  1. Hi folks - Random question: I noticed today that the clock in my 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid remained on standard time instead of switching over to daylight saving time. It's configured to sync itself with GPS. Is this expected, and if so, should I simply advance the clock by an hour? (Since this is the first time I've used a GPS-based clock, I wasn't sure what capabilities it had to know what time zone I'm in, standard vs. daylight saving time, etc.) - Troy
  2. Hi broncos, yep, my 2013 Hybrid SE does the same thing. At the 0 volume notch you hear nothing, but move it up by one notch and the slight crackling/static from the speakers appears. I don't notice it when I'm driving since other noises at my typical speeds overpower it. But if you're driving at lower speeds or not at all, I could see it being annoying. Since it wasn't bothering me I haven't taken it to the service department to be looked at. If you do take it in, please post back what you find out. I might get around to taking mine in too... P.S. You mentioned earlier that there were noise cancellation speakers above the seats. I think those are actually microphones, not speakers. - Troy
  3. Looks like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released their crash test ratings for the 2013 Ford Fusion. To sum up, all tested models have achieved 5-Star Safety Ratings. Here are the individual ratings along with links to more information about the results (including crash test videos): 2013 Ford Fusion (FWD) Overall: 5 stars Frontal Crash: 5 stars Side Crash: 4 stars Rollover: 4 stars 2013 Ford Fusion (AWD) Overall: 5 stars Frontal Crash: 5 stars Side Crash: 4 stars Rollover: 4 stars 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid Overall: 5 stars Frontal Crash: 5 stars Side Crash: 4 stars Rollover: 4 stars 2013 Ford Fusion Energi Not Rated - Troy
  4. Wow, if this is true, I'm both impressed and annoyed. Impressed because I'm glad that Ford won't block customers from having this choice. Annoyed because I bought the Hybrid SE instead of waiting for the Hybrid Titanium because their brochure at the time said that Dune wouldn't be available on the Hybrid Titanium. :-\ - Troy
  5. FWIW, I also prefer the Dune doors as actually shipped than the configurator picture on Ford's web site. I think the configurator picture actually had too much constrast on the door when taking into account the black carpet. But it all comes down to personal taste. Expresspotato, I much prefer the Dune interior to the black interior. My local dealer didn't have any cars with Dune interiors, which made it a little tricky to really know what it would look like and if I was making the right choice. You can see pictures of my car with the Dune interior at http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/51554-new-fusion-owner-pics-and-impressions/page-10&do=findComment&comment=822738, and my reasons for preferring the Dune interior at http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/51474-upgrade-se-tail-lights/page-5&do=findComment&comment=820334. - Troy
  6. Puppybone, were you successful in having Titanium tail lights installed on your SE? I dropped by the parts department of my Ford dealership when I picked mine up to see if they thought it was feasible for my Hybrid SE. They researched the parts diagrams and felt that the wiring modifications required to install it looked pretty extensive and ultimately recommended against it as it would likely be very costly (beyond just the cost of the parts). While I'd be interested in this type of customization if it doesn't risk the integrity of the car, it's not worth it to me if it's crazy expensive. - Troy
  7. Sorry, but I don't think it is. While I agree with you that the picture is a non-issue (and in fact Ford's build & price site still shows the Sony radio if you click on the navigation option for an SE Hybrid), the text is a separate error. If it was the same error, then they would have mentioned the HD Radio capability in the radio details itself, not the navigation system details. The more likely explanation for this error is that the previous model year Fusions tied the HD Radio capability to the navigation system. So if you got a Sony radio without navigation, you wouldn't get HD Radio, but if you got the Sony radio with navigation, then you would also get HD Radio. Ford likely forgot that they tied them together in the previous model year and recycled the old text for the current model year. - Troy
  8. Hi Wazzul, you can find the owner's manual for both the gas Fusion and the hybrid/Energi Fusion online at http://www.motorcraftservice.com. Just click on Owner Guides in the left menu and then select the vehicle year and model. - Troy
  9. Well, that's not quite the case either... Ford's web site as recently as October said that the Fusion SE Hybrid would come with HD Radio if you ordered the Navigation system. See attached. - Troy
  10. My 2013 Ford Fusion SE Hybrid was built on December 4 and arrived at the dealership the day before Christmas, but I was already out of town to visit my relatives for the holidays when it arrived. My patience paid off though when I picked it up yesterday. Here are a few pictures I took of it today. - Troy
  11. Car and Driver just posted an in-depth video review (~24 minutes) of the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid on YouTube. It covers pretty much everything, including the issue of EPA vs. real world fuel economy and what C&D observed at various speeds. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SikJ3lC-lY
  12. No worries, I hope your recovery is going well! - Troy
  13. Hi folks - The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced today that the 2013 Ford Fusion has been rated as a Top Safety Pick+ in the United States, which incorporates not only the previous ratings for the Top Safety Pick designation (moderate overlap front crash, side impact crash, rear impact crash, and roof strength), but also the new small overlap front crash rating. 2013 Ford Fusions that are built starting in mid-December 2012 are rated by the IIHS as "acceptable" in the new small overal front crash test, on a scale of poor, marginal, acceptable, and good. Per the IIHS, Ford made structural changes to the Ford Fusion starting in mid-December "to improve occupant protection in small overlap frontal crashes," and those changes allowed it to receive the acceptable rating. I have yet to see a precise date on when those changes to the production line were made. (Suffice it to say, my Fusion built on December 4 is unlikely to include those improvements. :-) ) Congratulations to the 2013 Honda Accord sedan and the 2013 Suzuki Kizashi (as well as the previously tested 2013 Acura TL and 2013 Volvo S60) for achieving "good" ratings on the new small overlap front crash test. 14. My feelings exactly. If Titaniums were available with a non-black interior color, then I would have ordered a Titanium. Interior color is important enough to me that I was willing to give up the keyless entry and pushbutton start of the Titanium trim just so I could get the dune interior color. (And apparently I'm also giving up HD Radio even though Ford said HD Radio came with the navigation package on non-Titaniums at the time I ordered it.) Seattle is gray enough most of the year, I don't want it to be dark inside my car too. :-) I bet people living in the southern U.S. aren't as keen about black interiors during summer either. - Troy
  15. Hi folks - I placed a special order for a 2013 Fusion Hybrid in October and saw that it was built on December 4. I called my dealer this week to get a status update and they told me that the car is on hold at the factory because the headlights and the headliner weren't in stock when Ford built it. Once they're available they'll install them and ship the car out, but there's a possibility that it won't be delivered until January. Normally this delay wouldn't be a problem for me - I don't need it urgently and I know many of you have been waiting much longer than I have. But I see that both the standard $500 rebate and a $750 rebate that Ford mailed to me will expire in early January, so I'm worried that the delay will end up costing me an extra $1,000. Does anyone know if Ford would be flexible in extending these rebates past the expiration date for supply delays like this? Or would I need to ask my dealer? I thought that October would be sufficient lead time to receive the car by the end of the year, but maybe I should have built in more buffer... VIN: 3FA6P0LU7DR193070 - Troy
