  1. Who on this board said these cars should be donated to those less fortunate? Most of these cars are pieces of junk and belong off the road. I am sue they MAY Be a few GEMS! But I have seen a few clunkers on dealer lots as well, and I think the condition of those represented are pretty much the sum of what is being traded in. Personally, this is a disaster waiting to happen. This will be the same as housing. There are people getting in to new cars through the "clunker" program that should be buying used. But "used cars" don't qualify. How many of these new purchases are going to be "repod" 12 to 18 months down the road!!
  2. I feel this is a biased post. THERE ISN'T ANY INTERIOR WORSE THAN A COBALT!
  3. Yep, I am sure that Hyundai hasn't taken ONE FORD sales
  4. It sounds like the Sedona did what it was designed to do. You can probably buy two of these (with all the rebates they pile on) for the price of most of the Flex I have seen on dealer lots.
  5. I agree with both of you. There are some who really bash these cars. But even though most car companies are having their trials at this time, Toyota and Honda were both bashed as well back when. Hyundai doesn't offer 100K warranty expecting to pay out too much of the time.
  6. So it's less than a great car but people continue to buy them. Other auto makers should be so lucky.
  7. Is there a minimum on how much stock you need to purchase?
  8. It looks like a competitive product. I wonder how much in rebates will come with it from the get go?
  9. If the numbers say they are selling more in Southern California....I can't argue with that. But driving around town (I drive 100-150 miles a day) you just don't see them. Every Ford dealer I pass (yes...I do notice) has several in inventory. I hate the styling. I'd still take the Expedition.
  10. Many, many Flex sitting on the dealer lots in Southern California. It seems to me the Flex is an answer to a question no one is asking. Where were the focus groups on this one? It's over priced, not attractive to look at, says it will tow I believe 5,000 pounds but wouldn't want to do that with FWD. And doesn't get great mpg. Give me an Expedition any day for not that much more dollars.
  11. Are they going to sell this next to the Elantra? Maybe buy one of these and get an Elantra for FREE!!
  12. Yes, and the last generation Thunderbird sold over sticker and look at the prices now. Once supply catches up with demand the idiots who paid over sticker will once again get screwed. IT DOESN'T PAY TO BE THE FIRST ON YOUR BLOCK!!!!!!
  13. Don't blame GMAC. These are probably some of the same dealers who said their family has been running the dealership for the last 60 years and hasn't turned a profit in the last three. Don't rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic......
  14. It's very interesting to note that I have seen many, many, Scion "XBs" on the use car lots with not many miles on them. I suspect that people buy them because of their looks and perceived utility and then they find out how they really ride, ESPECIALLY on the highways. It's a long enough drive from L.A. to Las Vegas without being a passenger/driver in one of those things!
  15. What did they do? Drive it to the nearest retirement home? It sounds like to "mature crowd" were laughing at it. Of course, not in the cars potential demographics.......
  16. Back in -02 bought my wife a brand new XLT w/V6 motor, leather interior, 2WD. It had a bad transmission solenoid, the famous whine in the rear end, a bad power window motor, and the very thin cheap leather they put on the seats wore out very quickly. I traded it in with 45K miles on it for a Toyota 4Runner, which has 62,000 trouble free miles. I know why the Explorer made it on the list......
  17. I wonder the reason(s) why some of these dealers were sent notices to begin with? What were the original reasons? Do those things still remain? It was something to watch the testimonies of some of the Chrysler dealers who were closing. Some of them said something like, "Well it's true we haven't turned a profit in three years, but my Great, Great Grand Daddy started this business 60 years ago, so we feel we are still entitled to still own it!" And there not making any money......
  18. I agree...although under the right (unreal) circumstances something could be a "home run". Take the new Fiesta and sell it for $5,000.00 and it would be a home rum....or any other half decent car for that price!
  19. Anybody who subjectively looked at the junk they were building........for the last ten years or so.
  20. So should those factories be closed and all the employees at the dealerships (Sales, technicians, admin, etc.) and the myriad of supporting suppliers to Toyota be laid off? They put "plenty" of cash in to Americans pockets as well. There are many who still think some of those Camrys are made in Japan. Guess what - the American public (generally) doesn't care.
  21. Good post. It has become very fashionable to "bash" California these days. I am not sure why. Does it have to do with weather, the economy, job prospects, etc. (in good times) or the fact that the average house in a DECENT AREA still can't be had for much less than 400K? I don't know. What I can tell you, is having grown up in Southern California my entire life is that the air is way cleaner than when I was a child. A remarkable feat at best when you consider there are now roughly twice as many cars (and people) than when I was a child. Does this have to do with CARB, our own air standards, our special gasoline that contains more oxygen molecules, our extra smog equipment on cars? Maybe. Now I think I will just sit here in my "average house" in a decent area and wait for that next earthquake that will send us off sailing to New Zealand or something.
