  1. My dealer put a wrong e-mail address for me, so I never received anything (no confirmation, no VIN, no build date, etc), from Ford. I called customer service, who was very nice, but could not change or correct it on order, she said. Thanks to this forum (Ice Capades, I think), I found out the 19.5” forged aluminum wheels were in short supply (as stated above). But, truck showed up anyway in less than 4 months. It may not help for those still waiting, but I bet you will be like me, when your truck arrives, very happy! I’ve been drooling ever since the last body-style change before 2017, the gen 3 scorpion diesel with more HP & torque, the new 10-speed tranny (they worked out problems), but finally have a 12” screen (and Sync4) on this 2022. Yours also will arrive, and I bet you’ll love it. Ford makes amazing trucks! The holidays are over, no strikes going on that I know of. Bet there are a lot of delayed John Deere tractors after strike. Best of luck, people!
  2. Forderorder, ya know I tried to send a pic on another thread asking for shots, but think it was way too large, crashed. I can say it is iconic silver, with the baja interior, highly optioned out. Looks really redneck (a compliment) with wood 2-ba-4, dealer zip-tied on my frame-rails to hang mudflaps I insisted on, to be road legal here in Texas. I said I do not want (and will peel off) any paint emblems they put on. Lic plate frame is ok, 2 mud-flaps are enough free advertising from me. But, they sail back bad at speed being thin. I might add more weight to bottoms. They really should be longer also.
  3. I just got my 2022 class-5, F-550 4x4 Lariat cab and chassis, no bed yet. Weight is going to go up as I install parts. Leaning towards an aluminum flat bed (about 8-foot wide by 11.5 foot long (2-foot longer 84” cab-to-axle, than std 60”). Steel beds are cheaper, but maybe double the weight. So there is no reason to weigh it yet, and as an incomplete vehicle, there is no yellow sticker on door-post. But since gross is the higher (max) of 19,500lbs, and truck weight now says 8,200lbs, my max payload will be less than 11,300lbs. My main reasons in buying this truck, is to carry my heavy triple slide, “slide-in” truck camper, trail-bike, and pull a trailer. The class-3, 14,000lb gross weight of my 2015 F-350 4x4 dually is not enough, (note, you can spec a class-4, F-450 with a 16,000lb GVWR, vs std class-3, F-450 with same max as a F-350, 14,000 GVWR), not only was it overweight, but, I wanted the stronger frame, and bigger brakes (thus 19.5” wheels vs 17”) this truck has. Not to mention longer wheelbase, sharper turning axle, aluminum cab, 10-speed tranny, 12-inch screen, Sync-4 (wireless car-play). Of note, Lariat is the highest trim on a F-550, Crew-Cab or Lariat not available on a F-600, as I understand it. Ford’s website did not offer LED headlights, truck showed up without CHMSL (3rd brake light), and when I pulled plug, no wires inside, even though it said “standard on Lariat”. Another screw-up was got “heavy” front suspension (7000lb front axle), not the “extra-heavy” (7500 lb), I tried to order (probably dealer’s fault). Only camera (other than behind windshield top) is the trailer cam option in a box. Close enough, a very nice truck, even with derated power 6.7L diesel. Nothing is perfect. After driving home, check engine light, referencing ambient temp sensor came on. That is why I paid for new, warrantee will fix everything at no cost. Back to subject, I should be able to carry about 10,000 lbs (including trailer tongue weight), all said and done.
  4. Yep, priorities. I traded in my 2019 Tesla, and wrote a check. Trucks are just way more useful to me than cars. Compact is too small for me now, and I no longer commute to work. I like riding higher with the better visibility, and more mass if there is a collision someday (hope not, slow down, enjoy life!). Sell the wifey, sell the kids, sell the pets, then you would be amazed what is affordable! I do not have Netflix, cancelled satellite TV. In fact, I’m trying to reduce my recurring monthly costs. I ate out for the first time in months today (not counting drive-throughs). The savings really add up over time. I do not pick up pennies, like some, and know that most of the time we get what we pay for.
  5. My friend, I can not say I feel your pain, certainly I spend too much on the 4 pick-ups in my collection, but this is just another reason I’ve never married, or will. Gotta love women, but my opinion is they are all nuts to different degrees. Last thing I want to do is beg to spend the money I worked for. Or, tip-toe around my house afraid to step on a landmine subject like money. I have peace and quiet, and absolutely no drama. I’ve had past girlfriends pick a fight due to boredom. Perhaps there is another way to look at it. If she finds out, or it just gives you peace of mind, I’d bet she would be even more pissed off if you were spending that much cabbage at strip bars. How much (if any) you spend there, is no ones business but yours! Back to trucks, improving the looks and performance is something I enjoy doing, and like any hobby, adds up fast, especially with this high inflation. I just got my new F-550, aux tank in shop waiting for me, need a flatbed, already looking at airbags, possibly super single conversion, shocks, bumper, winch, etc, some mods that cost 5-digits that can take a $75k+ Half-truck North of $100 Gs fast. So much, in fact, I’m not rushing, prioritizing mods, doing all labor myself to save $. Guess I’m not too bothered with this hobby. I used to draw lifted 4X4s as a young kid in school, and as a newly retired old guy, can finally play as much, or as little, with them as I like. A dream come true. Certainly, some mods are just crazy expensive, and can take months to get and install, if one pulls the trigger, and goes for it. I hear my friends say, “It is cheaper to keep her”, and “4-letter word (wife), is cheaper than ex-wife”. If you ask me, life is short, so do what you want to. I know you did not ask. No truck is perfect, even brand new, so keep on wrenching, and spending if able. Have fun!
  6. Thanks for the reply. UPDATE: 1st sales-guy got my hopes up with a VIN last year. Then said mistake, that was not mine. I even reminded them to put my e-mail on order, so I could get info from Ford. They screwed that up, so nothing came from Ford. Then (out of the blue) no VIN, build date, just call came "your truck is here!" I went to see it on Jan 12, 2022, brought it home on Jan 13th, so about 4 months from order, F-550 Lariat highly optioned, but none of the sticky ones I read about here. Next point: I asked repeatedly for something in writing to verify options, from time of order. Yep, even after correcting errors on options that I found, they made mistakes, but I'm not getting back in line. beautiful front half of a truck (cab and chassis), and I dig the super sharp, easy-touch 12" center screen, and 8" gauge cluster. Note, 19.5" wheels, 2" anti-sag spring block option in rear, and no running boards is not easy to climb in! sales guy could not do it, I slide/fall out at 5'9". So first mod is to add AMP research retractable ones I have in a box!
  7. Thanks for the quick reply there, Akirby. I knew the GT, strong 'stangs were exempt. Guess we're boned on this one.
  8. Is it the case that a F450 cab & chassis does qualify for X-plan, but my F550 does not? Or, do all cab & chassis not qualify? This cost me $thousands if dealer is correct, and F550. does not.
  9. Welcome fellow Texanican! Thanks for the Granny visual we all could have done without, but got a chuckle there. Some long-time Ford employees have connections here, so ask them truck questions, and learn some stuff. I'm fixing' to.
  10. Great day to ya all! Guess it has been about 7 years, since I bought my last new SD, (the 2015 F350 KR) but do drive a 2018 Raptor now. I'll make you all feel good: I think I am dead last in line for a new F550 CC, CaC, Lariat, diesel 4x4, since I finally pulled the trigger and got dealer to order it yesterday. This will be my 4th Ford pick-up (3 new, 1 used). Rather disappointed my X-Plan pin did not apply (or any rebates) this time. supply and demand, I suppose. but super stoked to get the 12"/Sync 4. was not able to order the active (massaging air bladder) seats, same deal with the Raptor, but at least power, heated and vented. It is good to be back, learn from the long time experts, soak up some rumors, talk to other Ford truck fans!
  11. You might be thinking of the jumbo sized, blue "truck-nutz" seen hanging from some redneck bumper hitches. Good one!
  12. You are gonna love that truck! Maybe I should go pet mine ...out there all alone...in the dark. Have fun.
  13. Welcome. Hope you enjoy & learn some things here. I certainly have.
  14. Welcome. Sorry so long to get a reply. Some knowledgeable folks here to answer your Qs. Bet they have changed a lot from the '70s models.
  15. Hey Big John, Welcome, welcome, welcome...3 more. I just got my 2015 F350 KR. Still learning about it, but after driving my Dad's 2013, I just had to have one to pull my 20,000 lb TH. Hope yours gets in very soon. You will love that beast, I predict. Very complicated, the new trucks have become, but I have yet to find a single defect on mine (knock on wood!) Ask your questions on this forum. There are some smart folks in the know here, & all have been great to me so far.
  16. I just sold my 2011 F350 and ordered a 2015 F450 SD and its the same design except the regular ball for F350 / 250 is 18K rated and the F450 ball is rated for 26.5K you can see the details from the order codes with descriptions posted in this section by ice-capades who have been very helpful. Jackal, I have seen some 3" goose balls advertised. Do you know if the 26.5K is a 3" or regular 2 & 5/16"?
  17. Thanks gents for the replies. I was concerned about delays & not getting my new truck in time (perhaps prudent seeing some others delay frustrations) for vacation, so instead of custom ordering, or hoping to get a F450 in time, I continually cruised Fords site looking at dealer stock windows stickers, & found one close enough to the options I wanted (& was near enough to me,) laid down my hard earned green, & took a 2015 F350 dually home! Now it sits by my '06 to be sold later. So, I have time now to make a few mods. I did purchase Ford/Reese's goose ball & chain anchors after truck sale so looks like they will work for me. Didn't realize anchors have a piece that prevents rotation by the chain hooks, but glad that is incorporated. Now I have just ordered the B&W Companion base that works with the 5th wheel head (coupler) I already have, & the Ford/Reese under-bed Elite puck mount crossmember. I intend to mod the base as well, drilling out the handle retainer pin holes to fit 2 padlocks to prevent it from walking off. If you are familiar with the Companion 3000 base (that works with their turn-over ball), this one is a little more than a foot shorter (front to aft) giving me more precious bed space, & also eliminates the need to torque a bolt after installing every time. I have talked to B&W about increasing their weight rating from 20K since they confirmed it is the exact same coupler as the flatbed (22K) & Ram one (rated at 25K), but different bases. The one 3000 model I have was upped from 18K to 20K which is the minimum I need. We will see. Interesting looking at crossmember from below the bed, they decided to make part of it thinner for more exhaust pipe clearance.
  18. Enjoy! Let us know what ya think good/bad after getting to know her. Black looks great during daytime...when clean, especially waxed. I think this time I'll get a different color. Just couldn't keep my black 4x4 SUV clean, & hot here in the South.
  19. ...correction: only the platinum F350 is shown cheaper than the platinum F250.
  20. Hmmm... Looking at the model/trim level price chart, there may be an error: F350 cheaper than an F250 of the same trim? Not much difference, but only on the KR?, where all other trims, the 350 is a little more $.
  21. Ford's X-Plan site now has the normal & discounted prices for all 2015 SDs loaded, including all trim levels, even the 450s. Configured one today to get an accurate idea of how far this will set me back. Thanks for putting those up, Blue Oval employees! Now if we could just get some hard dates on late availability items, we could know if new trucks will be available for some trips planned. There will be a little time needed before setting out, but bet when finally on the road, the truck will get lots of looks, questions, and if customers are happy, the best advertising around...word of mouth.
  22. Nice lookin' ride there. I'm also pulling a 5th wheel with an F350, but an older '06 for now. Waiting for a new F450 this year I think.
  23. Thanks for the input akirby, & others. I'm learning all the time. Only so much published info I've found on new trucks so far, but impressive claims. If anyone hears when the new diesel issue has been resolved, & they are again scheduling, or hear of a hard date for F450 builds, please let us now
  24. Good explanation blwnsmoke. I see now we were thinking apples & oranges. You were referring to dealer invoice, where I was thinking of discount form MSRP on window sticker. A couple hundred bucks + discount off that wouldn't be very valuble. (ya did leave the % off the 0.4 the 1st time which is 40%.). I was starting thinking math must be different there over in Georgia from the other guy. Nice these boards (so far) seem to be civil, without the personal attacks common elsewhere. The reason I signed up was to learn.
  25. ....yes, I mean $2600 DISCOUNT, not total price of the truck. Just to clarify.
