  1. Transportation issues aside, it occurred to me that maybe the short inventories are somewhat intentional. Keep supply low to keep prices up?
  2. Instead of forcing themselves onto another companies cash pile, how about figuring out how to run your business in a manner that doesn't burn through your cash reserves? FCA is headed to bankruptcy and this time, they may not be able to survive
  3. And even year to date. Yet I'm about to get laid off. This whole cutting a shift thing sounds more and more fishy by the day.
  4. How many people who buy a Rolls really buy it for the performance or luxury as opposed to the name? Not saying Lincoln is anywhere near that level (or ever really will be) of being bought just because it's a Lincoln ever again (I'm too young to remember it but I'm pretty sure there was a time when that was the case) but I am curious to see where they take the brand.
  5. They're still selling Impala Limited (really that's what they call it?) to retail customers? SMH
  6. What the hell is he smoking? I want some of that!
  7. They're trying to rebrand and rebuild Lincoln, maybe taking a step back to move forward is the way to do it
  8. I don't either, it's just a different spin on it that I thought was worth s discussion
  9. Because the full size car market is shrinking so much, you could hypothetically consolidate Lincoln's car lineup. Think of it as addition by subtraction. You can always reexpand the lineup later
  10. What plant that builds BOF vehicles are you going to build it at?
  11. GM doesn't report them separately, true. But either way they aren't selling
  12. Milk it for everything you can and use the dwindling sales to phase it out?
  13. To back up your point, Impala is down 21%, 300 is down 21% and charger is up 12% (I'm guessing a decent chunk of that is cop cars). It's a shrinking segment and it wouldn't surprise me if Ford abandoned it for the more profitable Fusion. mid-size is the new full-size. Kinda makes me wonder if Continental is replacing both the MKS and MKZ and stays midsize. I'm also curious to se Toyota's numbers for Avalon for further comparison.
  14. No, the final assembly (or trim as you call it) building is the building to the east, closest to the old Wayne assbmy building. I'm pretty sure the building you're talking about is body. Paint is somewhere in the middle and I think stamping is to the south of Body.
  15. AFAIK, the problem with Wayne assembly is the same thing that killed plants like Twin Cities, St.Thomas and Wixom, the equipment is so outdated that it was cheaper to renovate Michigan Truck into Michigan Assembly. WAP is now used for kitting and Sequencing for MAP.
  16. I've been hearing that for a while too. When that comes, I have a feeling MAP will go back to 3 shifts
  17. Dodge had one for their HD diesels for a while, as recently as 2007 AFAIK. Not sure if they still do since they split from dodge or not.
  18. My fiancé drove an 89 tracer for years until a deer did it in around 2006. Her parents bought the car new and it served them well. She loved the 5 speed in it, waaaaaaay more than the 5 speed in her G5.
  19. I HIGHLY doubt there's going to be 473 openings by the end of June. I'm at the bottom of the list so I'm not holding my breath.
