  1. Thanks for the update. Seems like a lot of stuff related to tires lately. Even the OEM tires had a TSB for road noise. Keep us posted.
  2. take it in and get it documented for sure. If it were me, the first thing I would check would be the fluid level. maybe too much or not enough.
  3. I don't know what's going on, but here is the story from another site. I purchased a 2014 Ford Escape two weeks before thanksgiving at which time it rained heavily. I had leaks at both the driver and passenger columns. I returned the vehicle and it was replaced by the dealership. It rained the day after I received my replacement, and that Escape also leaked. I was told by the service department that they could not locate the source of the leak, however, upon retrieving my vehicle from the service dept. not only was the headliner wet, the carpeting on the passenger side was wet as well. It was only through my own diligence that I was able to have the service dept. take a closer look at the vehicle. Apparently, this is a manufacturing issue with the vehicle regarding some sort of self-leveling adhesive that is used in the run-off sections of the doors. I have escalated this issue to Ford Motor Company, and am waiting on a reply.
  4. The latest greatest thing I heard was that it was some sort of self-leveling compound they they use during assembly was the culprit. I have no idea what this is or where they use it, but would love to find out. So to date the windsheild seal has been blamed. Then the roof racks. Then the Pano roofs. Now this. Beats me. Maybe its all 4 things are at fault.
  5. Yes, but it has been 20 years since it's been this cold so I thought it might be a factor. And the OP says its a 2013. Mine is a 2013 and it falls within that range. You don't go by the year, you go by the build date. Last time I checked many 2013s were built within the affected dates. But here is the TSB anyway.
  6. All good comments and suggestions. I find it a little odd that the dealer dismisses the TSB so readily, unless your vehicle build date doess not fall within affected vehicles.
  7. What engine do you have? Do you have the power Pano roof?? Please see TSB below. It says 2 weeks or longer, but the sub-zero temps could shorten that time frame. TSB 13-03-04 – 2013 Escape – Discharged Battery – Vehicle Not Driven For Two Weeks Or Longer Some 2013 Escape vehicles built on 8/28/2012 and through 12/5/2012 and equipped with a roof opening panel may exhibit a discharged battery condition only after the vehicle has not been driven for two weeks or longer. Follow the service procedure steps in this TSB to correct the condition by replacing the roof opening panel motor shade and roof opening panel motor sliding front panel. Refer to the workshop manual, section 501-17.
  8. Not really. Shipping just the parts is much more efficient and saves a ton of space than shipping the car fully assembled. Just think how many 1.6 engines you can get in a cargo container versus how many fully assembled cars.
  9. Sorry, I didn't take pictures. But with mine, the two bolts for the spoiler did not match up to the knock-outs/lightning holes of the rear hatch sheet metal. So I had to drill two holes large enough for the bolts and driver to pass through. Remember, you don't have to use the bolts. Today's VHB tapes are more than capable. Here is a picture of my rear hatch. I didn't get the top in the picture, but it gives you an idea of what I mean by knock-out holes. You can see lots of round ones, so I just created 2 holes where I needed them.
  10. I gotta say, next to trying to track down an electrical DTC, this has got to be #2 on the list of annoying things about a car. It could be that because it has gotten so cold that things have shrunk (just ask george costanza)to the point of rattling. I have taken apart my fair share of interior stuff on my ride and it could be that a clip is not engaged properly, or missing altogether. If it were me, I would localize the problem and uninstall, inspect, and re-install. Sorry to hear about your troubles with the dealer. Why am I not shocked.
  11. There are many levels of off-roading. The Escape is at the lower end to be sure.
  12. I can only hope that my Escape, being a world design (European), did a good job of rust-proofing. I live in Virginia, and since no one knows how to drive on bad roads here, they put enough treatment down to cover the moon. Now they are spraying something, and I don't know what that consists of.
  13. I had my oil changed at the dealer and my oil monitoring came on a couple months later. So the dealer didn't reset it. Big surprise there. Yes, one of your key FOBs is an administrator key. Using this key, you can reset everything. The manual is your best resource, because these keys can do so much.
  14. Howie, don't you need to update your profile? And shouldn't you be over in the Fusion forum? ?

  16. Ah, thank you sir. First time I have googled something and didn't even get a hit. Keep saying fuel injection control module.
  17. Nobody? I'm not feel'in the love here.
  18. My buddy has a Transit and loves it. He was showing me his rear fog lights (cause I was showing him the rear fogs I installed on my Escape) when he asked about the large hatch on his rear door at the top, drivers side. It's.wider than it is tall, like 6" or 7" wide by 2" or 3" tall. Does anyone know what this is for? Rear facing work light?
  19. Hmmm, I can only go off of my vehicle history. '89 Pathfinder - 225,000 miles when i sold it. Never any brake line issues. '01 Toyota rav4 - 206,000 when I sold it. Never any brake line issues. '13 Ford Escape - Squeaky front brakes. TSB fixed that. What kind of climate is the vehicle in? Just trying to ask if there are any outside factors that your not mentioning that contributed to the brake lines failure. Wrong brake fluid put in at some point? I dunno, just seems odd. I agree with the above post that a visual inspection should be done periodically, which is one reason why I change my own oil. It gives me a chance to get under the vehicle and look around.
  20. Excellent Howie. Hope all turns out well for you this time.
  21. Oh, OK. Not sure how that leak could get to the headliner. I guess that's what confused me.
