  1. I had the problems as described in ID 14S17 back in November. I had my vehicle in the dealer a total of four times. The only way they were able to get the issue to go away was by replacing the entire engine wiring harness. The fix now is likely less drastic, but my dealer was desperate. It threw all kinds of codes, engine surging on the highway, no torque when getting on the throttle, and engine stalling. Since having this fixed I have had no problems with the vehicle.
  2. Exact thing has happened to me two or three times, but has not caused me any trouble.
  3. No. Does the Cadillac XTS share the same base engine as the Impala? Hardly ever do you see a premium brand share the same base, or near base engine. If anything they would get rid of the 2.5L but even that is unlikely.
  4. Took the vehicle to the dealer today. They are going to order a "whole wiring harness" and replace it. I'm guessing it is just the wiring harness for the powertrain. I was told it is going to be a couple day job.
  5. I had the entire TSB 13-7-5 done a week ago. A few days went by and seemed like all was well. Then I started up the vehicle and had the same message you speak of, "Engine Fault, Service Now". Like you said, it goes into limp mode. Turned the vehicle off and back on and it was back to normal. I also have a surging and lack of engine power symptom that does not throw any codes or anything. I don't know if it's related, but the symptoms were identical to that described in the TSB. I'm very disappointed the TSB didn't fix either of the problems. When it happens again I will be driving it to the dealer without shutting it off to get it diagnosed. Problem is I am done at work at 4:00 PM and it typically takes an hour to get to the dealer, which closes at 5. Frustrating.
  6. Can you provide a picture of where they sealed it up?
  7. So I talked to my dealer and they are ordering the parts per the TSB. The last couple days the vehicle has turned itself off twice when braking for a turn and a stop. No idea what is going on here now, and I don't know if the symptom is at all relalted to this TSB. As soon as I get one issue figured out something else pops up. Other issues: 1) Radio and music through Bluetooth do not function and buttons are not responsive and does not output sound. When this happens the reverse guidelines also turn themselves off. 2) Whistling noise coming from front driver side. Only when temperature is below 60 degrees, a little bit of wind, and driving over 50 mph. I've taken the roof cross bars off and inspected all the weatherstripping around the door. 3) Popping sound on startup, as described in other threads.
  8. Finally! This has been what I've been waiting for for 3 months. Been to the dealer two times already, and would have gone a third time last week Friday, but all four dealers within 50 miles could not diagnose it (no technicians after 4 PM). The engine fault, service now message goes away after the vehicle is restarted, so I turned it off and on and it was normal again. Exactly what I have been dealing with.
  9. You're right. Apple probably does this on purpose because they knew they would be trying to do their own phone and car integration. Easy way to get better adoption if your competitor can't do a comparable feature. MFT has been good in principle, but execution has been poor. For instance, why does it sometimes take 10 seconds to index on the music on my phone, and the next time it won't complete the index? Unplug and plug in the phone multiple times to get it to work. Not to mention MFT has completely locked up twice and is impossible to remedy without restarting the vehicle multiple times. "Kids, the radio quit working, let me pull off the highway so I can turn the vehicle off and on". I bought the vehicle more for the fuel economy, engine output, aesthetics, and convenience features more than MFT.
  10. Nothing too spectacular, just things that should have been right since day one. Better phone pairing, easier voice commands. I'm not going to hold my breath on iPhone texting.
  11. Very similar condition to what I have been trying to get diagnosed. I've had a MAP sensor code and an "engine fault, service now" is the information display. The two times I have taken it in to the dealer they have not been able to find anything wrong. In my case I doubt it is transmission related, but engine instead. When acting up however, it does behave very similar to what you describe.
  12. Same thing has happened to mine twice.
  13. They could not find an issue with the vehicle. They acknowledge that the engine fault, service now message did indeed come on. What ticks me off even worse is that the previous dealer I took it to, Kocourek Ford, also could not find an issue, even though the check engine light was for the MAP sensor. Kocourek also told me they could duplicate the issue and they didn't do anything. When I picked up the vehicle from Dave Marsten Ford they said they did couldn't do anything, but indicated that in the Ford records it stated that Kocourek changed out the MAP sensor. So in essence, Kocourek did not change anything, but told Ford they changed the sensor. That allowed them to get paid for the parts and labor. It wouldn't surprise me if they go ahead and sell that sensor to someone with non-warranty repairs. What a bunch of crooks. I will be contacting Ford directly about Kocourek.
  14. Thank goodness I got 2013 Titanium. I don't care for the chrome.
  15. Yesterday I got the message "engine fault, service now", on the instrument cluster display, but the check engine light never came on. The vehicle did seem like it was running rough. I turned the vehicle off to call the dealer, and when I turned it back on it seemed normal again. I dropped it off at the dealer anyway and I should find something out tomorrow. Hopefully they get to the root of whatever is causing the issue.
  16. I have a friend who works at an independent mechanic shop and he stated that based on his research and experience it is a failing MAP sensor. He used to work for a Mazda dealership and on all the turbo Mazdas the MAP sensor was critical to proper function. I'm not saying it is the MAP sensor either, but it's a damn good place to start. Put a new sensor in, and if it's fixed it's fixed. They already couldn't figure out what was wrong, so there's 3 hours wasted. Spend another day doing the same thing? What's that cost versus a sensor? I'm also sure they would have checked for a loose wire, since that would be the easiest thing to do. Well here will be another 1.5 hour round trip to the dealer.
  17. On the way home from work the engine started surging and downshifting for every little hill. Called the dealer and asked if they stock the MAP sensor and they do not. It did not throw a code, but they said they would need to "diagnose" it prior to ordering anything. I bet when I bring it in the diagnosis will go as good as last time.
  18. If I display the camera settings screen and turn the ignition off, the gridlines setting turns itself off? Does this happen to anyone else? After messing with it for a few minutes the gridlines are now staying on, even if I shift immediately to reverse after starting the vehicle. The software is just strange and seems to operate randomly. Hopefully it stays like it is now.
  19. I have the Titanium with MFT. Took the vehicle in to the dealer Monday to get a check engine light diagnosed. They had their scanner and a diagnostic computer plugged into the OBD II. Since then the rearview camera gridlines turn themselves off whenever the vehicle ignition is cycled. I know I have heard other people say not to shift to reverse until the system is fully booted up, but I do not agree with that since I shifted as soon as the vehicle turned on since I got the vehicle in October; no issue of this sort EVER. I think Ford needs to get new software programmers or let Apple do the in-car services. I can't believe how long MFT has been out and they can't get it to operate correctly. The MFT system is also unpredictable. You mean tell me that just by the dealer plugging their scanner or diagnostic computer in the OBD II messes up the backup camera gridlines settings???
  20. Code was for the MAP sensor. They could not get the symptoms to duplicate and the check engine light turned off when I drove it in to the dealer this morning. They are taking a wait and see approach, but if it does it again I am going to make them pick the vehicle up since I am 50 miles away from the dealer. I believe they just should have replaced the sensor. The vehicle has acted strangely now three times in less than a week.
  21. Check engine light came on today. Will be taking to the dealer tomorrow. Both times the gas gauge has been below quarter tank, so I wonder if it is a fuel pump issue.
