  1. Of course Ford does not want the core employees at ACH. As of now, those plants are slated for closure or sale. That could all change in 2011 though. The people that signed up there knew it was temporary and could be called back to their home plant at any time. I think it was a proactive move by the UAW to get Ford to allow employees to transfer there on a temporary basis to avoid as many layoffs as possible. I think you like tot stir the pot a little too much.
  2. It is my opinion that you are wrong. The UAW will get us something back. It will not be everything that we gave up but keep in mind that labor keeps going down. GM and Chrysler are now bound by arbitraion for any gains in wages and transplants, aside from the Toyota Georgetown Ky plant all pay less than Ford does. A strike will only hurt us and not the fatcats in upper management. I see profit sharing going up, the 3% bonuses coming back and the break times coming back but thats it. For the record, I was against the last concessions but am now looking at the big picture. A healthy Ford benefits everyone. It will take time to get back to where we were but i believe that we will get there. I guess none of us know for sure but it is really premature to be getting fired up for a strike like some of the people are talking about.
  3. Was it ever officially announced that the C-MAX would be built here? I remember an article in the paper about it but I cant rememeber if was an official announcement. I do remember in the latest mods that we voted down that there was something handwritten in that said C-MAX going to MAP. I dont really see how thats valid since that was attached to passing the mods. Looking at it from a different angle, maybe the sales projections for the upcoming Focus will have the MAP plant working at capacity and when LAP comes online they will put it there...It is hard to speculate what will happen with what product going where and can make your head spin if you think about it too long. Lets just hope that we will all be working in the near future.
  4. Fair enough, you were replying to my post. We will just not agree. JT never came up to me and told me to vote for the mods. Like I said, no one came up to me and condemned the mods but I am not about to vote in a whole new Bargaining Comittee and President. I do believe he is good for the membership, however I am no JT fanboy. I do not always like his politics. I ask you this though, If not JT for president, then who? Other than JT I dont see any viable candidates ...little or no experience in the bunch.
  5. I spoke with our plant commitee (NW, LB), chairman (KG) and president (JT) when these mods came out and not one of them spoke for or against them. They simply presented the facts as they saw them and told me to make a decsion. MY OWN DECISION. I am all for holding our elected officials accountable but by your logic you should also be on here bashing KG, LB, and NW. In fact, the only person who I spoke with that was vocal in condemning the mods was TW who is running for plant commitee. Why you are singling out JT is a mystery to me unless it is for political reasons. Also, why are yelling in every post?

    VEBA

believe Ford will convert our pensions into a 401K in 2011.. and Ford will agree to put more $$ into the VEBA program.. Got anything to back up this statement? Believe it or not, but there are some old timers that are still working that have not even opened a TESPHE account and only have their pensions waiting for them if they ever decide to retire. What about these people? That would not work.
  7. Anyone know the volume of those trucks?
  8. FROM MEXICO??? If that is true that is great news to hear jobs coming FROM Mexico and not TO Mexico.
  9. Are you referring to the Transit Connect or the full size Transit? I was under the impression that KCAP would get the Transit Connect and OHAP would get the full size Transit. The OHAP retool would be a few years off as the Econoline is not gonna be replaced until the full size Transit is brought here. Maybe that is why KCAP is getting ready for retool now.
  10. So what are you saying here? Are you saying that the Ruffles, and sour cream and onion dip forced you to make up a rumor and spew a bunch of trash? Real classy.
  11. This was a very good post. One of the few that does not just berate somebody with profanity and actually has a valid well thought out point. Yes Lupo is and will continue to be a good union man and should be a rising star within our local in the coming years. For all the people that continue to want to talk trash about Jeff Terry, they must not realize what some of us know, and that is that Jeff Terry is well connected downtown and is instrumental to the future of Sterling. Like him or not but it is the truth.
  12. Ok, so you obviously want to use this forum to get your message out there. Who are you and what are you running for? If you are going to talk about people in the plant and run for office maybe you should let everyone know who you are or are you one of the those people that put out those bs letters in the plant that are unsigned? At least take responsibiltity for what you are saying...
  13. Don't forget there are probably trades that are working production or on ILO in Chicago that would have first dibs on these jobs. When they went from 2 shifts to 1, most probably went back to production, so in reality there may not be that many trade openings. It would be nice to know how many trades have recall rights at CAP and the stamping plant...
