extended warranty, did the dealership want the FFH or was it more cause you were getting something else ?
  12. Edmunds TCO is a good rule of thumb but it only provides a rough average, it doesn't take into account driving conditions, climate, driving style, how well the owner takes care of it & who does the maintenance.
  13. Never driven the Focus but as you must know they are different animals - if you want a more conventional means of transport the Focus @ 22.8 K wins hands down but if tailpipe emissions (not idling when stopped) regenerative braking etc mean anything the Fusion hybrid wins - the hybrid will probably have better resale value so total cost of ownership will be less (5 years @ 15 thousand miles per)
  14. How about flashing lights (on the EV) for the deaf ? (just kidding, I vote for no lights or sounds)

    Howdy from TX

Let your Dad know you're making up for the 6 now !
  16. I was thinking about a Tesla (not for myself) the EV-1 slipped my mind, it should be counted though - heck they may even have a Focus EV & can't say so CR must be up to a half dozen EVs ?
  17. I like it when CR says its "the most well-developed all-electric vehicle we've tried to date." course they don't say how many they've tried
  18. I know E anything is considered bad but 85 % of the corn grown in this country is fed to livestock, what would lower costs is eating less meat.
