  1. I feel the same way and am going to hold out for MY 2014 or maybe MY 2015? Seriously, if "luvforbeer" took delivery of his 2013 MY C-MAX in Sept, 2012 and MY 2013 C-MAX is now scheduled do have a Production Run ending Dec. 1, 2013, even if MY 2014 C-MAX JOB 1 starts before Jan. 2014, (doubtful) the Vehicles won`t hit Dealerships until Spring of 2014! A year and a half MY 2013 Run means a (very) short MY 2014 Production Run or perhaps an early Launch of MY 2015? I won`t purchase a MY 2014 that switches over to MY 2015 6 months later!
  2. I`ll make a deal with you. If we both can get the HID`s on the MY 2014 C-Max, I`ll trade you the MyFordTouch even it it runs apps like Pandora for either LED or regular DRL`s. Other then plugging in a portable Garmin GPS occasionally and loving Sirius/XM radio, I have absolutely no use for all that gadgetry. Its simply a distraction for me and I don`t need to annoy myself with voice activated technology while driving. I believe there is a limit to the amount of connectivity that needs to be performed while the Vehicle is in motion.. LIstening to the prompts from the (Lady) in my Garmin is quite enough, ........"recalculating"LOL
  3. There are lots of attributes that make for a good tire. Longevity, handling, etc but for me, a quiet riding tire is the most important. Amazing how switching from one brand of tire to another (even in the same price range) with similar ratings produce a different level of quietness. Whether driving around the city or zooming down the highway, what`s more irritating then listening to the sound of "wow, wow, wow, wow" of tire noise while accelerating or decelerating.
  4. Please Post after you take delivery of your C-Max and confirm that they were able to enable and activate the DRL`s. Conflicting reports that Ford locked out the BCM from being able to do so starting with the 2012 MY. My local Dealer claims that they can still activate the DRL`s. Let us know if they were able to accomplish this "magic trick" with a few clicks of the Mouse and the IDS Programmer. Why this DRL $45 option # 942 is Fleet Only, is another unsolved mystery!
  5. Sure, but the "bean counters" don`t want to add the extra cost of using LED lights.
  6. Just request that they avoid wiring cuts and splices if possible. Should an electrical issue happen while still under Warranty, if the work was not performed by a Ford/Lincoln Service Tech they will attempt to blame the issue on the "after-market" modification. My wait for the 2014 Ford C-Max will now continue it appears until Spring of 2014 due to the extended MY 2013 build which goes to Dec 1, 2013. By then they should be able to engineer a new Body Control Module that absolutely no one can hack to enable & activate the DRL`s on a US Spec Ford Vehicle. Go figure?
  7. A previously Posted, MY 2013 are (now) scheduled to end production 12/2013! MY 2014 (or) 2015 Ford C-Max`s probably won`t hit Dealers until early Spring of 2014.
  8. I was just attempting to add a bit of exaggerated humor to the "Donut Shoppe" thing. As far as adding an aftermarket LED or DRL Module and that in itself voiding your New Car Warranty, not necessarily so. The Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975 is still Valid and on the Books. All Car Manufacturers must allow you to add or install "Non" OEM Parts or devices to the Vehicle without risk of losing Warranty Coverage. The burden of proof is on the Manufacturer (not) the Car Owner that the "parts or device" caused a component failure due to its incompatibility. (IF) you decide to add a DRL aftermarket module or a LED module, I would have a Ford Dealership install it. Ford previously offered a Genuine OEM DRL Module made by Pacific Insight (BC Canada) which is no longer available for late Model Ford Vehicles but can still be ordered through Ford Parts for older pre-2005 Models.
  9. Thats is true but when have you seen any new MY Vehicle launched (after ) Mar or Apr of a Calendar Year and it not being an early release of the next MY Model? If Ford rolls out the next edition of the 2013 MY C-Max in the Spring of 2014 it will either be a (very) short MY 2014 run or it simply will be a MY 2015 Model skipping the 2014 MY altogether is my guess.
  10. xgman; I`m not so sure if the "idiot" at Ford who has been responsible for keeping both DRL`s and LED`s as Daytime Running Lamps off all Ford US Vehicles will eventually end up working in a Donut Shoppe is a good analogy. Looking at Florida`s bald headed inbred Governor Rick Scott. He started off living in Public Housing with his Parents, his Dad`s Family Car was reposed, he worked in his Mom`s "Donut Shoppe" and he eventually became a Billionaire through his HMA Hospital Corporation which after being levied the largest Fine ever by the Federal Government for Medicare and MediCaid Fraud used his Wealth to finance his Campaign to become Governor of Florida. Not bad for a Donut Shoppe Guy, huh?
  11. Well, Ford and its C-Max Team are leaving nothing to random fickle decisions. CAFE might be one reason as well as a (newer) more fuel efficient Engine that just might be pushed into use a year earlier then planned. Since Car Manufacturing planning, parts allocation, and inventory decisions need to be made a year or two in advance to give Vendors plenty of lead time to have sufficient "Commodities" available for the the new Model Build, MY 2014 (and or) MY 2015 by now is pretty well etched in Stone. When they decide to release their plans is another matter. I just don`t see Ford launching a very slightly modified 2014 C-Max starting with a Build date in Jan 2014 and arriving at Dealerships in Mar or Apr.of 2014. It will be a very brief 2014 MY half year "Run" with an early launch of the MY 2015 Model or no 2014 C-Max but a 2013 1/2 Model thats ends production rather quickly. Someone will soon release what their plans are I`m sure.
  12. I live in South Florida and obviously a lot of Canadians Winter here. Some do purchase US Spec Vehicles and return back to Canada with them. Minor inconvenience of having to look at MPH instead of KPH on the outer Speedometer Cluster but other then that, except for the French/English Decals and the (lack) of DRL`s, same Vehicle AND several thousands of Dollars less costly since the (exchange) rate now is almost the same. Canadian Vehicles do usually get extra (Content) included and often don`t have to pay for Paint Color Upgrades. When they get back to Canada, (obviously) the Ford Canada Dealers know how to perform the "magic trick" and enable and activate the DRL`s. Once the Canadians "Register" and Title their New Vehicles in their Home Province, they end up paying almost the same price in Taxes and Import Duties eliminating most of their original savings. Like I Posted earlier, Chrysler who also is a DRL holdout at least offers it to US Consumers as an extra cost Option or Dealer Installed Plug In Module. I don`t believe that Vehicle`s that go down the same assembly line, some going to Canada and the rest to the US and its Territories have different wiring harness`s or different Body Control Modules. Fleet Buyers can get the DRL`s as an option and are charge a mere $45 for a click of the "Mouse" to change the Software. IMO, complete and total nonsense regardless of how one feels about the matter. Case Closed!
  13. If the MY 2014 C-Max Job 1 Date is Dec, 2013, considering the late December Holiday Shut Down, figure Jan 2014 actual production with Dealers receiving Inventory in Mar or Apr as a 2014 Model Year Vehicle? Very short Model Year Run or it will be a 2015 MY introduced in the Spring of 2014, thats my guess.
  14. I`m thoroughly confused. Assuming that DRL`s (NOT) LED`s, are enabled or activated by simply using the High Beam or Low Beam Headlamp as Daytime Running Lamps at 75% / 80% reduced illumination, what does that have to do with either Fog Lamps, Turn Signals, Parking Lamps, or anything else? Using the Headlamps as DRL`s versus using LED`s as Daytime Running Lamps needing a different configuration are two separate issues, right?
  15. I hope Ford decides to go with an earlier MY 2014 Job 1 Date! If they delay the start of MY 2014 to Dec and Open order Books in Oct and Scheduling in Nov of 2013, they must have a (ton) of "Commodities" left in Inventory for the 2013 MY Build that need to reduce, due to changes for MY 2014. With 2014 MY C-MAX`s hitting the Dealerships in (late) Jan or Feb 2014, I would assume a very short 2014 MY run with an early release of the 2015 Models. Very seldom does a new MY Vehicle get launched and arrive for sale (after) Jan of the Model Year its being sold in. Usually, it would be introduced with the early introduction of the (following) years Model?
  16. For what its worth, I just spoke with the "Fleet Manager" at Mullinax Ford here in Florida about the absurdity of the "FIN" requirement to order the Daytime Running Light option # 942. Unfortunately, there is no way around it for a Retail Purchase. I asked him to check with his #1 Electronics Tech about MY 2013 DRL enabling. He told me he was there when he watched the Tech do the inquiry on his Work Station Computer with Ford Tech Support and it gave him specific details of how to "activate". He used a 2013 Ford C-Max U.S. Spec Vehicle for the inquiry and they said, no problem. Guess we will soon see. My order goes in next month for my 2014 C-Max so it probably will be late Summer before (I) know how this finally turns out. When I lived in MA, I would have just made a week-end trip up to Montreal to eat Smoked Meat and drink a few Pints of Molson Export (which by the way, the REAL Stuff, they Don`t export), and then hit a Canadian Ford Dealer who I know has the proper IDS Programmer Software to end the madness for sure. Best of luck in the mean time for those with their Vehicles in hand.
  17. That was one hell of a long "thread" but really does not address my concern or issue. I simply want to "enable" or activate the regular High Beam or Low Beam Headlamp to work as a Daytime Running Light (DRL`s) which I had done on my 2011 Ford Fiesta. The Focus ST "thread" is basically attempting to utilize its LED Lamps as a Daytime Running Light. Since many Ford Vehicles do not have LEDs, it appears that the "Software" no longer permits access to the DRL`s in the Exterior Lighting section of the Body Control Module which normally would utilize the actual regular Headlamps as DRL`s.
  18. There is a very well made after market DRL Module that installs in just 15 minutes and only cost about $70. It requires (no) wire cuts or splicing either! Worst case scenario I might go that route if) thats a big (if) my Ford Dealership is willing to install it and it won`t impair my new car warranty. Big question mark there since, its not an official Ford Genuine Authorized OEM aftermarket accessory. You can check it out at their Web Site. LiteMinder.com or call them in CA at 510-352-5483
  19. U.S. Spec Ford Escape with DRL`s? (Not) LED`s? 2013 or 2014 MY? Was it a Fleet Vehicle? Did someone perform a "Magic Trick" and enable the DRL`s out of their Magicians Magic Hat IDS Programmer? Ahhhh, the Mystery continues.
  20. I agree totally, but saying the Toyota Corolla`s appeal is due to its "good looks", say what? Boring.................! Dependable, affordable, fuel efficient, excellent residual trade in value, and more, no doubt. I thought nowadays, pure utility was not always the strongest selling point. People purchase high end Makes and Model Vehicles (not) just because they can take them from point A to point B. Otherwise, who in the right mind would purchase any Vehicle costing more then 18K?
  21. You may be correct that Ford might have made a recent "Software" change in the Body Control Module that can no longer be accessed through the Smart Junction Box and Fords IDS Programmer. I`m going to order my 2014 Ford C-Max sometime in May. I already ran this issue by my Salesman who sold me my 2011 Ford Fiesta 3 years ago. I`m using the X-Plan and he told me that attempting to order this Vehicle using their Dealerships "FIN" will be near impossible for lots of logistical and pricing reasons. He also said there was no way even with their area zone managers help, ordering the DRL`s as a $45 Fleet Option won`t work either and the DORA report will kick it back and (not) accept option # 942 without a (valid) FIN order number. So we will see, I warned him, when my Vehicle finally rolls off the Delivery truck, he will immediately drive it into the Shop and have their (ace) Electrical Tech attempt to do his magic trick. If it fails, they will either have to contact a Canadian Ford Dealer and find the (fix) or its No Sale. I`ll get my deposit back and he can just add my special order Vehicle to Retail Inventory and sell it at a higher markup to someone else. If the 1/100 of a mpg is Fords justification for their asinine Policy, I won`t be part of it, sorry. Again, the (mystery) continues and no one seems to have a definitive explanation. Maybe someone can call either Alan Mullaly or Bill Ford lll and get an answer?
  22. akirby; The (real) mystery if there is one, is that no one at Ford Customer Service, Technical Support, Public Relations, or for that matter a local Ford Dealers Service Department Manger can give anyone a definitive answer, one way or the other. Like I Posted earlier, in response to someone in Wash DC who was given a "not possible" answer to stop at another Ford Dealership to confirm. I was told the same thing in regards to my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback and another Ford Dealership out of town had one of (their) Electrical Tech`s make an attempt using, I`m assuming, the same IDS Programmer and in less then 10 minutes, as they say, "Let there be Light". Again, I know its a insignificant matter to 99% of Ford buyers but for the odd few that would prefer having the DRL`s on their Vehicles, let them have them.
  23. I agree and its become so excessive especially in certain Vehicles like Audi, I totally dislike the LED effect now. Many Headlamps with LED`s are beginning to look gaudy like an overdone Christmas Tree display and are becoming annoying and a distraction. The rationale (if there was one and it appears now, unproven) of the DRL`s was to simply have a reduced (80%) illumination of the oncoming Vehicle headlamps so it could better be seen in bright sun conditions or at twilight. Its only a matter of time where the LED displays will eventually be circling the headlamp display in sequential order or blinking. Then even (I) will agree, its time to pull the plug!
  24. Since most of same model Fords Vehicles are made at the same Plants and no doubt on the same Assembly Lines for both U.S. and Canadian export, its difficult to assume it was an (accidental software issue). The question is what that (some other reason) actually is? The cost of the Module, assuming there is one? Charge for it as an extra cost option as available for Fleet Sales. If its already incorporated and disabled in the Body Control Module, simply allow the Dealers to enable (activate) the DRL`s at the Owners request. The Service Department could either provide the 10 minutes required as a (courtesy) or charge a nominal amount for the time required.
  25. With all due respect to Toyota, I personally find it impossible to comprehend that their aging, unimaginative relic, their Corolla is still capturing any Buyers at all. True its proven dependable, gets superior fuel economy but its design has`nt changed significantly in Decades! What the hell is its appeal? Its so (yesterday) and boring, IMO
