  1. Same here about 3 months ago. . They also changed the wiring harness. It's been fine since.
  2. Got the Escape back and so far so good for the sensor. As for the TSB for the popping sound, it was confirmed and they ordered the exaust parts . Seems like a lot of trips at the dealer with a new car but I still like it a lot and you have to expect that with a new model...Hopefully Ford's engineers are taking notes....
  3. I brought the E in the shop for them to change a faulty sensor and showed them the TSB because mine has been doing it too eversince day 1. They weren't aware of it. I'm the first. Let's wait and see what they say later today.
  4. Got the Escape back friday. Liftgate's all fine now. Plus they finally confirmed one faulty sensor. The SM said that they'll start by changing that one. Meaning that if it goes off again for nothing, it's now a known problem . Let's hope it the right one.
  5. Hi everybody, I had noticed a while back that my liftgate was rubbing on my bumper when closing. Not a lot but enough to scratch the bumper. You dont really see the misalignment by eye.. Showed it to my dealer on my last oil change and the bobyshop guy said I was the second Escape with that problem, Now it's in the shop for adjustement , repaint the bottom of the gate and change the rear bumper.. They're supposed to address the sensor problem again... I hope they find the problem... If not, I'll make a nice little video to share....Cant take it anymore... They lent me a new Focus... Not bad, It.s just like a baby Escape.....
  6. Thanks Ticmxman, that was very informative. Not sure I'll go all the way to the buyback solution though, not yet anyway.
  7. Take two...... Went to the dealer and they saw what the problem is. Ford says it can happen from time to time by sensing something like a manhole, or a curb or any stupid thing. It's normal operation... Ok but now they go off more and more.... Try to listen to a good song when the sound drops 75% for no reason.. I turn them off every damn day.... So no one else is having this problem ? I guess I'll have to start bugging Ford to get satisfaction.... It was driving me crazy...now I am .........
  8. I have the roof and the hole as you say.
  9. Anybody having problems with the proximity sensors going off for no reason ? Kind of driving me crazy.... I do turn them off but ..... I understand with snow, it could set them off but now with a clean car , on a sunny day ? Sounds like a second visit at the dealer.....
  10. Like I wrote in another thread, I'm getting the same mileage as you... But it's 90% city with so many stop signs it's crazy... I know it's my driving... Yes I've got a heavy foot... You'd never be slowed down because of me, that's for sure....And yes I use the remote start often.... But I'm not worried anymore because on the highway, my gas consumption goes down to almost what it's supposed to be...Just imagine how much it cost me with my Ranger 4.0l with the same driving conditions.. Much better with the Escape..
  11. This is nuts... Did all this happen after the MFT update ? I'm still reluctant to do it ...I've got my new SD card and the file downloaded on a USB key but my Escape is so good as is, that I dont to mess with it... I'm using the remote start allmost everyday and yes I've been pressing the brake pedal first , then hit the start button, just like the book says... It also shut off after the selected 10 minutes a few times without any issues at all.... I'm not going to "try" not pressing the brake pedal just to see what happens....
  12. Hi everybody. Yesterday I lost my Escape for the day at the dealer. The main reason was a cracked windshield. Not Ford's fault of course. Got a small rock at the bottom between the wipers that made a small hole, even bent a wiper, then it craked in all directions from the hole. These new windshields are so thin it's amazing. No wonder it cracked like that. But it's cheaper than I thought. Under $350.00. As long as I had an appointment, I asked them to look at the 4 door handles that would stick open when cold and humid. Also the passenger's back door that wouldn't close (frozen latch) 2 times during the holidays. The first time I managed to close it and the second time, I was lucky to have someone with me that held the stupid door with 2 hands till I got home... Great for a 40k car... They took all 4 doors apart and lubricated all the parts. The service manager told me that the robots didn't do their job properly. All the parts were practicly bare. No wonder it froze he said. That seems to be fixed now. But of course it's not as cold now... Anyway, we'll see... The other thing I asked them to look at was my "ECOBOOST/4WD" logo under the "TITANIUM" badge on the back door. I noticed a few weeks ago that I couln't see the"4WD" anymore. Looking closely, I saw that even some of the blue and green was peeling off the words also. Now it's completely blank. The manager told me I was the first to ask for that. Of course, none in stock. Has to be ordered .So I'll pay them them another visit when they receive it. .
  13. One of my back door handles started to stick open...Annoying..... I'll try some sprayed lubricant.... We'll see....
  14. Oh excusez-moi mon cher ami, I meant brakes of course.... And I'd seen your previous post mentionning it to someone else and I still wrote it that way.... Yep that's me.....
  15. I've experienced the squeeling twice now and both times I was in a hurry, breaking hard, just like akray99 says. Those breaks will squeel when very hot ... Other than that, nothing... But it shouldn't happen with a 40k car.....
  16. Nope, they dont come on with remote.... "If available" is confirmed.... It's not !... Would've been nice though.....
  17. Same here. The street names were not displayed for about a week and it just came back on a couple of days ago... But the GPS works fine anyway.
  18. Yep, I agree. Last week with like 1-2 inches on the ground, I couldn't wait to try my Escape with the 4 brand new winter tires on... Wow is all I can say...Hard as hell to do a fishtail.... It wont let you.... Take offs from street corners felt just like my Ranger on 4 wheels but without the need to switch back manually to 2 wheels when on dry land...I really like that... Bring more of that white stuff, enough with the fu------g rain allready......
  19. When I first got my Escape, I was getting a bit frustrated with my average. But by reading a lot of forums and really thinking about it , I cant really complain. Now with 4000 kms on it, my average is still around 16.5 lts/100kms which translates to about 15 mi/gal. That's 90% city and 10% hwy. It is a lot, but I work 8 kms ( not even 5 miles) from home. I have 1 light and....25 stop signs... Lots of stop and go. I'm almost always on 4 wheels. Accelerating and breaking. Those are the worst conditions.. Cant expect good milleage...I did a few runs on the highway after a reset and I got down to 8lts/100kms (29mi/gal), so it does what it's supposed to do... Imagine how much my Ranger 4.0L cost me with the same conditions.... But whatever the amount of gas burning, I really love my Escape so far... Superb vehicule.... Pierre
  20. After 3 days of driving, not only did I get my warning about the TPMS fault, but I got 2 lights on now. The tire sign light plus I get an "i" in the bottom middle of the MFT screen again with the TPMS fault warning.... The tire light, I can live with or hide it, but I think the "i" is too important since it shows everything wrong with the car... So you can't really hide that one.. Not sure I can live with that one on all the time smack in the middle of my steering wheel..... We'll see....
  21. Well, yesterday I put my brand new winter wheels on, without TPMS sensors, and ......nothing... No warning, no light... Went to work today, 8kms, still nothing... Does the system works at all ?... Or maybe my tire guy put them on and forgot to charge me (I didn't want them) ... I'll deflate a tire and start the car and see what happens... Mmmm...Weird...
