1. Im with you Twincam I am happy have read the following so far: 1) $5,000 bonus 2) Improvements in retirement 3) Improved health care 4) Raises for Entry Level 5) Profit Sharing Improvement (hopefully quarterly) 6) Product investments (supposed to be a huge investment) 7) In sourcing work from other countries So far thats all I can verify. If I find more out I will post. This is great agreement so far. The IUAW certainly gave the GM employees a great future. This sounds good so far but we need to see the language :hyper:
2. Wouldn't that be a lie? Said to be worth????? No source?? Word of mouth?? No data??? Smells like a rumor to me>>>>>>>>> How about you??
3. From page 2: Maybe this will help you understand my efforts. I get REAL answers from my leadership. Not rumors or half truths I simply hold my Chairman and local President to get me answers to my questions. I have no problem picking up the phone and calling the Region or international if my Chairman or President are unable to get me answers. I follow the protocol of giving them the opportunity to get me the information first. My Local President understands the arbitration process and said the testimony with all witnesses including cross examination in large cases like this one quite possibly could be over several days or even weeks. The sample I gave was a lengthy possibility. To listen to people who claim they know the cleaner and "over heard" conversations or know "things were settled" are just spreading lies. I ask educated questions and get educated answers. I dont buy into "I heard" or "I have a source" Just trying to help with the right info Sorry if you struggle with getting out the truth. My friends and coworkers know who I am by my signature and appreciate the real facts and truthfulness in our workplace. No rumors, lies or half truths here. Grimshaw
4. Sorry but this is a lie, untrue and I doubt the DTP Chairman is stupid enough to make these claims that are unfounded and have not run the arbitration process. The Arbitrator will determine the settlement of a grant or non grant and if it is a grant then the Arbitrator will decide the monetary penalty if the UAW Lawyers are successful in proving a violation. Lawyers are fully engaged and the hearings did start yesterday (source wxyx channel 7 detroit) Louie is correct these are lies and misleading. It is awful to lie to coworkers like that.
5. The arbitrator must hear opening arguments, all testimony as well all cross examination and the final written closing statements. All salary compensation from supervisors up to Mulally must be produced, show a violation of the agreement as well as the burden of proof. Once this entire process takes place the arbitrator has 30-90 days the submit a decision. HOW IN THE HELL CAN ANYONE SAY THERE IS A $2,000 SETTLEMENT BEFORE THE CASE EVEN STARTED !!!!
6. Source below from, UAW.ORG The UAW always strives to settle contracts and disputes with management through negotiations, not strikes. Contrary to anti-union propaganda, the vast majority of UAW contracts are settled at the bargaining table without resorting to strike action. Nevertheless, there are times when talks alone don't succeed in resolving issues. The democratic procedure for calling a strike is spelled out in Article 50 of the UAW Constitution. The local union or the International Executive Board may issue a call for a strike vote. All members in the bargaining unit(s) involved must be given due notice of where and when the strike vote will take place. Only members in good standing are eligible to vote. The strike vote must be conducted by secret ballot. The ballots are counted by a committee elected for that specific purpose by the members. A two-thirds majority of those casting ballots must vote in favor of a strike before any strike authorization can be requested from the International Executive Board. The International Executive Board must approve and authorize any strike action. Authorization comes only after the International Executive Board has confirmed that all of the above conditions have been met. Once the IEB authorizes a strike, the striking members are eligible for benefits from the UAW Strike Fund. Current strike benefits are $200 per week and health care coverage and life insurance. To receive strike benefits, a member must take part in picket line duty and/or other strike support activities. ....................................................................................................................................................... The health benefits are covered in a strike. Glad to see you concerned about the possibility. I have been saving for months. With the problems at GM and Chrysler a strike at Ford may be eminent. These companies are still obviously crying poor boy and things are going to get worse before they get better. Be prepared
7. He is lying. The arbitration process (testimony) is just starting. See my eariler post

9. The hearing this week is scheduled for 2 days. Most likely testimony will be scheduled into October. Once both sides agree that all testimony and witnesses have been discussed both parties have 30 days to submit written closing arguments. After that 30 day period the Arbitrator has 30 to 90 days to render a decision. Please stop the sensationalism and rumors Does anyone else have so called "inside information" that I can bring truthfulness upon?? Any one???
10. Wow..... Thanks again Len.............. I appreciate your support (as well as many others here). Thank you
11. So very true......... Corporations determine the Republican candidates The citizens of America determine the Democratic candidates Which party is by the people for the people............. I wonder
12. This old man saved $1,000 sitting on my couch watching a game that will be talked about for years.
13. Thanks for the perspective Len I do read on line news articles in many cities newspapers and I do read the responses. There are many Americans that purposely buy imports just to spite the UAW or union work force. Many hold true to the Republican view that unions must be stopped public or private. Hey Len I have a question for you. Your relatives that hate unions, are they Republican? The FOX News type Republican where they spew verbatim what was said last night on Beck? Just curious. Thanks Len for sticking up for what is right!!!! I for one do thank you................ Keep up the fight Brother!!!!
14. A win is the main topic here. The stupid penalties showed up again!! Stafford is awesome and we have a great quarterback, finally in the D
15. To strike Ford would do nothing but turn the public against us. With the Republican attack on unions and the Republican ownership of the media the threat of a strike at this time is better than striking. Ford is the come back, true American Underdog storyline. To strike them would cripple sales, turn the public against us (UAW) and the media would be relentless of our so called "entitlement mentality" or "dinosaurs" or other Republican propaganda spin. The UAW has steered us through the 2008 Bush Meltdown, bankruptcies, unfair trade, currency manipulation and many other roadblocks that impact our future. I trust the UAW strategy once again will protect us and our future
16. Yesterday, though painful was a day of reflection, sorrow and healing To all who have perished on 9-11 and in this fight against terrorism................ I will never forget 9-11
17. So far Suh Nation is a good guy. Here is his post from the Labor Day thread: Just want to let all the hourly workers out there know that salaried workers like myself appreciate the struggles that you've gone throughout your history for wages, benefits and other items such as holidays and paid vacation. Without your struggles and negotiation skills, items such as the Labor Day Holiday would not exist. To me, Labor Day is a holiday in which I remember my father and grandfather who both were in organized labor. Because of the the union contracts negotiated when my father was at work, I was able to attend college. So, thank you!!! What you do is appreciated. He supports us and seems genuine. The sports stuff is better then the political bs... I do read the sports post and like them, especially since I am a Detroit fan all of our sports teams won this weekend
18. Good post Norte We make the best wages; we have the best healthcare and a great pension as well as many other perks like vacation, personal time and holiday pay. We are the top of the pay scale at $28+ per hour and the UAW is negotiating additional profit targets (quarterly would be great/awesome), wage increases for entry level and a good signing bonus as a way to get back some concessions in these good times. >>>>>>>>>>-- And the most important to all of us…… >>>>> Product Investment Commitments…… for without the UAW getting these investments we would have no job to argue about let alone retire and draw our pension. I can appreciate your post and I am a very thankful UAW Member !!!!!
19. You are correct. I didnt have my contract with me. Yes 90 days you fall off the "active rolls". Thanks Jeff As we know there will be good people on medical now that may lose out on the signing bonus if they even return at 91 days. If you know someone on medical for more than 90 days give them a courtesy call as a reminder.
20. Why speculate? Rumor do nothing but cause stress to some people. If GM and Chrysler get there before Ford Im sure we will be close to them. Just say in
21. Laid off or medical you are always eligible to vote, no changes Medical and the signing bonus, you must be on the active rolls at the date of the agreement. Active rolls on medical is 6 months or less. If you are on medical now and its been more than 6 months you better hurry back and clear medical
22. TPTs do not exist any more. LTS are the only temporary classification under the 2007 agreement
