  1. You can get an XLT F-150 with a 6.2, but it didn't sell. Ford said at the 2015 launch only 5% of sales were the 6.2 and they were mostly Raptor.
  2. Well, the next Tundra wouldn't be until 2017MY and the 5.0 in the Ram only got 23 mpg in 2wd on more expensive fuel so not much of a game changer.
  3. Ford Says "No" to F-150 Diesel, but Chrysler Says Ram 1500 Diesel Makes Sense"We don't see the dynamics for an F-150 diesel right now," said Raj Nair, Ford's group vice president of global product development. "If you go through the math, your payback is much longer and consumers are smart enough to know that." http://www.edmunds.com/car-news/ford-says-no-to-f-150-diesel-but-chrysler-says-ram-1500-diesel-makes-sense.html Your payload will suck, too. At least on the Ram. Ford is betting people will be smart. Ram is betting people will be ignorant.
  4. 490 lbs payload for the Ram with EcoDiesel report: http://special-reports.pickuptrucks.com/2014/02/2014-annual-physical-braking.html chart: http://blogs.cars.com/files/final_ap_bigchart.jpg
  5. Sadly, the Ram Ecodiesel won't be towing or hauling much of a load. 700 lb payload ratings exposed by Power Kid, Rambo and fordmantpw on f150online. http://www.f150online.com/forums/2015-f-150/492873-if-anyone-ford-listening-2.html
  6. "Sargent said the engines themselves may not be troublesome, though influential outlets such as Consumer Reports have panned turbocharged four-cylinders. Rather, he said, drivers may be accustomed to a larger engine and therefore find the smaller one “different” and report that difference as a problem."
  7. The next Tundra won't be until the 2017 model, if it happens. That's 3 years away which is an eternity.
  8. Toyota also blamed the weather. “January was off to a solid start, but the weather condition slowed industry sales in key markets late in the month,” said Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager. http://pressroom.toyota.com/
  9. It is 11 weeks for Dearborn and 2 weeks for Kansas City. This doesn't mean their is a problem like TTAC said. It is just how long it takes. GM shut down its factories for 21 weeks to retool. Fort Wayne shut down 9 weeks to retool. Dearborn will spent a couple more weeks for a much bigger change and 8 weeks less overall. Big whoop!
  10. F-Series 46,536 -0.7% Silverado 28,926 -18.4% Ram 25,071 +25% Sierra 11,118 -13.5%
  11. What is sad is that everyone on putc is eating it up like it is some kind of scoop or something starting with Lou and Ryan with the Ford has "realized" it needs a diesel and how 2018 is the date: http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2014/01/ford-to-boost-super-duty-production-by-15-percent.html
  12. F-250: The new F-150 is Ford’s first step in a broad strategy to shift all of its full-size truck bodies, including the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups and the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator S.U.V.’s, to primarily aluminum construction over the next three years, Ford engineers said. The plan will create common manufacturing processes and tooling in Ford’s three United States truck plants. - NYT, January 10, 2014 2.7 EcoBoost: TTAC merely wrote that there would be a 2.7. This is not news and they were not the first. A 2.6 or 2.7 had been reported by PUTC first years ago. The 2.7 was confirmed on F-150 forums since last year. Exact post from the F-150 forums on January 2013: "As far as engines the 5.0L v8 and the 3.5L ecoboost are here to stay and are rumored to have increased fuel economy ratings along with more towing capacity thanks to the use of aluminum. They will be joined by a 2.7L V6 ecoboost 320hp/375 ft/lbs and a 3.5 N/A entry level v6 280hp/250 ft/lbs." http://www.f150forum.com/f2/2014-f-150-coded-p552-187918/ TTAC brought nothing new to the table and got the aluminum delay wrong.
  13. I agree with your post. "TTAC’s sources tell us that even though the next-generation F-150 hasn’t even launched yet, there are already early-cycle and mid-cycle updates in the cards." - duh, that' not news. You don't need sources for that. That's the way it always is. "According to them, Ford is feeling the sting of losing out to Ram on the first half-ton diesel pickup race." - according to you. "A diesel F-150 was in the works, but became a casualty....in 2008." - we knew about that from the press releases. "Now Ford is apparently at work on a 3.0L V6 diesel, codenamed “Lion”, that is set to appear by 2018." - like bzcat says they are ASSuming it is just for a F-150. "other powertrain developments, we’ve learned that the 2.7L Ecoboost will have somewhere in the ballpark of 290-300 horsepower, though torque numbers remain unknown." - thanks for nothing, ball parks have been on other sites already. TTAC is not reporting anything new, just info they got from other sites or common sense - "already updates in the cards" - no, duh.
  14. I like this comment: Consider what the MPG could be for 2015 F150: Add 2 mpg for 700 lbs wt loss Add 1 mpg for improved aero dynamics Add 2 mpg for 2.7 V6 EcoBoost You could improve from today's 23mpg to 28 mpg Add 2 mpg for 10-speed auto in 2 years Then you get the magic 30 MPG Plus all the added features and exclusives and it is going to be tough on competition... For years!!!
  15. Fiat Chrysler Gets Dutch Headquarters AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Now that Fiat has complete ownership of Chrysler, the new company has a new name and a new headquarters. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. will be headquartered in the Netherlands, with shares traded in both New York and Milan. “A new chapter of our story begins with the creation of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. A journey that started over a decade ago, as Fiat sought to ensure its place in an increasingly complex marketplace, has brought together two organizations each with a great history in the automotive industry and different but complementary geographic strengths. FCA allows us to face the future with a renewed sense of purpose and vigor,” said John Elkann, Chairman of Fiat. The changes will need to be approved by current Fiat stockholders, and the final language will need to be approved by the company’s board. The company hopes to begin trading in New York in October, and says the transaction is expected be finalized by the end of the year. CEO Sergio Marchionne has been assuring workers that the decision on a headquarters will have no bearing on the work done at what had been Chrysler headquarters in Auburn Hills, and at Chrysler and Fiat operations around the world. In its statement today, the company said the headquarters decision was based “on the needs and opportunities resulting from the creation of a large, global auto group through the union of Fiat and Chrysler.” More: http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2014/01/29/chrysler-posts-improved-profit/ (CBS is running with the Dutch headquarters.) ------ 'Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' is new name, stock on NYSENeither Chrysler headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., not Fiat h.q. in Turin, Italy, was named the main h.q. That prickly issues remains to be settled. Switching to the U.S. would cause a firestorm of controversy in Italy, where Fiat is the largest private employer. And there'd be a fierce backlash in the U.S. if a company rescued by American taxpayers' money were to move out of the country. CEO Sergio Marchionne likes to say the h.q. is on an airplane. He travels between the two countries often, sleeping on planes during the trips. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2014/01/29/fiat-chrysler-to-be-new-name-stock-traded-in-ny/5015575/ (What a coward! The CEO cannot even say where the headquarters of the company is. No Guts. No Glory. Fiat.) ------- Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to be company's new nameFiat's board of directors agreed on the new name Wednesday, with headquarters for tax purposes in the United Kingdom. But the board sidestepped the thorny political issue of whether the true headquarters would be in... Corporate executives, including Sergio Marchionne, CEO of both companies, say the real headquarters is on an airplane. http://www.idahostatejournal.com/news/business/fiat-chrysler-automobiles-to-be-company-s-new-name/article_7c39ecb9-6ffd-509f-ae68-122e86674951.html (Still playing games about the plane being the headquarters. Just say where the headquarters is.)
  16. The TNonTAC hates F-150's, always trying to internationalize them, force diesel only, midsizers. They also lied about the F-150 having delays awhile ago but are still linking to it. If we have to wait to 2018 for the 10 speed that will suck. Hope it is more BS.
  17. While FCA was officially formed in the Netherlands and its “residence” for tax purposes will be in the United Kingdom, CEO Sergio Marchionne has repeatedly downplayed talk of a “headquarters” location. During a radio interview during this month’s North American International Auto Show, Marchionne said, “Chrysler is fundamentally an American brand and will always be.” He added that the “world is becoming incredibly flat for the automotive business.” Can't have it both ways. Fiat is not American.
  18. GM has the Colorado crew cab long box featured on their homepage. https://www.chevrolet.com/2015-colorado-small-truck.html The Tacoma crew cab long box received complaints because it was said to be almost as long as a full-size. Now the Colorado crew cab long box is 3" longer than the Tacoma. Chevy Colorado short box crew cab 212.3" long. The Silverado short box crew cab 230.03" long. 212.3"/230.03" = 92.3% the length of a Silverado. (short bed to short bed) Colorado 6' long box crew cab: 224.1" long Silverado 5.5' box crew cab: 230" long 224.1/230= 97.4% the length of a Silverado (long to short) Colorado 6' long box crew cab: 224.1" long Silverado standard box crew cab: 239.57" long 224.1/239.57=93.5% the length of a Silverado (long to long) Width: Colorado 74.3" wide, Silverado 80" wide. 74.3/80=93% of the width of a Silverado. http://wot.motortrend.com/1311_dimensions_2015_chevrolet_colorado_vs_frontier_vs_tacoma.html
  19. Does anyone know the start up date or month? The start up date for the 2015 F-150 was mentioned in one of the forums but I cannot find the post. Also what month should the order guide be released?
  20. Piece now made Newsday and is now titled: New Ford F-150 at Detroit Auto Show reveals 10 Ford mistakeshttp://www.newsday.com/classifieds/cars/new-ford-f-150-at-detroit-auto-show-reveals-10-ford-mistakes-1.6826992 Mark Williams, You got 2 out of 4 stars rating. One of the commentators writes, "Did doge write this article or pay Newsday for it?" The biggest mistake was you gave in to the "this site is Ford biased" trolls and lost credibility.
  21. A few points. 1) He is asking where the Outdoorsman package is, but when Ram first came out with theirs he said it was "just a sticker package, without any real substantive assets you couldn’t order off a factory checklist." Ford doesn't need another sticker package. XLT and XLT with FX4 can go outdoors. Raptor is the king of outdoors and hasn't gone anywhere. They're just not talking about it at this time. 2) Ford copied the 2014 Tundra grille? Ford released the Atlas in January 2013. The Tundra debuted February 2013. If anyone copied, Toyota copied Ford. Duh. 3) More Atlas? Huh? It copies the Atlas almost exactly. It's missing 35" tires, 22" wheels, and a 2" leveling kit which will only hurt mileage. If someone wants to do that, they can do it on their own.
  22. Here's what Mark Williams thinks Ford got wrong with the F-150. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2014/01/10-things-the-2015-ford-f-150-got-wrong.html (I disagree with everything on this list. He seems to be struggling to come up with 10 reasons and half of it wasn't something Ford got wrong, it was a question he was asking.)
  23. 18 minutes ago... Mike Levine ‏@mrlevine @IDMPhoto @SZMatheson @UncleWithCars @EricTingwall More news to share about Raptor later.
  24. And this other guy: "The six-speed automatic transmission lives on in the 2015 F-150. With all of the legwork Ford has put in to boost the 2015 F-150’s fuel economy, the move to go with a six-speed auto instead of an eight-speed gearbox seems curious at best." - Trevor Dorchies, associate editor, KBB Oh really? Maybe they have a 10 speed that is coming out next. How do these guys not know this? "Is the 2015 Ford F-150's face lift a significant enough redesign in a quickly advancing and competitive truck market that includes GMs powerful economic direct-injected engines and a solid, vault-like chassis, along with Ram's soft-riding coil-link rear end, self-leveling air suspension, eight-speed transmission and a clean diesel pushing near 30-mpg? To be honest, I was hoping for more." - John Cappa, editor, FourWheeler Face lift? He continues: "I love the innovative lightweight thinking behind the aluminum-bodied 2015 F-150, although I suspect Ford will have a lot of teething problems prior to, and even after, the official launch date. Everything from the aluminum stamping issues to paint adhesion, durability, corrosion and more will likely need to be addressed. There are a lot of unknowns considering this is the first aluminum pickup truck." CR chimes in: Trash talks the body repair costs but ends with, "The big potential for the truck is fuel economy. It has gone from among the heaviest in the segment to the lightest. The 2.7-liter V-6 engine along with the new body has the potential to be the most fuel-efficient truck in the industry. That is going to be a big selling point." http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-2014-detroit-auto-show-truck-experts-20140114,0,1597890.story?page=2
